      Read Owen.
Fill your mind with the wealth of literature.
      Read plays.
      Read them out loud.
Read them to your friend, your cat, dog or the wall.
Take the language into your mouth.
      Don’t worry about your confidence.
      It will follow.

I realize your question has been around for a while. I tell my students to stay away from monologue sites and actually read plays from scripts. The websites are so picked over and have many untested, unpublished and too many "I remember" monologues. Read scripts!.Piece together. It is okay. Just plan on putting time into finding good material.

What if you know what you’d probably be good as in a film/show but you can’t find a monologue for it?
I feel that I’d be good as a young antihero (I’m 12 goring on 13) in an action movie. But, I can’t find any monologues that would fit my “character”.
Should I just try a script from an already made movie/show? What if the show is popular in my country? Am I allowed to do that?
    I really need help!

i get the point of when the play is too known but in some school they gives you a list of classical repertoire and you have to choose one so....

    • @TheActorsAcademy
      @TheActorsAcademy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

It’s up to the individual on what monologue they decide to choose. They can choose one from a popular play or one that is less known. What tends to be more important though are the importance of character and how much those characters are present. For example the more popular a piece is, the more likely someone is to have already seen it (by other actors auditioning or professional actors) which can make it hard to not compare one actor to another, even subconsciously.
Now when you say a list, I assume you are mainly referring to this for classical monologues, correct? Unless you are already in drama school, than they may give a list to choose from, but normally when audition for drama school programs you get to choose your monologues (with the somewhat exception to your classical monologue, as they will suggest a playwright to you, but not necessarily a play.) this is normally how the process will go for 99% of your drama school auditions.

    • @hedgepig1258

Go for the lesser well-known plays.
It’s not the material that will ‘book you the job’, it’s your technique, attitude and preparation.
I have sat through an endless stream of the same well-known monologue.
      Give us something new.
