That pressure on Pastrana must be spooky. A guy with a bunch of experience on your team crashed, could have possibly even died if that was a different corner, and now you have to do the same thing without failing.
Colin McRae did the same thing, possibly with even more intensity, both of them absolute legends... Subaru... why do you not make a Hill Climb edition, even @ 400hp, you would sell out in minutes...
As an Evo owner I’ve never EVER imagined tipping my hat to Subaru and having this much respect for them until now. Well well done Subaru Rally Team, USA. Absolutely surreal.
i always said they both made amazing machines like the 22b and the older wrx sti rally cars and they keep coming up with something ridiculous and mitsubishi's old lancer evo cars
Dr.Dylan`s game Absolute respect for the 22b for its era. Though, I have to say the Evo X from 08 was still capable of competing with the 2015 STI. And once they discontinued it, the Subi team stole the show!
Tanner Williams I live in Atlanta and someone was trying to get rid of JDM RHD evo 4 because the dude was heading overseas. I met him at a meet. They’re very rare, especially decent shape.
Will never understand how this isn’t more popular... it’s so badass and especially with the Poster Boy and Poster car (Travis & Subaru) leading the sport it couldn’t be a better time for this sport to popularized these last years....

I’ve been up this auto road quite a few times. They tell you to keep the car in first gear to prevent overheating, so you’re going quite slow. But even at slow speeds, driving along the edge can be very sketchy. They aren’t kidding when they say the road is narrow. I cannot even fathom going up this mountain at the speeds in this video. Must be exhilarating and nerve racking. True professionals
I'm in tears, and it's not even the first or second time I've come back to revisit this video. Travis calling out to KB, and the fact that just last weekend I have had the honor to meet and talk to this man, who was incredibly cool and genuine; what a majestic drive!!!
Without a co-driver in a powerful car like that and on such a road, 2 plays a major role. The memory of the driver and looking far ahead the road, the moment the curve's scanned, the eyes looks forward to the next one while entering the already scanned curve, driving without blinking an eye. Combining all those together comes the skills and the fast reflection of the driver. Rally, what an outstanding motor sports.
Higgins crashes at a time of 4:01 and Pastrana passed that spot at a time of 4:02ish....damn that was close! Would have been insane to see the split had Higgins finished!
Higgins must have been slightly ahead on time because he lost it ( and therefore bgan to slow, at 3.57) if he had spent those 5 seconds on the throttle he would 4 mins or less to the same spot.
And that folks is why I own a Subaru. Not cuz of this or that, just cuz I love the brand, the product, and their work in the community and all the envelopes that they push.. Great job.

I'll never understand why the U.S. makes such a big deal about Nascar (at least from what I've seen), when THIS has existed. *Year later edit* Y'all took this shit too literally, which I guess also proves my point about Nascar and it's fans (coming from an American), lol. Never imagined a rhetorical statement would be refuted by explaining how Nascar is more marketable, than watching people drive by you one single time as they drive dangerously up a hill. Like yeah that's super obvious, but you figure Americans would be more about the much more dangerous sport of Rally than watching people go in a circle. But at the same time, I guess you can figure the opposite too, simply because of how we are 🤣
Apples to oranges. You go see a NASCAR event and you can see every corner from most vantage points, and the cars are much closer together. Rallying is subjectively more exciting but if you want to watch one in person you have to spend hours waiting in the woods and then you get to watch each car fly by one at a time for a few seconds and then it's over. I'm a fan of both disciplines and I'm about as minimal a fan of NASCAR as possible, but I definitely understand why it's so popular. It's also easier to follow when your gut is full of miller lite.
Can swear they make an electric picture box where you can watch stuff like this on, lol. Can only imagine if something like that was as big of a deal to watch as Nascar :|

that's the impressive thing about such race-prepped cars, they are built to be incredebly safe, you look at some crashes, with "normal" cars you wouldn't stand a chance, but out of these cars you get out and walk away with no thing whatsoever
Man would I also love to use a car like this with dirt rally as well. I am just going to have to get WRC 10 and wait for codemasters to make there WRC game. It's such a shame because dirt rally already has the rallycross cars, but you just can't use them on an actual stage.
@@sassiest2053 Actually theres a mod for that. The mod fot Dirt Rally 2.0 is called ACAT mod, you can make rallycross tracks and use the rallycrosd cars on normal rally stages
Like the Nordschleif but with even more death waiting. The speeds are lower but with varying surfaces, fewer visual cues on track, and little room for mistakes makes this a lot harder I think. You run off on a rally course and it's almost always very bad, so let's throw in some cliffs for added excitement... This is some intense racing and the drivers are amazing. Great vid!

