I've been making paper pleats like this since I was a kid. I'm a visual artist, and have been toying with sculptures using some of the same geometric patterns I've seen you use. It blows my mind to find out that there is a purpose for these kinds of things, as I usually just pleat my bus tickets or a piece of paper while watching TV. What blows my mind even more is that I've been wanting to find a way to put these patterns on fabric for friends who work in the fashion industry, but I didn't realize that you can steam them and maintain the shape. I'm stunned. Beautiful work. I might try a DIY version of this on my own... Though that seems like a challenge on it's own.
Please give more details on the steaming. You said 30 min in the steamer? And then 30 min to cool down. Does the mold get a bit wet/damp? Does it need drying time? Is the steamer like an autoclave?
He commented on one video that it's 200gsm kraft paper. I think I read somewhere too that thicker papers make the creases/pleats more pronounced. So personally, I think I'm going to buy 240gsm kraft paper. Hope that helps.
So so helped me Your video thanks a loooooot , 💖💖💖💖 Can you please tell me where can I find the "paper" you are using for pleating. ?? Is that ready selling somewhere ? Or maybe online. 😓
I am from India doing research on this topic and would appreciate if you could suggest any books or papers on this topic especially the different folds and techniques

This causes the fabric inside the mould to move. WE can actually do this with the basic straight knife and accordion pleats but struggle with the fancy pleating.
What a amazing and time consuming process. Thank you for sharing your techniques. You make it look a lot easier than it actually is I'm sure

The challenge is being able to squash the two pieces of car and the fabric together to get them tight enough before steaming. Good luck with it.

Здравствуйте! А как устроен паровой шкаф и какую бумагу вы используете для выкроек? Спасибо!
Why not suspend the bundle from higher in the steamer, so the extra fabric falls into folds, instead of free-form, or cut it off?

We actually now tie them to poles so they hang freely down. This client didn't want the bottow vut off.
can i know how much the price for the pleating mold?
We don't sell them but if you email shady.sondos@gmail.com he sells these patterns from Egypt.
