This is incredible ❤ You know when Freddie does a production it is first class. He was at the end of his career, and told Monserrat he wouldn't be around much longer. He loved her dearly, and she helped him succeed at another phase of his career. She said there was a tear in his eye, and she took his hand. Freddie Mercury is unforgettable! A life long fan, I never grow tire of him. So many songs that you never hear on TH-cam. Thanks young man for recognizing the greatness of this preformance ❤❤❤ Kaye
Two Angels came together and made this incredible music. Written by Freddie and Mike Moran. This song was chosen for the Olympics in Spain.Loved your reaction❤
This always makes me tear up. So beautuful. Freddie wrote amazing music as well as being an amazing performer. The respect he had for her shows through.
I know Freddie was amazing putting his hand to opera this song was for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona you should also check out( how can I go on) amazing a rock singer and an opera singer together creating timeless beautiful music
This wasn't a rock concert, it's opera. The song was performed by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe, who Freddie declared to be one of the most beautiful women he ever met. Caballe requested that Freddie write a song about her hometown, and he did so, in Barcelona, a song about meeting a lover in a breathtakingly beautiful city. Mercury had befriended the operatic soprano Montserrat Caballe and had long admired her music. In 1987 and 1988 they recorded a whole album of pop-operatic material. >> This was supposed to be the theme song for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games held in Barcelona, Spain; however, the organizers chose another song at the last minute due to Freddie Mercury's untimely death at the end of 1991 from AIDS, to avoid controversy. However, the song was still performed at the opening ceremonies, Caballe performing live to a backing track featuring Freddie's vocals.
Freddie wrote this song to hopefully be chosen as the official song of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. Unfortunately, he passed away. Montserrat performed this song at those Games in his memory.
Freddie was so much more than a rock singer and frontman of the band. He had an eclectical musical taste, loved opera and ballet. It was his dream to sing with his icon and when it came into fruition, he was on the cloud nine. This song was the first collaboration between a rock singer and an opera diva.
Caballé and Mercury's song, 'Barcelona', was played out on stage at La Nit open air festival in the city, to mark the arrival of the Olympic flag for the Barcelona 1992 Olympics. The pair had recorded the song, which was a hit single from their collaborative album of the same name, in 1987.
They did a whole opera album together/ Another great song from the 2 of them is HOW CAN I GO ON. Freddie's voice is so beautiful in this song. Barcelona was made for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Freddie told Monserat that who would not able to sing with her at the Olympics. So sad ; he never complained and was so courageous while he was in a lot of pain and his body was wasting away. His voice never faded and he recorded right up to the end of his life. For example in the video I WANT IT ALL, he was super sick. He had lost half of foot so he was moving like used to but he gave it all he had for that amazing song.
Monsi as she liked to be called was a Spanish top opera singer. It was an ambition to sing with her. It was finally arranged and Freddie composed an album for them. How can I go on is another if theirs very sad but beautiful and Golden Boy is a blast. Ge became I'm clean shaven around 87 when he was diagnosed with Aids and when he has a beard he is all already very unwell. This was use to cover lesions due to aids. If you use the song videos of Queen you will find them on Queen's official TH-cam channel. From the source they are less likely to be blocked xxx
Freddie recorded an album with Monserrat called ‘Barcelona’ which was released in October 1988. This song is from that album and was written for the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. Freddy wrote this for the Barcelona Olympics even though he didn’t live to see them. 😢 Monserrat Caballe was a Barcelona girl! And the greatest soprano in the world at the time. ❤Notice how soft those high notes of hers are- that’s the ultimate in vocal control. No shouting or screaming.

In this song, she is not just repeating his words, but singing other words, in her native Spanish. Look up the lyrics, they are fascinating, and will add another dimension to your pleasure. Her name is pronounced Mohnt-sehr-raht Cah-bah-yay. Freddie loved opera, and had gone to a performance in Madrid to see a famous tenor (I _think_ it was Placido Domingo) and was awestruck when the soprano sang. That was the first time he heard Montsey (his nickname for her) sing, and wanted to meet her! And a wonderful friendship began, that sustained him through the rest of his life. Please listen to HOW CAN I GO ON and THE GOLDEN BOY. They will speak to your soul!
When Freddie says the phrase “the moment you stepped into the room you took my breath away “ was about her. He saw her at an Opera and was just blown away by her incredible talent. He was a huge fan of hers. When he says he wants all the world to see-he’s referring to her and her majestic opera voice. They had a deep and mutual respect for each other. She also stated in an interview that Freddie had “conquered “ her and she knew that they would definitely collaborate on an album. This album is full of beautiful music and singing by two legends. Rest in peace to both.
Montsy was the last great diva. Famous Spanish soprano. Song was written by Freddie and Mike Moran for Montsy to commemorate the 92 Barcelona Olympics.
