- Israel's government shut down the operations of the Al Jazeera television network in the country on May 5. Branding the news organisation a mouthpiece of Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister said the cabinet agreed to the closure amid the war in Gaza. Netanyahu announced the decision on X, adding “The government… unanimously decided: the incitement channel Al Jazeera will be closed in Israel.” After the order, police raided the Qatari broadcaster's office at the Ambassador Hotel in Jerusalem. A video posted by the minister on X shows police officers and inspectors from the ministry entering a hotel room. Watch the video to find out more.
