They overclock/undervolt wonderfully. They also look really good. I have the Black 7900 XT and XTX. Used the 7900XT until just recently, because I am running a 6K monitor. The XTX doesn't require FSR to get to the 60 FPS the monitor can handle in Riftbreaker.

For the price difference between a 4090 vs. a 7900 XTX you can get most of the way to a really good HDR monitor and not give a care about RT.

You also loose DLSS, you cant ignore DLSS is still tangibly better than FSR. That said I refuse to support the RTX 4090 price point.

    • @robertmyers6488
      @robertmyers6488 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

@Battleneter The 7900 XTX and the XT have more than enough power to not need it through 4K. Even if they did it isn't that much of a difference. Motion is better on DLSS but image clarity is better on FSR. Haven't used them have you?

    • @robertmyers6488
      @robertmyers6488 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

@Battleneter I'm not opposed to the price if it allows you to do things you wouldn't otherwise be able to do. I now have a 6K HDR600 monitor. The clarity, colors, and levels of gray are phenomenal, but it is limited to 60 Hz. The 7900 XT was getting 45 native, but with FSR quality it went to 60 improving motion. The XTX can do it at 60 native. If the Monitor had a higher refresh like 120 then it might be required to have something like the 4090. All three cards have the most important feature which is greater than 16GB, but at 6K you are pushing very close to 20. The 7900XT is easily the most under rated best value card with an easy tune.

    • @robertmyers6488
      @robertmyers6488 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@RmX. Exactly, or a QD for a bit more money. I wish they had a 27" QD OLED 240 HZ. 32" is just too low a pixel density for me. I had them for years, but Apple is correct about image quality and pixel density. When Apple introduced the the 5K Imacs I bought my first Apple. Loved the screen and the OS then was still pretty good. However Ryzen was released a couple of years later and that was a seismic shift that I couldn't ignore. So it was back to 4K.

The thing about RT, is that it's great on the 4090, but below that card, it destroys frame rates to the point it's not worth the trade-off for a bit of extra bling. For First-person Shooter games, RT and DLSS etc are no advantage. The 4090 is without argument, substantially better than the XTX. But is the 4090 worth twice the price of an XTX? No way, it's great but not THAT great. Anyway, I got an XTX direct from Amazon, on a very limited flash sale, for 780.00, so no contest! Edit: ASUS Tuf version.

After reading a lot of the comments about the 4090 vs the 7900XTX iv noticed that a lot of AMD owners are happy with and or aiming for 60 FPS at any resolution. I think this is the disconnect here, people who are dropping the money on a 4090 mostly want over 100 fps and most likely find 60 fps to be completely unacceptable to even "laggy"... so just consider that their is a huge difference in standards and performance expectations for people who are happy to drop the money for a 4090 vs the people trying to get the best bang for their buck with anything AMD.

Microcenter just sent me an email yesterday afternoon offering to buy back my 18-month old 7900xtx for $800 (store credit). No way I'm taking them up on it, but the timing seemed funny. As a Linux gamer, nVidia just isn't a viable option because of the driver situation (especially since Linux HDR gaming just flat out doesn't work on nVidia hardware), and AMD isn't making an equivalent or better card in the 8000 series. Overall, have nothing but good things to say about navi31, with the exception of the HDMI 2.1 open source driver fiasco.

Lol, 800 bucks for AMD aging card while new 5080 will smoke brakes off of it
Go take up that offer and upgrade to something of between 4080 and 4090 quality card (5080) with 300-400 dollar upgrade
Speculations say 5080 will beat 4090, though I personally doubt it.
      I tried 7900xtx. And I owne 4090. 7900xtx is 2 tiers below. Not 1 tier.
7900xtx is as close as you can get with 4080. But 4080 drivers are super stable.

Once you compress the colours and their values - no amount of tweaking can bring them back. But to those who never try AMD, they would never know this difference.

My only problem was that I got really into VR flight simming a week after getting mine, and the 4090 does seem to have a decent increase in both frame rate and visual quality in that case. For most games the difference in price wasn't justifiable unless I planned on not upgrading for the next 5-6 years. If the 5090 lives up close to the hype and isn't insanely priced compared to the already crazy prices I'll probably be upgrading a lot sooner though.
Oh, I should probably mention one big con and that's that I haven't been able to open up the AMD software to update since that Bethesda space game came out. The last year has been pretty rough for me when it came to driver stability. I was having issues with temperatures, I was having performance issues, and I was having crashing problems, and all of those were cars by different bad drivers at different times. The last update that made me decide to get rid of the card, would cause my GPU to be running at almost 100% while sitting on the desktop and so my idle temperatures were in the 60s and my gaming hotspot temp went to 95C. Rolling back the drivers didn’t work, I had to use DDU and completely wipe and reinstall from scratch just to get the temp issue to go away.
So far, I’m loving my 4090, all my games play at either High or ultras settings and max out my monitor and that’s all that I can ask for.

