      You are so welcome! Not going to lie, I get scared and hesitate every time I am about to do it - but it always dries out well [ especially on 300lbs paper - I only used 140lbs here , but somehow it still took all 5 layers of color:)))))

    I love watching this pouring technique and how the paint just flows and blends with each other! You have to have a pretty good imagination and a clear understanding of what colors when mixed together will work. I have only recently discovered your demos on You Tube; I truly appreciate your teaching style and how transparent yet vibrant your paintings are! Thank you for sharing your gift.

    I loved watching this technique and had always wondered how it was done. Beautiful results and lovely music that accompanied the journey. I don’t feel ready to jump into this quite yet. Still tackling getting my paintings to be luminous and not overworked. Will keep watching how you achieve THOSE results.

      Glad you enjoyed it Heidi! :) I like your approach - It took me a while to figure out backgrounds. In the beginning I always painted subjects without a background, then slowly started experimenting wuth a few overlapping objects. Then I discovered Kanta Harusaki channel and started practicing backgrounds. This is why I love watercolor - always something new to try ❤

    Fabulous way to pour and use brushes. Love how you lifted early on and the lines stayed put. Soft and subtle. I have tried this once before in a class and ad tons of fun, but what a mess . We soaked both sides of our paper and used mostly staining pigments in layers of pour. This looks a little less messy. Going to look for a syringe. Thank you. Love your detailed work.

    • @AnnaBucciarelli
      @AnnaBucciarelli  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Alison!! ❤️ this is such an unpredictable but enjoyable process 😊 experimenting is key - I don’t know about wetting on both sides (intuitively I don’t think it would work on 140lbs in fact I wonder if thicker paper like 600 gsm wetted on one side only is better) but I think the key is to put all expectations aside and just try different things. Syringes definitely help making the entire process more controlled - let me know how you like it!! ❤️

    I'm binge watching all of your videos. I'm learning so much. Your tutorials are the reason I'm planning to get a skill share membership. To answer your question.. My biggest issue with painting white flowers is over painting the shadows and not leaving enough highlights. So my white flowers look dull. They usually end up having way too much gray tones in them. I'm excited to try your techniques. Thank you again!

      Thank you Carol! 😊 I always paint on paper blocks (Arches or Windsor & Newton) the blocks typically contain 10-20 paper sheets glued on all 4 sides. Once the painting is ready I just peel the sheet off. It’s fantastic because I don’t like wasting time on stretching and also in many cases - like this painting - like to have an option of rotating my paper during pouring. Hope this helps! ❤️ Have a wonderful day!

      Thank you Jayne! no worries:) I don't like using hair dryer because I suspect the heat will affect the colors / paper. I may be off here, I just can't imagine that it wouldn't interact at all, and prefer to follow the natural progression of drying. I generally have 3-4 paintings on the go so it's not an issue, and also I use the drying time to edit videos :)

      Thank you Virginia! Yes, most are wet on wet. With 1 day drying time in between layers usually. I am getting better at noting the drying breaks in my more recent videos. Thank you for your support! 💖

      Thank you Donyae! :) I don't really know the song, I subscribe to Artlist and just search for some quiet melodies usually, from independent artists.

    How do you get the paper not to curl? Does leaving the paper attached to the packet help?

  • @elainelogan2023

    Hi Anna, question for you. Why not use white gauche rather than masking?

    • @AnnaBucciarelli
      @AnnaBucciarelli  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question - I use both. Masking is a more “pure” way of doing it because it allows you to erase and paint the white areas later. Gouache tends to look a bit muddy - not the same light effect as leaving white paper. But I do use it for things like fur highlights, whiskers etc. hope this makes sense 😊❤️

    Thank you for an exciting technique I can't wait to try. What brush are you using to lift? I would like to purchase one. Thanks Anna!!!!!!

      Thank you! I:)) am using a flat synthetic squirrel from Escoda called "Perla"! I love synthetic flats for lifting - you can see the full review of this brush [and the other 2 in the set] here th-cam.com/video/DRbFFPey4V8/w-d-xo.html

      Arches cold pressed block - 140lbs. Blocks do not require stretching and generally don’t buckle as much.

    Hi what masking fluid did you use ? I haven’t done it before so like to know which one is best? Thanks

    • @AnnaBucciarelli
      @AnnaBucciarelli  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! I’ve tried them all and there are 2 stand out brands: 1) Winsor and Newton Art Masking fluid is the most fluid and the one I used here. The way it’s stored - lasts forever (many brands really fail in packaging as fluid tends to very quickly thicken and gets hard after a few
      uses) 2) Dr. Phil Martin Liquid Frisket - BUT only Level 2 is good (avoid level 1). Note that this one comes with its own pipette which is actually quite useful. Those are my favourites ☺️ Let me know if you try any of them and your experience.

    Anna, I cannot see where I have been when I paint white masking fluid on white paper. Is there a solution to overcome this problem? Thank you from a beginner.

    • @AnnaBucciarelli
      @AnnaBucciarelli  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - you can get tinted masking fluid. Mine from Winsor & Newton is slightly yellow. Shminke has a deeper blue type you can see very clearly on paper 💜
