How amazing to look and listen to such a well put together film and give us all knowledge to the past times of Wrexham....thank you to all that contributed to this production....Jane Rochfort
I so enjoyed this insight into Wrexham's past....Although born in England....Wrexham and Wales is now where I call home...my son born here and proud to be Welsh follows Wrexham AFC....I don't think any towns are what they used to be....a hub of friendly people I dare say it is the day and age we now live in....not always for the good....Jane.... Loved this, so many areas completely unrecognisable these days. Surprised they didn’t show the football stadium the oldest international football stadium in the world!
Came to Wrexham 1993 thinking it would do me for five years. The only place you could get a coffee then was McDonalds so that’s one thing which has improved. But there are a lot of people left behind in the modern world not just in the town but in the outlying villages where there is no work and little public transport. But that’s not the whole story and l find it an endlessly fascinating place
@@yeahthatguysi4990 . Late on in the video the narrator says that bingo at the original Odeon Theatre in Brook Street was still being played there "to this day". Bingo ceased there in May 1999, so the time the video was made must have been around 1998 or early 1999 I would guess. This film was first available on VHS tape and must be a subsequent transfer to DVD. [I was raised in Wrexham and lived there from 1938 to 1958]
@@garydavis2688 If I remember correctly Liquid and envy took over the old odeon when I was 17 so that would be 2001 so you could be correct on the timeline :) wrexham too lived here since 1986 :D
