  • This Yin Yoga class will open up your psoas and release tension in your hip flexors! Often times when we think of opening up our hip flexors we think of poses like dragon, saddle, and swan etc. All of these are great, but sometimes you just don't want to "endure" lol and maybe would like something more relaxing. This is a supine class, so all postures will be done laying on the mat. #yogahips #yinyoga #psoas
    P.S. Be playful with the blocks, use 1 where I use 2 and vice versa, find what works for you!
    PLEASE NOTE, if you have sensitive knees consider placing a towel under the bent knee. Alternatively, you can do the second pose without blocks
    YOU WILL NEED: 2 BLOCKS
    Grab your coffee, tea or coco water and meet me on the mat!
    Be sure to let me know how it went for you in the comments!

    What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is MAGIC. Well, that is how I would describe it. Yin yoga is a practice that that allows you to go beyond the superficial layers of the body and access the deeper layers. This means in a Yin Yoga practice you are going beyond the muscles and right into the deep connective tissues of the body. Our connective tissues are made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form our joints. Therefore, when you practice Yin Yoga you are able to increase your range of motion, your flexibility and strengthen your joints. A win win! If you ask me. Yin yoga is more than stretching, we are “stressing” the connective tissues and we do this with longer holds and intuitive breathing.
    When practicing always remember
    1. Meet the pose at YOUR edge (gradually)
    2. Find stillness and focus on your breath
    3. Resolve to be still

    Thank you. Rarely find yin yoga that addresses the psoas and hip flexor especially in these ways. That was fantastic. 💜

    That was awesome! Loving the pose where 1 foot is on the block and the other tucked behind!!! The tension went right to where I needed it to be. Will try to incorporate this session at least 2-3x a week to my routine. Thank you Shaunneka 😊 💓🧘🏾‍♀️🧎🏾‍♀️

    I really enjoyed this very grounding practice. Thank you, Shaunneka 💚. Btw, the psoas IS a hip flexor (the psoas major and iliacus muscles, also known as iliopsoas, are the main flexors of the hip).

    • @YogawithShaunneka
      @YogawithShaunneka  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, thank you! I love anatomy so this is great. I'm just unsure if everyone knows what your psoas is so I use both terms.

    • @ral-mutairi9607
      @ral-mutairi9607 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YogawithShaunneka Yeah, probably most people don’t really care about the correct terminology and are more concerned with the video content. But for us physical therapy nerds and others who do, how about “Psoas and other hip flexors”, “Hip flexors: psoas and others”, “Hip flexors: Psoas and friends “ ? 😁 Love your sequences 💯

    Just discovered you and this video via a search for yin to release my chronically tight psoas muscles, and this sequence is exactly what I needed. A profound release that I’ll keep coming back to. Thank you so much.
