How long did this take you? I live in LA and this is my current diagnostic and going to look at getting it repaired this week. BTW so helpful to get this thorough video.
I’ve got a G30 and since flashing with bootmod3 I get a 21b045 upper radiator shutter communications fault. I never had this code before. Bootmod3 can’t fix it. What is strange is that my car never came with radiator blinds from factory, I only have a radiator duct. I confirmed this with the bmw dealer it was delivered from. I replaced the upper kidney grill shutters actuator but this made no difference. Don’t understand how my car can throw a code for something that was never fitted from factory??
This just happened on my ‘19 w/ 118k miles. However they are closed and don’t seem to be damaged. Is it best to replace them anyway or could it just be the motor not working?
@@adisonwirth1059it’s interesting because the check engine light comes on when it wants to. All day it never came on and I used the AC on this warm day the shutters were also open.

Just got a quote for 1k under warranty and the dealer said it's not under warranty. It's absolutely robbery

Took me about an hour and a half while taking the video. If you don't consider yourself very mechanically inclined I would plan on around 3 hours.
Has anyone done this, if so how long did it take ? Not a big mechanic but I’m willing to take on this project by myself
Hello, I seemed to have ruined my upper active shutter assembly. Will the bumper need to come off in order to replace that as well?

Ok, great video, BUT what are the options of stopping this from happening so often
You could always install some wire mesh behind the grill to stop rocks getting though

@SoLA489 if you are getting codes you will need to replace them anyways to pass emissions. Sometimes the damage isn't as obvious.

@SoLA489 sounds like the same issue. With the car running turn AC on to MAX and you should be able to verify that the blinds open.
