Hi Terry, do you still have this motorcycle? I just bought an XS650 and I would like to make it very similar to your motorcycle, can I ask you some questions?
Yes, it does look pretty. Obviously, you put a lot of thought and effort, not to mention (most likely...) a lot of money into it. Of course, everyone has different taste in these things. It's a very nicely done chopper, bobber, whatever, but, and please don't think I'm wanting to start an argument, or detract from your enjoying your creativity, but unless you started with a totally gutted and trashed XS, then here is yet another great classic bike of it's (and all) time that is lost forever, since it would probably be very difficult to put it back in anything close to stock condition. I used to have a decent '79 XS-650F, and am still kicking myself for selling it when desperately needing money. Now I'm looking at trying to find another standard XS in good shape, but most of what you find is bikes that have been "improved." Parting thought. It Does look great, but think about the situations that you come into all the time while riding, where good handling, good brakes, and the ability to make fast and sometimes even radical maneuvers mean the difference between crashing and possibly dying or being gravely injured, or riding home in one piece. As a motorcyclist, which bike would you want to be on when the next doofuss on a cellphone pulls a fast left in front of you? Well, at least you will look cool either way. I just hope it works as good as it looks.
People with creativity, imagination, and mechanical ability create one of a kind Motorcycles, those without ride stock bikes. People who have never rode a well built custom Motorcycle will never understand that. Any stock Motorcycle can be improved on, I put a rear disc brake on my 750 Honda chopper before they were available on the stock ones. The only thing I would have done different on this bike is I would put a front fender on it having rode my chopper from upstate NY to Daytona in pouring rain from Washington DC all the way down. And a different exhaust because I just don't like straight wrapped pipes.
@@nickbonavita1379 "...never understand" ? Never understand what the backache you get from riding long distance on a rigid chopper ? We can only imagine Old mate just built a Honda 4 chopper he searched the world for new 70's parts, cost him a absolute fortune he spent $10,000oz on the donk alone He used a new original 70's "Softail" suspended frame made by the fellas who sued Harley for using their registered name "Softail®" I think he's over it now and is putting together a standard frame for the motor
@Sam McRae Yeah maybe but you've gotta admit it's a nice bike The only thing I would have liked to have seen done differently, beside wrapped pipes, would be if he'd have used a "girder" frontend instead of the "springer" I understand what you're saying though I have a 1978 SR500 that pretty well looks like it's stock if you don't really know what you're looking at and the thing that makes it stand out in the crowd of SR cafe racers bobbers and choppers is it's apparent standard appearance
Yeah, like Ken said beautiful The only thing I think would have been better would be if you had used a "girder" frontend instead of the "springer" but it's still beautiful Do you still have it
For the individual riding this. This is for him his liking. I agree 100.

Sam McRae,the xs 650 is about the engine, that is it.