one of my dreams is to race in the climb to the clouds. going to build my own monster, been scouring auction sites for the perfect car to gut and make a rally monster. 21 now, from massachusetts, next hillclimb event is when im 24. will see you guys there!
Hats off to the Subaru Team, they have def smashed the record. Too bad Mitsubishi is missing from Rally and Hillclimbs. Will be nice to see a Evo competing at the same level as the STi
Well... Second place in this race was won by a EVO II driven by an independent driver with no team behing him. Pleasure EVO is the name of the car. Think about it, an EVO II almost 25 years old, still holds against the latest STI AND on hands of a non professional driver.
Obviously, if he got second then he was a professional driver, even if he had not been in races, otherwise, he would have most likely died, been in a crash or not come second to professional drivers...
You're not getting it... You can be a good driver, an amazing driver even, without ever entering an official race. So although he is not a pro in the ways you classify a pro, he still is a very good driver and very good drivers can be classified as pros. You really think an average joe who has never done any racing before can go against world class drivers? No chance.
So thrilling to watch. Subaru, what a car! After watching many videos, nothing seems to come close to climbing up. Come to India, Subaru! It's SUV time here and nothing like Subaru.

👽🛸
Pastrana made me love rally.. from watching him in all the fmx movies then nitro circus.. he's the closest thing we'll ever see to a superhero 👍#199
glad i own a turbo subaru = changed a few things to my liking - now top machine.
Ronnie Boucher Could you link a social media page with a picture of it? Would love to see it!
There's no car quite like a scooby, they're in a class of their own
What you end up doing to it?
Flay If you want social media, "1Man1Subaru" is my Instagram, I'm also changing to a better subaru soon!
guaranteed 20 extra hp for sure
Going to welding school because of this show
one of my dreams is to race in the climb to the clouds. going to build my own monster, been scouring auction sites for the perfect car to gut and make a rally monster. 21 now, from massachusetts, next hillclimb event is when im 24. will see you guys there!

got goose bumps and was already on the edge of my seat from the intro
Great respect for Travis Pastrana, both in cars and motorcycles

Bae: "I'm home alone. Wanna come round?"

Too much sex is bad
Literally the greatest youtube series ever
Well done Travis and Subaru team! Allow me to congratulate this video production crew! Such a professional job! Fantastic almost 23 minutes view!!
First double backflip on a dirt bike and now he’s pushing 150 mph in a effing rally car. Your effing legend mate!
He is not a pro, don't trust me just confirm it by yourself.
You're not getting it... You can be a good driver, an amazing driver even, without ever entering an official race. So although he is not a pro in the ways you classify a pro, he still is a very good driver and very good drivers can be classified as pros. You really think an average joe who has never done any racing before can go against world class drivers? No chance.
Ok, I see it. Yes I agree with you is not a simple average Joe.
If Sebastien Loeb ran on this mountain with the same car, he could crush easily the record, it's something I would like to see.
I agree. :-)
Yup
Mike H Pastrana is definitely no slouch, but remember: Loeb had no co driver when he smashed Pikes Peak ;)
@@silv3rArrow even said it here, this is narrow and more challenging..
@@fueledproductions5501 True. I would like to see that Peugeot here. The 1hp per kilo machine would be interesting in this environment
This is exactly why I keep purchasing an Impreza. Subaru don't forsake the Impreza it's an icon with a following that beats no other
So thrilling to watch. Subaru, what a car! After watching many videos, nothing seems to come close to climbing up. Come to India, Subaru! It's SUV time here and nothing like Subaru.
19:16 oh my God. That's the most beautiful view I've ever seen! Damn
