Yes we made it to Disco Volante finally!!!! Totally love this song, it's full of little surprises as you found out and it's the same for the whole album, it's an absolute masterpiece and each song is totally different with a life of it's own, can't wait for the next one 😁 Glad you got to enjoy the live version too, it's the best live I've found of this song, that was Trey rocking out near the end, I love watching him go crazy when he's totally immersed in the performance 🤘 Thank you 💗

I think, because that middle part is SO random and chaotic, it renders the final passage to be the best resolution in all music.
And they do it so passionate and beautiful while being simple and minimalistic.

Next time you listen to the studio version imagine that middle part with the sound effects as an alien invasion. On the Live version the middle part is bits and pieces of their first demo that they have recently re recorded and released called "The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny"

I felt bad that I had to go soooo dark on this, but it’s really a total retina-fryer. The audio tho, the audio is fabulous!
    Happiest MGBB reaction ever!!

The original is way too flashy and you did the best you could, this way at least Cole got to enjoy it 💗

The album is called Disco Volante. These guys are hilarious! They recently re-recorded their first ep with Dave Lombardo from Slayer on drums. It’s straight up death/thrash.
I laughed when you said you should have expected that change. Mr. Bungle has to be one of the most unpredictable bands in existence.
If you want to do more from this album try Desert Search for Techno Allah.

The end section sound wise reminds me of the 2001 Space Odyssey as the character is stretched through time and space dimensions. Good times.

The album is called "Disco Volante" which means "Flying Saucer" on Italian... Also, its the name of boat-yacht of the main villain from the James Bond movie "Thunderball"... ;)) So, its not a joke, hahah... :)) And yes, its a deep ocean fish on the album cover. :) Unfortunately, such a fish looks like it was blown out when it is pulled out of that huge deep water pressure (its natural habitat) on our surface, so it carries some symbolism; Just imagine us - deep under the ocean, with that enormous pressure - the result would be equally catastrophic ... So that fish above Patton's eye carries the message of some strange, say - balanced humanism, right ... :)
As for the song... Yeah, man - the last one on the album, and what a way to end it, huh? :)) The music is amazing, genre twists unexpected (to answer your self-questioning - No one can really predict what will happen next in their songs , so relax&enjoy the ride!). There was some old rock`n`roll of the 50`s at the beginning (fast..) and also at the end ( slow ballad ...) In between - speed metal plus electronic noise that also carries some symbolism... Somehow it is in tune with the lyrics, I know that you couldn`t pay much attention to that now when you first listened to the song, but it's actually very meaningful and unusual, at least for 50`s r`n`r!... ;)))) It hard to get a clear picture out of that, but if you ask me, it describes a man with his small group of friends who are in a good way connected to the Good Old Traditional World (of Honor?) ... with a feeling that that world will experience an Apocalypse !... And it comes with that sudden change to metal and noise, depicting a kind of Outer-world Alien Invasion, like, The New World (Order) throws itself at The Old Traditional World trying to destroy it (those sounds of space torpedoes, right??...) But, our crew, a group of good chosen guys decides to launch themselves right in the center of that Strange New Invading Force in some kind of Funny Red Cartoon Rocket - Merry Go Bye Bye - either to find their end, because this endeavor looks almost like a collective suicide, or to try the unthinkable - to defeat this Force with their own power, taken out of both the Old and the New World....To defend the honor!... I think that`s the point of "Star Wars" of this incredibly structured and amazingly sounding song...:) What do you think about that? :) Tnx for the reaction and...See you around..:)

@@markbowen8461 great comment, thank you very much for sharing the knowledge and wonder of this band and album. :)) stands on the same path as I received it, but still deepens it in a crystal & most desirable way. :)

I'm sure someone already pointed out but the live version they played parts off the wraging wrath of the Easter bunny, which you really need to check out too. Trash metal gold.

  • @NuevaRomay
    @NuevaRomay 2 ปีที่แล้ว

on the live version they play a medley of songs from THE RAGING WRATH OF THE EASTER BUNNY, "sudden death" "raping your mind" and "bungle grind"

Mike Patton said early MR. BUNGLE was DEATH METAL (which is my preferred music) and I'll be damned, he has a great death vocal growl.

I love this album for the production as much as anything. No one has the guts to record in this (often uncomfortable) full spectrum of sound anymore. It’s one of the many reasons the original vinyl pressing for this one is so highly valued. The hand-crafted groove for The Secret Song being another biggie.

This version is not the same as the original. The middle section repeats some parts and the " as above, so below" cuts out before full Patton manic cut loose (pitch/scream gets higher). Great reaction though, love this song, love this album.

    • @RagnarokB

Proof that I might be a bit of a weirdo: I absolutely love the second half. LOL Then again, I listen to a lot of noise, industrial, death metal and black metal so... Yeah, guess I'm used to it. :P Plus it really makes that segue into the gentle ending part that much more impactful.
