!yes on an emd the Pistons do rotate, because the rest pin is mounted to a piston carrier ,like a piston inside a piston a large snap ring holds the piston outer shell to the inner piston know as the piston carrier!on a 2stroke engine the piston is always under a downward force.the connecting rod on the one bank of cylinders doesn't even have a rod cap it's held in place by flanges made on the master rod it also bears on the outside of the rod bearing while the master rod bears on the crankshafht bearing the forked rod doesn't contact the crank it contacts the outside of the rod bearing only unless you've seen one this is all to confusing but I'm correct on this hope this was clear!

Locomotive Systems,,,,you have my like to you,,,,Daniel from Argentina. Sure you are proffessor or engineer,,,you speak with clarity and naturally.....thanks,I comment a problem with Alco 4 strokes engines turbo,,,and the huge smoke,,, anoter day i will erite a comment,,,and i wish your opinnion if i am in a mistake.

working on an emd 645, didn't realize what the carbon was. thought it was dirt making it past the air filters or turbo material

Does anyone know (for EMD roots blown or turbo’s) if there is difference in the cam grinds for railroad, marine or industrial applications? And, while sounds when speaking a little ‘muffled’, I suspect this is a mic problem.

I have problems for spefic fuel of consumption rate of Engine EMD 645/20 cylinders in acatloge 0 .24 L/kwh while in actual is 0.30L/Kwh
What is the procedure to do to decrease s.f.c

What is the purpose of rotating piston in EMDs?

the dipstick says check oil at idle..our emd only runs at 750 rpms and is not on the stick???

2400 lbs firing pressure is not possible...2strokes are lower in firing pressure...i never heard of any 2 stroke with figures like that...big 4 strokes max out at 12 to 14 hundred psi...i don't know where he got those figures...it wouldn't last long at 2400 psi...

Pistons don't rotate, pistons rings do.

nakternal pistons rotate on EMD, they have a thrust washer/snap ring set up ontop of the conrod to piston carrier.

The intercooler does not cut the temperature is half. More like 20-30%, depending on which scale he is refencing. Temperature is not measured from zero on the F or C scale, but from absolute zero. This instructor is wrong on his physics, and inarticulate. I know only a little about diesel mechanics, but I could do a better job.

Them EMD burn some oil. It’s lieu having oil injection.

This guy either doesn't have a good grasp of the topic or he is drunk. I'm leaning towards drunk.
