Good review. About 30 hours in my 2019 200rr and thus far I am having the time of my life on that machine. I think I couldn't have made a better choice for my first full size two stroke enduro bike. Good stuff, indeed.
This video is what made me go for a 200rr instead of a bigger bike and im so happy with it! been giving it to a few 300 guys and they were really surprised by how well it performed. 10/10 would recommend this for anyone looking into trying enduro or want something to rip around the yard.
2004 200sx is one the best. Still has torque but the top end will remind you have a 125 only bad thing is the pipe is massive and need be carful woods riding.
I rode this bike during one of Beta's demo days and I loved it. I love 200 CC 2 strokes, they're the perfect size for me. Like you said, it's the perfect balance of power and torque and doesn't beat you up. You can lug it or wind it out. I ride more MX style but I still loved this bike. I had to Frankenbike the bike I ride now. I had a 2004 KTM 200 SX but didn't like the rear pds suspension so I bought a 2015 150 SX and swapped the 200 SX engine in it and couldn't be happier but the 200 RR from Beta is one hell of a bike. I had the same problem with the limited steering throw on my KTM but I took the bolts that were acting as stops and turned them in a couple turns. It makes a little contact with the radiators but it's worth it in my opinion.
Your description of this bike sounds just like my KTM 200! Big difference was that I had a 2006 which was the last year of the 125 Chassis. Which made the bike a little smaller which was awesome and confidence inspiring.
I own a 2019 200RR, and it is the most fun dirt bike I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot of different dirt bikes in my 28 years of riding. I'm so surprised with how much low end power this small bore 2T has. I ride in the Pacific NW woods where I prefer the tight single track stuff. That is where this bike really shines! Like Kyle says, the power is controllable, but still fun. The smile factor is when you are riding single track and in some spots you can wring the throttle open and the bike launches, but not so much that the bike feels out of control.
@@jotacalvo Since you can't buy a KTM 200 anymore, I would say better. But I do have a friend with a 2015 KTM 200, and we traded a bit. I wanted my Beta back after the trade. I just love the motor on the Beta and the compact frame. It's just a lot of fun.
Roost-a-Fish I was asking because I now ride a KTM 200. So which one to buy isnt really an issue. I’m just trying to figure out whether it would be an upgrade. I do have my Keihin tuned beautifully, and had the head cut. So motor-wise, I can’t imagine a stock Beta being better than my KTM. The turning radius would be a big deal to me, and the much heavier weight, as I’m a tight woods rider. But the smallish frame is a big factor for me, also, being so short. I think I need to ride one of these to know for sure.
I appreciate the turning radius info. We ride very tight ditches and the turn radius would be a deal killer. Information like this is invaluable. Thanks again.

It would be great to see the 2020 beta 300rr race version review from you if at all possible. I’m very interested in the new counter balanced engine. Love your channel and especially your honest reviews. Kudos to Beta for letting you review their bikes. They must be a real stand up company that backs their products and always listening to their consumers to improve their products. Keep up the great work and looking forward to the next video.
I own a 2019 200 rr. I think you did the most accurate review I have watched on youtube. Only other thing is the vibration is tireing on long rides on the 2019 anyway. I ride single track in the Tillamook Forest. Thinking about a 2022 300 xcw mainly for the suspension. Thanks Kyle!
Tyler Ghost yeah, I might have to wait and buy a used one. I guess i could sell my KTM, just not sure I’m ready to do that yet. I’ve been getting into the hard enduro, this seems like a great bike to make the transition from a 4 stroke to a 2stroke. Especially for someone like me who has only been riding for about 5 years now.
Thanks a lot for this Review. I actually ride a beta 350 rr and want to add a 2 Stroke. I am a beginner. What you recommend the husqvarna te 250 or beta 200 rr for a new guy? I mostly ride mx/enduro tracks, but wants to get deeper into technical stuff. I am 5'9 and about 140lbs. Regards from germany
It’s all about ability and then power I’ve seen it so many times when people think I’ll get the big bike and then it all goes wrong when your in a situation where you need skill.
241lbs ? Dang that thing comes in same as my 300RR Race Edition with 2 gallons of fuel in it. Love the Beta line all together, haven't ridden one that I didn't like yet. Tip: with the E-start only, carry a couple of spare fuses in case you lay the bike down and tear your horn off the radiator which causes the horn wires to arc and pop your fuse, then your e-start won't work.
Sold. Some radiator work and increased steering lock on the cards, though. I'm fed up with my big bike trying to ride me and spend more hours on my trials bike. This looks perfick. Cheers Kyle.
