Wyatt Earp, famous or infamous as being a participant at the gun fight at the OK Corral, lived in Tonopah in the early part of the 1900s. He was partial owner of the Northern Saloon, and also worked for a company that hauled ore. A few years later, he would join his older brother Virgil, in Goldfield, Nevada. It has been said that Wyatt Earp tended bar at the Mizpah, but, that hotel was not in existence at the time when Wyatt lived there.
I love all of Kyle's west coast videos because I have done (or want to do) a lot of these drives. And this one (i.e. Tonopah) are very interesting as a near future drive.
My neighbor back home is from Tonopah, born & raised
Love your grandpa, a great traveling companion! NV has very unusual terrain, which I like. I think it's beautiful. Enjoyed the video!
These hotels were a lot scarier than the others.
Hey Kyle, I have a correction to your assertion to the Mizpah Hotel being the first hotel to have an elevator; actually it’s the oldest Hotel with an elevator, but the first Hotel was the International Hotel in Virginia City.
The Mizpah is the most haunted hotel
Tonopah Nv. is home to an insane amount of aviation history. A big chunk of it is "Black Projects" the public will never find out about.
