    I love how perfectly this build worked out with #SpellJammer being confirmed. The dynamics of this party would go so well, I know this build is a bit more surface level than some of my other builds, but I definitely still had some fun with this one.

    Starlord could technically be an Astral 'Elf' aswell, and although criminal definitely works, his background with the Ravagers is more akin to space pirates than generic thief especially with his love of piloting spaceships. Just swap water vehicles for space vehicles.

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely, although I just came out with this video before spell jammer came out, but I like that idea.

    For Drax, he could also be given a few levels in Rogue to gain expertise in athletics and stealth, barbarian rogues are weird combination of a stealthy giant, like Jason Vorhees or Michael Myers.

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      As much as I like to joke about him getting stealth, I don't know if I would actually make them proficient in it, I would just say the one time he was near Star-Lord and Gomora he just so happened to roll a natural 20 lol

      I really like the slasher build. Believe it or not, an eagle totem barbarian with the observant feat can be the ultimate spy. Especially if you take two levels or rogue.

    Here’s my take on some of them after watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
    I think Star-Lord is just a Fighter with really high charisma. He only fights with weapons and doesn’t cast any spells which is a key feature of Bards. Sure, he might inspire the group but I think that’s just the Inspiring Leader feat because he doesn’t really do them in a combat situation
    Nebula is an Eldritch Knight. In the previous movies, I would have agreed that yes she is a Battle Master but in this movie she has this arm cannon thing which to me in a dnd context felt like reflavored spells
    And while I agree that Mantis is an Aberrant Mind Sorcerer I think she took at least one level in Bard to get Bardic Inspiration because in the movie she helps people pass certain checks (MINOR SPOILER ALERT: at the end of the movie she inspires Cosmo to continue using her telekinetic powers which required a check)

    • @WereDictionary
      @WereDictionary 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Counterpoint: Honor among Thieves is very obviously a D&D-inspired movie and Edgin is obviously a bard - who doesnt cast spells.
      His main thing is that he is a smooth talker who supports his friends, much like Starlord does. Bards dont need to cast spells the traditional way.

    I know this video is a bit older, but I can’t help but mention that although Earth Genasi may look more like Groot, a Firbolg might have fit better due to their reserved attitude and aptitude for nature. They can even speak to beasts and leaves, along with being tall and strong.

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, I've gotten a lot of people recommending that, and I'm starting to lean that way myself

    Alternative races: A goblin Racoon, nice stats and racial bonus for Artificer. Drax as Goliath thematically works nice with their physical appearance, tribal tattoos and extra damage reduction. Gamora as a yuan-ti and a few Rogue levels. Anyway you made a great build for each Party member, according to his/her comic counterpart and with cool synergy as a team. Contrats once again🥳

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks Merc, it's always good seeing you in the comments. Goliath would totally work too, I didn't really consider that one, I guess I got too focused on the green races. But I am definitely happy with the overall synergy of the group

    The problem with giving Yondu the Telekinetic feat and adding Arcane Trickster is that you can't attack using Mage Hand, and Arcane Trickster never gets Animate Objects. I think that reflavoring Soulknife rogue just a little ... maybe with the Telekinetic feat as well ... might work better.

    I know you covered them all in one video so no time for multiclass but I would use multiclass and would make some alterations:
    Groot: 7 levels druid, 2 levels barbarian (for when Groot gets angry, especially in battles infinity war and endgame), and 11 levels in fighter (champion). Groot is described as the muscle for Rocket so this makes sense.
    Rocket: 13 levels rogue (thief), 7 levels artificer
    Starlord: 7 levels rogue (thief), 2 levels artificer (he uses technology and does a fair amount of tinkering), 11 levels fighter (eldritch knight) and the inspiring leader feat
    Drax: 3 levels fighter (champion, 2 weapon fighting), 17 levels barbarian (berserker) and the duel wielder feat
    And finally out of the original guardians, and my favorite character in the MCU, Gamora: 17 levels fighter (champion) and 3 levels rogue (assassin), I would have Orc as the race instead of half orc.
    Nebula: 2 levels artificer, 3 levels rogue (assassin), 15 levels fighter (champion) with unarmed fighting as Nebula often seems to use martial arts.
    I'm not sure about Mantis, I like your idea but I would possibly go with warlock of the celestial as she served Starlord's father and possibly got powers from his. Maybe 15 levels sorcerer, 5 levels warlock.
    Not sure about Yondu either, maybe wizard and use magic missile as the arrow. I think he would need a complex multiclass build with numerous feats and magic items to pull off the flying arrow thing.
    Again these are just my thoughts and I think you did a great job. Love your videos, keep up the great work.