Just found this, I have a 2021 500 RRS four stroke, but I have been considering a 2 stroke that handles trails a little better, the 200 is on my radar now. 👍
Cant believe ktm stopped the 200's. Ive tested 150's and they simply dont have the grunt I need for the long technical uphills. I have a feeling they might make a 200 GasGas or Husky again when they realize how popular these are.
Exactly why I went to the Beta. My all time favorite bike was my 1998 KTM 200MXC. I held out on buying the Beta because I was hoping for them to bring back the 200. They didn’t and Beta got my money instead. Absolutely love the bike.
You mention the cheaper graphics, I have a few family and friends with betas and their graphics have black rub marks on them from their boots/pants. Looks bad, but doesn't really affect anything. I wonder how much more per unit it would cost them to get a better sticker set?
Awesome review!! I hope this helps people make the decision to purchase a Beta 200. I have a 2019 200 that I ride and race. It is an amazing bike, and my wish is that they bring the joy I have riding this bike to others.
My 2019 200 is the best bike I have ever ridden or raced. At 55 y/o and a ripped 150lb, former champion, the suspension is fantastic and I prefer it over race suspension.
Kyle, you mention this bike isn’t as light as others you’ve ridden. I’m looking for the lightest nimblest 2stroke there is. I’ve been eyeing this for a while
Very thorough review and excellent points on both the good and the areas to watch out for. Curious if you have ridden the XTrainer in the 200 or 300? Comparisons?
Sounds pretty great. I have a 2017 RR 300. Love it. It looks like the new 2020 headlight is larger. Is it a more beneficial light to the almost pointless 2017? Edit: Sorry, just saw the bit about the headlight.
I have to give it to you - you really went honest on BETA - Expect lots of Beta lovers hate LOL. Moreover i liked how u said that BETA factory hates when you compare it to the ORANGE bike! I don't really understand that -- if you have a good product you should not be afraid to be compared to other brands . Kudos and keep up the good work.
@@jacobworld333 IRONICALLY I dealt with this from fellow KTM owners before I pulled the trigger and purchased the 200 RR...Hey I like KTM, but IMO they never should have got away from the 200 platform, I've rode the KTM 150, the BETA 200 RR does circles around that bike...far more user friendly. Kyle's review was accurate...
Thank you I agree with you review besides the light's and horn. Why because as we all know when we ride some time's the time may fly past and dark comes then we can't ride as fast because we can't see yes maybe they should find better placement for the switches but it is a great idea for what I just said and also if you want your child hood dream to come true as for me it is for me to be able to ride my dirt bike legally on the road and I did everything possible to do just that
Nice Bike .. I like oil injection. I never could understand how oil would still work after being diluted in the gasoline.. They say you can use less oil with injection than with premix.. Skidoo computer controlled oil injection.. Injects the oil to critical points in the engine such as the crank bearings.. The oil ratio is richer at full power and less when running at a light load.. Thus if you ride easy you use much less oil than what you use at full throttle .. Skidoo also has direct fuel injection.. which is the ultimate.. because no raw fuel goes out the exhaust ports.. Emissions way down and fuel economy way up ..
What does the horn, turn, ect switches cause an issue with you? is it just appearance or does it diminish performance? it seems being palatable would be a plus.
I really want to get my hand on this bike hopefully my credit will be close to 700 next year im a owner of two cr250 and man I hate my bike went that power kicks in thw way u don’t want In the woods I really think this bike will help me with better riding!
Excellent review. I've always thought the 200 was such a versatile motorcycle so I was happy to see Beta put in valid effort into this one. I'll be jumping on a 150XC within the month due to the price I'm getting it for and the amount of fun I have on smaller two stroke motors. I don't think I'll have too much trouble keeping up with my buddies on their 250XC and FE 501, we'll see though! P.s. Great job on the detail in this review. I would love to ride this bike someday.
Thank you for doing at least a minor review of the lighting. Some of us are really interested in how well the stock lighting works. Do you know if a Beta dealer can get the OEM directionals (with compatible wiring) in the US? That would be a bonus for those of us who pursue street legality... Also, there must be *something* that can be done to tighten up the turning radius - re-locate the upper radiator mounts further back?
Hey Kyle in your opinion what would be a better fit for a rider coming off a Honda crf150f rides about 15hours a year! My wife is looking for a new bike and I’m researching the new ktm 150xcw tpi vs this beta 200rr she has a short inseam too 8 might add. You gave me great advise when I was searching for my new bike this year you told me to go with the ktm 300xcw tpi over Yamaha wr250 so I’m back asking for advise cheers great channel!
