  • John Deere 750B sitting in the woods by my house for about 12 years.
It was grown over but the power company just came through and did a bunch of clearing so it is more exposed.

I have been eyeballing a JD 550C sitting next to an old abandoned farmhouse on a state highway here in Louisiana for many years now. After discovering channels like yours here on YT, the curiosity got the best of me. I passed it for years driving down to my old hometown 40 miles south of me. I used an app on my phone to tell me who owns the property. With a little research, I found the owner. He lives five miles from me. lol. I could not find a good phone number for him. I simply drove up to his home and enquired. He tells me he purchased it at auction from the State Forestry here in Louisiana 20 years ago, that he put maybe 400 hours on the machine. He hired an "operator" to do some land clearing. This "operator" somehow managed to crack the right side final drive housing causing a leak. A 5 gallon or fluid/oil in a 10 hour day. He parked it where it now sits 12 or so years ago. I'm told he did his best to patch the crack with some JB Weld, but all that did was slow down the leak just a bit.
The undercarriage looks pretty good for its age. it most definitely has been well maintained being a former state-owned asset. He's an older gentleman now. I asked if he had kids that would be interested in bringing it back to life. He said his kids have zero interest in any of his old equipment. He said "I would take 8k for it. It runs fine and drives and shifts great" It has a 6-way blade and a Massive Winch on the rear and a ripper attachment he would throw-in. I'm considering it as we speak.
    Thanks for sharing your find.
    Cheers from Louisiana.

If the engine runs get it running come in with a service truck and weld tips on the sprocket. Move it a 1/4 turn and weld more till it's welded all the way around the pump some more grease in the track tensioner to make it snug and then drive it out. This is after you buy it. Weld the heck out of the sprocket Later

Seen this type of deal before. Saw an entire quarry abandoned full of half decent machines. Found out owner had back taxes due on land and he was in financial problems. May be this dozer was last thing on owners mind, but he would sell. Make good farm machine. That's a great engine in that dozer.

Sometimes people park things up with good intentions then life moves on, crap happens etc & they are unable to go back for it!
Everything costs $ including recovering a dozer, & if you haven’t got it handy to spend, well sometimes you have to choose to just walk away!
Who knows, track the owner down & make him an offer, he can only say no at worst case scenario!
Nothing runs like a deer except when they legs broke, then they don’t run much at all! 😂😂

    • @user-bc3pc5gu2y

I was pulling out of a parking lot with my dad pulling out not far behind. I stopped for an ambulance to go by and some idiot tried passing me and slammed into the car i was driving and tried to take off. I got out and ran after him eventually getting ahead of his car and standing in front so he wouldn't take of again. My dad, who saw everything from where he was driving stopped and got out going up to the window to request drivers details. The driver took off with me on the hood making sharp turns left and right, not that the road wasn't curvy enough, driving as fast as he could. I was on there for a long time when he relized he wasn't throwing me off so he stopped, got out and tried running after me with a screwdriver. By then enough people saw what was happening and road down is plate number. So i got off doubled back, and got the number from someone. When i returned to where it started, there were medics and police. So some time checking me out physically and giving info to the police, and it was decided i should go to er just incase though i was fine. Where am i getting at? After all this, actually while i was in er, they took my car to the police lot, and tgen my father looked for his car. Then the police helped him look for his car. Where can it be, must be stolen. Additional police report and looking. Eventually he found it, exactly where he stopped, behind the offending driver when he asked for his details, in a no stopping zone with the engine running (i think) and his laptop computer inside and untouched (and no parking tickets). The trauma of seeing his kid dragged of at high speed on the front of a car hood made him forget where he parked his vehicle. So you never know what was going through the tractor operators mind, causing him to leave it there. Though it was probably because it was a p.o.s. not worth purting anymore money into. And everyone says "i'd take it and fix it up", hell i would too, that doesn't mean it is a good idea.