    Drax could be a space half-orc, hence the blue coloration. Also, totem bear is a better choice for subclass. That makes him resistance to everything except psychic damage, which is canon as he is susceptible to Mantis's mental powers.

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      True, that's a way better subclass in general for optimization and being able to take hits, but it doesn't fit quite as well with the character and I was trying to stick to Drax as closely as possible.

  • @iron_ant_6906
    @iron_ant_6906 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Maybe for Yondu go with Arcane Archer Fighter some of the stuff from that would fit for the arrow with stuff like seeking arrow, piercing arrow and curving shot

  • @tarlison2k1
    @tarlison2k1 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Youdu might take 3 level as psychic warrior for that flying arrow thingy

    • @aduckwithayoutubechannel
      @aduckwithayoutubechannel 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Psi Warrior wouldn’t really be that helpful at all. It gives you a psychic shield, a damage boost, and a telekinetic control, feature that can’t deal any damage.
      Just go eldritch knight for a returning weapon as a bonus action, and pick up some spells like Magic Missile to reflavor as an arrow flying around the battlefield.

    I think that Yuan-ti doesn't fit for Gamora's race. I would have gone with Orc/Half Orc. While Orcs are often shown with grey or light brown skin, the orcs in Warhammer and World of Warcraft have green skin. That way she would have relentless endurance which I think is fitting. Alternatively custom lineage or variant human could work. Gamora is my favorite marvel character, glad to see you made her in Dungeons and Dragons.

    Yonda would be severely gimped by choosing rogue as base class I think. The Arrow is essential and you have no way to replicate that and only a single attack.

    Some builds id be interested in:
    Recreating the classic universal monsters. What’s the MOST Dracula a character could be, same for were wolf, Frankenstein, creature from the black lagoon, Jekyl/Heyde, etc. I know there is some existing content for vampires, werewolves, etc but how close can you get a PC to the exact character?

    • @WhiteRose2002
      @WhiteRose2002 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Dracula: go with a Dhampir Druid, Dhampir is the closest we can get to a vampire, and for subclass and go circle of spores and flavour your spore zombies as vampire spawn.
      Frankenstein: using another race from Van Richtens, use the Reborn, it covers most corporeal undead things you’d want to play. For class go with barbarian and take bear totem for optimization. Or you could go my route where I played the Bride in a Halloween one shot and took Ancestral guardian (guardians being the women who were used to make me)
      Creature from the Black Lagoon: Triton and go barbarian but I’m not sure on subclass.
      Mr Hyde: Variant human, take whatever feat you want but I’d go with cruel from the tal’dorei setting to deal more damage, for class go with the assassin rogue and if you want to have Hyde be Jekyll for a bit take three levels in artificer for the alchemist subclass.
      The Wolf Man: Human (normal or variant doesn’t matter) and go with path of the beast barbarian.

    Where I can play this? Dungeons and Dragon online? Is it free or pay?

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey you can play online if you don't have a group to play with in person.
      I would recommend using the site roll20 it's free to use, and they have the ability to search for a group, it's actually how I found my very first Dungeons & Dragons group.
      There are a few free resources you can find online as far as building characters and getting all of the hardcore specifics, in case my videos don't give enough. Otherwise you would have to buy the books for Dungeons & Dragons, but there are definitely places to find them for free.
      Also if you're really eager to find a group to play with in person, there are Reddit groups to help search, or you can go to Dungeons & Dragons website and find where a local adventure League game is going on. I definitely recommend trying out an in person group if you can, but playing online is great too, the first group I ever played with we played together for 2 years.

  • @ericpeterson8732
    @ericpeterson8732 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Why not custom lineage? I thought that was what it was for. Also, there are too many goblins and kobolds. Hopefully, MOM's changes to monster races will reduce the numbers of goblinoids and kobolds at the table. Yeah, I'm pretty biased against monster races. I guess I'm old school like that. It took 3 editions of the game for drow to be normalized as a player race!! Drizz't was a 2nd edition character and fairly unique, enough that he was met with suspicion and derision wherever he went. Now drow PCs are core rules. Most goblins and kobolds are played as just feral halflings or gnomes. Why not just play a halfling or gnome? I blame WOTC. They gave these trash races OP racial abilities. Pack tactics, fury of the small, etc. I guess Paizo deserves some of the blame, too. Their corporate branding of "cute" goblins has removed the stigma of playing as a monster. Thank heavens for the anime Goblin Slayer. That show reveals how goblins should be treated, both as a credible threat and what to do about them.

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think out of anybody rocket would deserve a more monster leaning race, since he was altered from a beast type creature. And I try to shy away from custom lineage stuff too much, just for the channel I really like to try and make slight alterations if necessary to existing races, since there's so many races available in D&D nowadays
