Great player. Unplayable in his prime. Gave prime Barca nightmares. Big match player. Copa Del Rey final. Multiple CL finals. CL knockout games.
A physical specimen unlike anything I've seen (Haaland, Ronaldo Fenomeno and Adriano come to mind....that's it). Zidane said that he was the best player cuz of crazy combination of both physical and technical ability (this was before they fell out).

Bale wasn't rubbish in his 2nd spell for Spurs, he was world class. He scored 16 goals in 34 apps in all competitions. And most of them came during the end of the season because he was benched initially due to not having played much last season.
If you go back and watch him, you'll see he scored all kinds of goals that season. Left foot goals, right foot goals, long shots, cut inside goals, headers, tap ins, volleys, and solo goals.

It was a shame he got injured a lot and wasn't able to have the consistent level of on the field output as he could have done otherwise. Despite this had an amazing career but those 30 league goals a season which he should/might of had didn't happen, and we don't know for sure if that would of happened also because even in his seasons with most apps he didn't record that. A good way of looking at this is that in his last season in the prem he got 21 league goals, and then he never got 20 league goals again despite being in his prime then. But then there's those moments of total individual brilliance in big moments and trophies which he played a big part of.

Players lose pace at around 32, so quick attacking players always drop off around that age. Some go into a decline, some retire early and some manage to adjust their game to keep going at the highest level. So your calling Best the greatest player of all time (who may very well be, but he retired at 26, made a come back but never reached the heights he had previously been at) however when it comes to Bale- who was at his peak up to around 29 and then never reached the same heights he had previously been at- you're basically calling him a has-been for a short career. Anything positive you've said about Bale has immediately been met with a negative. In some eyes even Rooney peaked early, but Bale is up there with the likes of Rooney as one of the greatest "British" players of all time .Please have some decency and show respect for what this guy has achieved for Club & Country, regardless if the latter years of his Career wasn't as great.

Realistically if Bale had never played a Champions League game for Madrid he would probably still have at least 3 or 4 champions leagues. However, he won 5 Champions Leagues (more than any other British player that I'm aware of) and that includes the final in which he scored probably the best goal in Champions League final history, will be regarded by the Welsh as the greatest ever, is in the conversation for the greatest British player ever, and was at one point arguably the best player in the world after probably the 2 best players who have ever played the game.