Great review mate I live in New Zealand. I'm in my early fifties 6 feet tall & have been away from riding for a long time due to a bad knee injury similar to yours & got into other things. Would you recommend on of these over a 300 or a completely different brand. Oh by the way I'm old school as far as wanting my next bike to be a 2 stroke. Cheers keep up the great work.
Either bike will be fine for you. Remember that the 300 has many ways you can tune the sting out of it, plus if you are around 100kgs the 300 has a bit more suspension tuning available to it. Or go a 300 Xtrainer. Modern 2 strokes are just soooo much fun compared to the 2 strokes of the 1970's I grew up with. Invest in good knee braces. And just ride:)
This must be the new KDX200 I am hoping, still one of the best trail bikes ever made and I am very hopeful that beta has picked up that baton and run with it.
im thinking of getting this as a first bike would it be good for mellow trail riding with friends cause i cant do anything with mountains yet till i get my license
As much as those interest me, that turning radius could be a deal breaker. I’m on the steering stops often. And the weight. But the seat height makes it super tempting. Decisions decisions
Kyle, great review. This bike would be a no-go for me. The turning radius is critical in the tight mountain woods single track I ride regularly. I ride a Husky TE150 and I just manage. My KTM Freeride had a much better turning radius than all the other KTM and Husky enduros and made a noticeable benefit. I break my Husky tails all the time 😭
I just bought a 2001 ktm 200 with about 50 hp and I absolutely love it. 2 guys I ride with have a beta 300 and a husky 300. Both loved it and the husky guy went out looking to buy one. Absolutely love the 200's
Very beautiful bike! I’ve always loved the 200 class! I didn’t see it but the front brake sounds like it has a floating rotor!? Plus I love the look of the plastic plus the lighting system is tucked in nice.😎🏁🥇
Bigger engine more low end torque most the time. 125s u have no power unless on the pipe 200s u have a bit of bottom end not nearly the torque of a 250 but 200s have a top end like a 125. And they all depend on jetting pipes and flyweight a 250sx with woods pipe has lot od torque not much top end put a sx pipe on it lot less torque and a lot of top end if your not ready it will sit u on your ass.
I’m 6’4 230ish my first bike was a exc200, it was perfect, definitely did not feel underpowered, waaaay more tourqey than a 125. 200 2stroke enduro is possibly THE best option for a beginner in my experience
I've had four strokes all my life, I am currently looking to switch over to a two stroke. That being said I am a shorter rider (5' 7") between this beta 200rr and the ktm 250xc which bike would you recommend for my first transition bike over to two strokes? I would classify myself an intermediate rider.
Xtrainer or 200rr I have owned a xr250 to mellow and a cr250 to aggressive (for trails still fun) and i ride alot of the EXACT same trails as you (kyle) just slower
Great video but i dont agree with your oppinion on the beta computer coz ktm gauge has alot more to offer it has trip 1, trip 2, timer 1, timer 2, laptimer, actual clock, hour meter, odometer and the speedo
Hi Kyle! Love your reviews. I am a 49 yr old new moto rider. Was thinking of the 2021 KTM XC W 150 TPI but after seeing your review I am wondering if you had any comments on the 2 bikes. I am not tall (5'7") and seat height is important to me. Thanks!
I have a KTM 200SX. I couldn't find a 200EXC in California. The high compression piston and heavy K3 flywheel make it great on trails. Why KTM ended the 200 line eludes me.
Good review but whats the deal with the tail light and blinkers / horn ? can you just take it out? I took it all out before the first ride.. It doesnt even worth mentioning.

Hey! Great review. Question, hopefully you can respond. Would you take this bike or one of the four strokes: YZ250FX or KX250X?
Thanks for the review and the honest disclosure of the bike. You’re a good guy mate 🤙
How does this compare to a 2009 KTM 200 XCW ? How much does the kick start kit cost ?…
Any bike without a kickstart is a hard no from me.
You have rode a beta 390 and a beta 200 what bike do you think is more fun to ride?
This must be the new KDX200 I am hoping, still one of the best trail bikes ever made and I am very hopeful that beta has picked up that baton and run with it.
im thinking of getting this as a first bike would it be good for mellow trail riding with friends cause i cant do anything with mountains yet till i get my license
Yes.
As much as those interest me, that turning radius could be a deal breaker. I’m on the steering stops often. And the weight. But the seat height makes it super tempting. Decisions decisions
19 Model has a better tuning radius and is cheaper by now
Are you going to review the 2T Racing models as well? EDIT: Nevermind, just saw the end of the video.