Ray tracing implementation has not gotten to a point where ray tracing really matters. I have a 7900 XTX as half the games that I play don't even have ray tracing. The ones that do, I wouldn't turn it on at all as I want decent framerates. I may care about the feature is another decade when NVidia's CEO has bought his 500th f'ing leather jacket and is finally correct that ray tracing is properly supported by the current hardware. Right now, the hardware if fine for running it as a cutscene, nothing more.

I don't see why anyone would objectively downgrade to a 7900XTX, as someone who upgraded from an EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra to a PowerColor Red Devil 7900XTX. Sure, the 7900XTX has been awesome and driver stability is great but I will say that while I was having driver issues with my 3070 towards the end, I also had issues with my AMD drivers.
TLDR: anyone who has a 4090 has it because they can afford it and can use the extra power so there is literally zero reason to replace it with the 7900XTX lol. This is a pretty dumb comparison as much as I love AMD and am an owner myself

4090/5090 are production cards and overkill for most. 7900 XTX and 4080 are the cards that most need feedback. But that said INTEL build with Battlemage would be my choice. The performance would be on bar with 7900 XTX and 4080 and future proof with APO that will challenge 5080 in the future.
I think you should test and make a video of A770 with REBAR and the point that there is no waiting and FPS count you could almost double because ARC architecture pairs with CPU. AMD/Nvidia doesn't and uses one silicone. Test programs and FPS counters do not take this in count. I use A770 for 4k with good results and value for money. 4070ti would give more FPS but bad stutter for bad experience. It is almost spot on that 60 FPS from ARC is 120FPS from 4070ti but no waiting on tasks with ARC and every frame from ARC matters. It is two silicone's via REBAR vs one standalone silicone. So my view is that the 60FPS doesn't take in count the CPU pairing and the performance in reality is double if not more. My experience is with A770 is that if you can get 40FPS the game is very playable. Same you can't say from 4070ti even 120FPS where one silicone can't queue tasks without stutter. Lot more FPS is needed for the same performance. Also has to be said XeSS XMX specific for ARC is very close to DLSS and better than FSR. Also I would like to point out AMD doesn't run all of the games just like Nvidia. Both have their developments and game designers to suit. ARC doesn't work on all games either but the numbers are not that far from AMD/Nvidia.

When any brand will get you there and safely. Same with video cards. Folks with 1080p 60 hz monitors do not need a RTX 4090. Really for anything that a lesser card could do and even get the same results at a way cheaper price. There are always going to be bottlenecks in this case it is the monitor.

A quarter to a third of the price, less power draw, much smaller so I can get a small case and I honestly don't care too much about Raytracing many games I play like Rimworld, TW Warhammer, Supreme commander don't use raytracing anyway.

I went from a 580 to a 5700 to a 3080 and the software is still way behind. Way behind. Bare in mind that it was a 2 out of 10 before, having to jump between 4 apps to do what you want and the two best programs not even being made by Nvidia in Afterburner and Riva Tuner. Remove those and the old Control Panel was a legit 1 out of 10. Now I'd say they are at a 5.5 out of 10 if we put AMD's Catalyst software suite at a 9. I'd say it has the potential to get to the same spot assuming the person is familiar with it, though I still find the layout in AMD's suite to be a little bit more intuitive.
Whatever the case, the jump from a 2 to a 5+ is pretty huge in-and-of itself so I am not complaining, and with a few tweaks to the layout itself along with fixing some blacked out options and adding a few, some of which will be fixed with actual hardware adjustments like oh idk......using the latest display port technology as opposed to sticking people on 1.4? Lol, seriously, what did that save them? 35 cents per unit? That's fine for 60 class cards and below (for now) but on 3080+ cards they need to do a little better. Anything 70's and up in the Lovelace lineup should have been 2.0+ compatible out of the box. What a ridiculous decision considering the launch prices on these things. At that point just add 50 fricken cents to the product. No one is going to care and it was really, really a poor decision to say _"Eh, who needs high refresh rates at 4K? They'll drop to 720P if they are that concerned. I mean do they really want more than 50% GPU usage while playing CSGO? If you think about it, we are saving them money on their energy bills at the cost of "KD" ratios which no one really pays attention to anyway."_ Lol, it's better than being banned for anti-lag software I suppose, but not much considering they made the decision on purpose.

