Another great video, I really enjoy watching you stitch. I rarely do zips these days because I like a looser fit but in my early sewing days (the 70s) styles were much more fitted and pretty near every thing needed a zip. Something I found helpful was to put the zip in before I joined front and back together, patterns rarely tell you to this but it is so much easier to deal with a zip with flat fabric either side. It does mean you have to be sure of the fit or that you can do any alterations on the side seams but it usually worked for me. Hope this tip helps. Thanks again for your time making this video ❤
Love your finished dress, I tried making this dress in the summer but struggled to get the fit right around the bust. It’s been put in the naughty corner for now but after seeing yours I think I’ll get it out again
It’s a difficult one! I still have a lot of room around the bust and I think that’s because it’s sized on body measurements but not cup size. I don’t mind the looser fit but honestly if I wanted to re-size it I don’t know how I would do it in the bust cups 🤔 x
Love the dress Sally! Good job with the invisible zipper 🥳 it’s always such a nervous moment isn’t it? 🤭 Thanks for your lovely words about Better Fit Academy! Of course I always recommend making some kind of toile but I’m not judging you for cutting straight into your fabric in this video, sometimes we just gotta do what we gotta do! 🤣 I think the dress turned out so good 🥰 /Josefine
I always cut straight into my fabric. And, 4years into my sewing journey I have only a couple projects that went to the bin. I find it easier to fit as you sew. Many times I sew on the longest stitch lengh and then fit the piece on the body.
I have been super curious about that pattern as well. Thank you for the walk-through and your candid humor. Really well done, it's so darling ❤️
I'm glad it was helpful :) xx
The chocolate colour of your shirt and the orange in the dress give your face a nice glow. Keep using colourful fabric.
Thank you! I do love brown and oranges x
Love the dress Sally. Great fabric choice for that pattern. Interesting how there was so much ease at the waist too.
Thanks for another great vlog.
I know - very strange! I’ve since thought that the bust is probably so roomy because it’s not sized on cup - only chest size 🤔 xx
Beautiful dress you always sew so beautifully love watching your tutorials. Your care and attentions to detail is so what I like to see.
Ah thank you so much I’m really pleased to hear that xx

Thank you for that tip. Would you do it with a normal zipper? I usually do that with invisible but haven’t tried with a regular zip 😊
@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress yes definitely with an invisible zipper but with an ordinary one as well, on both dresses and skirts.
Love the dress, it looks fabulous ❣
Thanks so much xx
Mid brown top really suits you :) as well as all the light pinks...
Ah thank you xx
Have you ever thought of using the double sided quilting tape to hold zip in place it is a game changer dress looks lovely❤
Yes I heard that tip the other day actually but I hadn't thought of it before - thank you for reminding me! xx
Wondertape. I was sceptical. I used it to sew a long zip into a Babygro recently and the tape held the zip really firmly@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress
Very pretty dress xx
Thank you x
Beautiful dress Sally you really suit the colours.x
Thank you so much xx
Beautifully made, Sally, as you always do!
Thank you 💕💕
Looks lovely on you 😊
Thanks so much xx
Loving the dress! Good job there!
Thanks so much xx

Ah thank you! I must be better at making toiles. I’ll be learning more about doing them through the course 😉 xx
Well done Sally ! I voted for that dress in a previous video and I think it looks great on you. I will give it a go now I've seen yours.😍
Thank you! Enjoy sewing it up xx
The dress is so lovely Sally and really suits you. Love the style and fabric
Thank you xx
Wonderful job on this dress! I think I might make this next.
It’s really pretty! Enjoy if you make it xx
Très sympa merci ❤
Intrigued by your tips for inserting sleeves, I would love to see a demonstration. No idea how difficult that would be to film 😅
I need to film some short tips videos I think xx
Adorable dress!!! Just your style.
Thanks so much xx
It’s fine as it is the more relaxed fit is cosy but stylish
Thank you x

I would rather do that too x
Hi Sally that looks good on you definitely suits you. Sally where do you buy your tracing paper roll? Thanks for sharing. Susan 🌺🌸
Thank you!! It’s from Amazon 😊 x
Beautiful and the fabric suits you 😅
Thank you so much xx
Fab vlog Sally, dress is lovely. Can I ask where you get your roll of tracing paper please? x
Thank you! I believe it was just from Amazon I’ve had it for so long now it just keeps going 😊 xx
Really lovely dress! A question….how do you level the hem after hanging the dress?
I share a little bit more detail about how I do it in this video here th-cam.com/video/BkTCrGgKfAc/w-d-xo.html I hope that helps x
@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress Thanks. Will have a look now.
Hi Sally, can you share the paper you use to trace your pattern pieces, please? Thanks!
It should be linked in the description now :) xx
I’m sure this has been asked and answered before so I’m sorry if I missed it! But what do you use as your pattern tracing paper? Thanks!
I have had it for ages I think it was from Amazon 😊 xx
xXX👍👍👍