Bring on that beautiful ‘20 Race Edition 300!
Would you recommend this over a Ktm 150 for a beginner bike?
Do you still have this bike?? any interest in selling it?
Kyle, great review. This bike would be a no-go for me. The turning radius is critical in the tight mountain woods single track I ride regularly. I ride a Husky TE150 and I just manage. My KTM Freeride had a much better turning radius than all the other KTM and Husky enduros and made a noticeable benefit. I break my Husky tails all the time 😭
supergarball yeah the turning is a problem in the nasty stuff.
Learn to pivot? 😊
Ready to DIRT How do you think that would go on a steep downhill switch back?
@@supergarball well, I hate downhills so much. Not that good I suppose!! And I hope they gonna change that radius in the new 2022 rr
I love this bike!👍🤠
I just bought a 2001 ktm 200 with about 50 hp and I absolutely love it. 2 guys I ride with have a beta 300 and a husky 300. Both loved it and the husky guy went out looking to buy one. Absolutely love the 200's
Your KTM has 36HP, not 50HP.
Hey Kyle I'm a noob to your channel too can I ask how much you weigh? I'm 6'-3" @ 220 and this bike looks like fun but maybe too small ?
Love my Beta 300rr but if I had to do it over again I would do a 200.
Very beautiful bike! I’ve always loved the 200 class! I didn’t see it but the front brake sounds like it has a floating rotor!? Plus I love the look of the plastic plus the lighting system is tucked in nice.😎🏁🥇
Actually I should tell them about trail riding because I feel they would be more open to that because I do mountain biking
Anyone tried a 200 w rekluse auto? Thinking it could do most all heinous stuff similar to a 300 ...???
I would love to see a video where you compare the sounds of all 2-stroke engine sizes. 125, 150, 200, 250, 300...
@@cowpker4life333 Right. I knew that already. I just asked for sound comparisons. Not a comparison for how they ride.
Dang i was waiting for a #Podcast on this. Enjoying them more i can work while listening.
Great reviews! Would you recommend this or a YZ250X for a beginner for single track and fire trails? I'm 6ft 250lb with gear.
I’m 6’4 230ish my first bike was a exc200, it was perfect, definitely did not feel underpowered, waaaay more tourqey than a 125. 200 2stroke enduro is possibly THE best option for a beginner in my experience
@@27walker27 legend, thanks.
I've had four strokes all my life, I am currently looking to switch over to a two stroke. That being said I am a shorter rider (5' 7") between this beta 200rr and the ktm 250xc which bike would you recommend for my first transition bike over to two strokes? I would classify myself an intermediate rider.
Excellent review - much appreciated!
On that note - wishing you a great new year
Thank you
Xtrainer or 200rr
I have owned a xr250 to mellow and a cr250 to aggressive (for trails still fun) and i ride alot of the EXACT same trails as you (kyle) just slower
Beta 200rr vs ktm 250 xc-w video??
In singapore the bike cost 19k, it suxx for the price here
Great video but i dont agree with your oppinion on the beta computer coz ktm gauge has alot more to offer it has trip 1, trip 2, timer 1, timer 2, laptimer, actual clock, hour meter, odometer and the speedo
I wish they offered a 200 race edition with the KYB forks. Maybe next year.
Hi Kyle! Love your reviews. I am a 49 yr old new moto rider. Was thinking of the 2021 KTM XC W 150 TPI but after seeing your review I am wondering if you had any comments on the 2 bikes. I am not tall (5'7") and seat height is important to me. Thanks!
Chek out the Beta Xtrainer
Good review
I have a 2009 ktm 200 xcw and it has everything this bike has minus the electric start
I don't agree your opinion about the head light. It is no good, simply sucks, impossible the ride offroad with that stock head light in the dark
I have a KTM 200SX. I couldn't find a 200EXC in California.
The high compression piston and heavy K3 flywheel make it great on trails. Why KTM ended the 200 line eludes me.
Maybe because they have a 125 150 and 250. Could of dropped the 150 imo and kept the 200 but what are you going do.
@@cowpker4life333 the new cases might not be strong enough for a 200. Using them for the 125/150 might be the design limits.
Good review but whats the deal with the tail light and blinkers / horn ? can you just take it out? I took it all out before the first ride.. It doesnt even worth mentioning.
It was worth mentioning..i want one that can be road league
Any chance you will get a chance to try one of the new 2020 xtrainers?
Very low chance. After the 2020 Beta 300RR Race Edition, I'll be doing something else. This will be 3 Betas in 12 months. Time for some other bikes.