this comment is going to be enormous, don't read it, I wouldn't either ngl, just wanted to write whatever came to my mind, and I ain't hating or anything,
AMD is improving their GPU performance in every regard at a very fast pace, excited to see what their RDNA4 is capable of and how they will perform in terms of ray tracing, maybe the gen after the next AMD might even be able to compete or hopefully beat nvidia in ray tracing, cuz Nvidia really needs some good competition or else they gonna keep up with their horrendous pricing,
7900 XTX has amazing performance per dollar, I aint gonna hate on AMD, they are doing amazing work, I wish 40 series GPUs were as cheap as the AMD counterparts, best GPU under 1000$, its as good and sometimes better than a 4080, but its not comparable to 4090 in most cases, but this is supposed to be 7900XTX VS. 4090 video but he talked about how 4090 isn't compatible with some monitors, HDR problems and these monitor related issues, its supposed to be more GPU vs GPU, its a big issue, yeah, but this turned into more of a monitor video, the original list also mostly states the display problems, there are issues you should consider, but you can just get a monitor that is very compatible with 4090 and this solves 90% of his 4090 complaints, I love his content, but this video ain't it, lemme give my pros and cons regarding 4090
    4090
    Cons:
you can buy a car with that price
in Raster performance, in a few games (mostly titles that prefer AMD), it's only barely better than 7900XTX while being significantly more expensive
performance per dollar is not worth it
Monitor compatibility is a problem many times like stated in the video
cant think of anything else tbh, I'm sure there are more, but nothing that major
    Pros:
its the fastest overall GPU right now
DLSS is significantly better than FSR on every level, from upscaling to frame gen ( I don't have a 40 series GPU, I love the fact that AMD lets everyone use FSR frame gen, I hate Nvidia in this matter)
video editing, photo editing, 3D work, game dev, and other productivity software, most content creation work, 4090 is better especially Blender,
when you are spending over 500$ on GPUs, don't lie to yourself, you wanna use ray tracing, and you want it to run well, any AMD users who are saying they don't like raytracing or raytracing isn't even that good, either they actually don't want it cuz raytracing will decrease FPS no matter which GPU you own, or you are just tryna cope with the fact that the best AMD GPU cant even compete with 4070 in terms of Raytracing, ray tracing makes any game look better, and no one can change my mind about that
if you read this, you definitely don't have ADHD

Of course he did it for clicks, this is how he makes part or all of his living. I'm guessing he was also was personally interested in how AMD performed vrs Nvidia, but at the end of the day everyone's TH-cam videos are created for views and clicks for monetary gain.
A year ago, when he first sold his Nvidia Card for AMD, I immediately clicked because I was thinking "what an idiot"..lol
But, I'm glad he did it because I was interested in seeing just how bad of an experience he was going to have.
So at the end of the day he provided value for me and made money off of me. Perfect example of capitalism.

Ill give him credit for trying 7900XTX for a year, tiz funny on the nvidia list though G9 57" if you knew anything about display tech you'd know that 4090 cannot do 240hz because DP 1.4 even the 7900xtx has some compression because 13.5hbr vs PRO 7900 which has the full 20hbr. That black screen alt tab would be killer for productivity adds up over time thise 3 to 5 seconds... a note i have 2 7900xtx's

I built two gaming PCs and used 7900XTX in both of them just because DLSS performs horribly at 4K120, if I'm going to be playing at native res anyway then there's no reason to buy Nvidia.

At the speed current GPUs editing video and photos aren't some kind of massive difference which is damning, unless you are by the hour 4k video editing for a living AMD is the way to go.

Actually RDNA3 is noticeably faster in video editing at comparable price.
Because AMD provides 2xVCN blocks starting from 7700XT, while Nvidia provides 2xNVENC blocks only starting from 4070Ti this generation. Which is A LOT more expensive.
On opposite side of scales i will put facts that
      1. Unlike VCN, NVENC supports YUV444.
      2. NVENC has double pass (while VCN is using lookahead)
      3. VCN is noticeably worse with AVC (H.264)... Difference becomes a lot smaller with HEVC and AV1. Still behind, but not so much that people could easily discern difference.
Anyways, for work people usually use Nvidia due to CUDA existance more than anything.
P.S. currently transcoding movie with upscale on my 7800XT.

i had two pc in my office, one with the 3050, and one with rx 6600. the rx 6600 gives me a drivers-related issues in Adobe software. the graphics acceleration is suddenly goes off and it affect the smoothness of zooming and panning. it doesn't happen often, but it happened, and when it happen it feels bad especially during time sensitives project. in the other side, the 3050 system never facing such an issues.

@@KanakaBhaswaraPrabhata iirc people don't like Premiere on Windows for example. Because it is simply unstable enough there, so companies buy Mac's for rendering.
Adobe products aren't that reliable by itself. And AMD average unpopularity doesn't help, as they give priority to Nvidia users, of course.
      Also, DaVinci Resolve exists.

RDNA4 won't have a RTX5090 competter but Cuts gap on ray-tracing and AMD are supposed to be going low on prices. I suspect RDNA4 is stop gap with RDNA5 high end coming sooner than most expect them. With ground up redesign They may finally get chiplet working in gpu like cpu. I'm hoping Intel makes huge strides on hardware & drivers then commits to at least 10 more gens as 3 competitors is better than 2 price & performance wise.

Why after all this time, people keep ignoring the fact that AMD themselves stated that the 7900xtx competes with the 4080?
About RT, it's the same BS " in Cyberpunk 2077".
Stop, it's stupid to ignore the fact that so far, only one game is the showcase for this and does not justify spending over US$2K for a GPU.
And dlss is a locking tech that limits your options as a consumer.
You, as an influencer, need to be concerned in providing correct info, instead of blindly following the marketing dept material.

I have both and use both gpu and I regret to say thet the 7900xtx is not close to the 4090, it lags far behind. You can't compare them. It's like comparing a WRC car to a Formula One.
