The player model's face in particular lol The multiplayer is okay except for collisions where either you get stuck inside someone else or you go through them
As someone who has played both games, Rigs of rods is your go-to-choice if you can't run Beam. I only play ROR just because of school buses. Good video!
BeamNG technically works on Linux because of the introduction of the Vulkan renderer API, although it is experimental and not really ready to use. Hopefully it will be better in the next few updates

i remember downloading and playing *RIGS OF RODS* On a WINDOWS 7, After an hour of playing it turned off and the laptop froze had to restart it and it never worked again :(
I played both of them 500+ hours. BeamNG multi is leaps and bounds better, even if it is a mod. Very easily moddable game, its kinda the point. Rigs and rods had amazing ffb at the time. When beamNG came out using a wheel felt very, very numb. Today eas just drifting in beamNG its come a long way
Well beamng is made by the same developers of rigs of rods so they will add it. And also beamng is work in progress so as expected details are missing.
0:25 beamng can also be played on linux, not natively, through steam proton but it can nonetheless, plus now beamng has vulkan, works on windows and linux and may give more performance but has issues (namely on acer nitro 5 ryzen 2500u,rx560x,it crashes on wcusa)
BeamNG is also available on Linux with the vulkan API launcher, a friend of mine uses Linux and is able to play without a single problem the same way I do on Windows, it's also pretty stable
The cool thing about Rigs of Rods is that its free because you need to pay Beamng Drive and the crash physics are just the same as Beamng Drive. But the graphics are not that good compared to Beamng but its preety good if you want to play the game for crashes and roleplays and there are more maps and cars and Rigs of Rods only takes 2 gb and Beamng Drive takes like 20 gb.
1.yeah but ror is not worth $25 like beamng is. With how much work and dedication beam staff does, they deserve so much more than $25. 2. good point 3. player model isnt really needed, since in accidents it would either have to stick out or be bloody and gory and stuff. 4. fair point 5. good point, but scratching would need to be pre-rendered, and beamng is entirely soft-body, so scratching wouldnt be easy.
I understand the point of view but,... only saw one valid point, imo, and it's 5. And even that could be better in the "new" BeamNG.Drive. It could be a good addition, but I think they're just focusing on other stuff, engine-wise, and a little bit of content on the side, at least for the moment.
For number 2, beaming actually works with wine I think. So you’d have 3 as I’m watching now that are better due to you can walk now and works with wine. Pls update
Wine is a Windows translator, so it doens't make it a linux native aplication, however ror you have an native linux application, that runs natively in Windows without the need for wine not proton.
I didnt know there was a game before beamng drive but sincerely beamng is better for years lights i mean, i was watching some videos of this game and is like, good to be free but i prefer to buy beamng, i also bought it (in 2021) and i am realy happy with it
2:13 sadly those paint scratch effects aren’t real-time, but simply a pre-made “scratched” skin which replaces the “clean” skin in areas that have over a certain amount of deformation. Similar to the system BeamNG uses for lights/windows glass breaking. So while it looks nice at first sight, the scratches will be exactly the same each time. That means it’ll look rather weird if you e.g. get into a rollover crash sideways, and then see paint scratches on the roof going in the lengthwise direction.
Um I was wondering what you meant beam doesnt have player models??? Um its literally built off player models....... it has its own sub-genre called Automations where in hte litteral sense you are producing like 100% player models and concepts and blender isn't needed ???? you lost me there
With Rigs Of Rods, making content is generally easier. Plus when the devs do a major update, it doesn’t completely ratfuck every mod for the game like Beam does. Just look at what it takes to make accurate monster trucks in Rigs, vs how the monster truck kids are left with CRD Replicustoms because making new vehicles can literally break beam.
updates fuck up most mods, however automation mods just get worse looking (pbr update) and the satsuma 210 somehow still works flawlessly.even tho it wasnt updated since 2018,its starting to show its age, since the doors arent openable and no pbr
2 is wrong:beamng has *binlinux* which runs on linux, steam only says its for windows because bin and binlinux are installed in one. 3 is wrong:beamng has a unicycle sussposed to act like a player (ik its a snowman or a bunch of polygons, but you never said it needs to be a human)
