    Hello! This is just a quick tour of my new apartment in South Korea. Most schools will cover the rent of your apartment when you work for them (you usually just have to pay your own bills) which is super handy. If you have any questions pls feel free to ask below ☺️

    I taught there for two years. Some things to remember (that I had no clue about when I was there)
    - Separate your trash, and make sure you put it in the right bags you have to buy for the recycling versus the trash versus the compost. I didn't realize it but they have CCTV everywhere and you don't want to be THAT person (if your area does this with their trash)
    - Keep all your flour in sealed containers, you dont want pantry bugs
    - Make sure you clean your bathroom every week or it will get moldy with the water getting everywhere
    - The walls of your apt are likely really thin so be mindful when you have guests as you're likely living in the same complex as students who are studying
    - Don't be like me, please do make an effort to study korean and practice while over there. I didn't study until after I left and wanted to l earn to keep in touch with my older students. I wasted an opportunity :(

      Thank you!! Yes i've definitely realised some of these things in the past couple of months! And I will definitely be trying to learn more Korean in the coming months!

    The apartment looks massive, the kitchen looks really open and nice, better than what I expected!

    you're apartment looks really big! I'm jealous of the kitchen counter space. It probably doesn't seem like much, but my apartment in Korea has absolutely none lol

      I’m definitely so grateful for it I know I got lucky with the apartment! Although I think it helps that I live in the middle of no where so the school can afford something a little bigger 😅 I’m moving to a different school in March so I imagine mine will be more similar to yours then

    • @HaruInKorea

      @@ameliastone5675 hopefully you still get something nice! I live in a smaller city too so I like my apartment, I just am always struggling to prepare the meals I cook cause there’s no space 😂😂 Good luck at your new school!!

      Pretty much everyone I’ve met here so far has been American or South African! Not many people from the UK here it seems ☺️

    • @its_salmasskin
      @its_salmasskin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel the same, all the videos are from American or South African perspective I was starting to feel nervous about moving! How was the travelling? Was it difficult due to Covid restrictions?

    • @ameliaabroad9278
      @ameliaabroad9278  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@its_salmasskin the travelling was ok! Once all of your documents and everything is ready and you have your PCR it isn’t too bad. When you arrive at the airport you’re guided through (it can take up to 2 hours) but it’s quite straight forward and they’ll download koreas quarantine app on your phone. Then if you’re here as a teacher, you can do your quarantine in the apartment provided by your school, which had just been reduced to 7 days! It makes things a bit tricky but when you’re going to be here for a long time, it’s worth it!

    i’ve been watching so many of these because i’m planning on teaching there in about 4 years after I graduate
    I was just wondering, is it easy to teach? like I’ve never experienced teaching yet so i’m afraid of the thought of having to come up with my curriculum and materials (or does the school usually provide those?) I hope you’re doing well and having a great time

    • @ameliaabroad9278
      @ameliaabroad9278  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! I would say that it is fairly easy to teach as long as you come with the right attitude & if you genuinely like working with children. If you teach young kids / kindergarten here then it is definitely more just about working with them rather than teaching them. Plus most schools to hire beginners/first time teachers so do expect you to kind of just learn on the job! For most schools, a curriculum will be provided. Some will have all resources you need and others will let you have the freedom to do what you want with the curriculum ☺️ thank you so much and feel free to reach out if you have any more questions!

    Hey nice apartment. So are you with Hagwon or EPIK and which city are you situated in? Also, if you don't mind😊you can make a video about the day in your life as a teacher. That'd be nice.. 😊

      Hey ☺️ I’m at a hagwon and my Hagwon is on the very outskirts of Busan (gangseo-gu) and my apartment is actually in Jinhae (changwon) which is about a 10 min drive away from my school. I’ll definitely try to make a video like that soon! Thank you for your suggestion 💗

    Living as a single person, how much food waste do you actually produce? And why would you "obviously" not drink tap water, in a civilised country like South Korea?
