back in 2010 this game was one of my favorite games of all time. Never got tired of smashing cars to the walls, driving boats and flying planes and all kinds of a things. This game is a real deal, nearly as good as BeamNG. Only RoR has higher selection and community than Beam but Beam has more modern content, graphics and stuff. Can't rly explain much how they are different from eachother. Let's just say RoR is BeamNG 1.0 and BeamNG is 2.0. You got the point.

A lot of the high tier mod makers from rigs of rods are still making mods today in BeamNG. Gavril was huge in RoR, and made some of the best cars back then too
The people who made rigs of rods actually made beamg drive to
well, Pricorde and Tdev are the guys primarily responsible for both game engines, and gabester, the current lead beamng vehicle artist, made all of the old gavril mods, LJFhutch, the lead map artist for beamng, also made some pretty neat map mods back in the day!

I haven't played RoR for a long time now. I used to play it all the time and I thought that was the best before BeamNG came out.
Notes for multiplayer:
- Cars do not collide with each other, however you do see the damage of other vehicles
- Most popular maps for servers are Neo and Community.
- You can configure your username on the configuration options application before playing
- There is a chat. Easy interaction with fans/other people.
- Anything over 2,000 beams tends to lag the servers a bit. Try refraining from using any vehicle made with more than 2,000 beams.
*-You and Camodo must have the same mods installed, otherwise one of you will not see the other's vehicle*

ummmm i agree its fun and i have it because my pc cant run beamng because it dose not have a gtx 550
A few things.
One: Rigs of Rods is completely free! Yay.
Two: Rigs of Rods multiplayer has one downside, you can't crash into other players.You used to be able to, but then it got too FPS heavy. (Apparently)
Three: Rigs of Rods is not all about vehicle destruction. The community tends to hate hearing people nag about deformation. It's about vehicle simulation, as well as deformation as a side thing.
Four: Not all vehicles have collisions, some may just go through each other.
Five: Rigs of Rods is very easy to run on low graphics. Our toaste- erm, computer. Can run it pretty well even though it lags out with a LQ Roblox game. ._.
Five: Holy cow Rigs of Rods changed. I'm like only one or two updates behind and it seems totally different. Since when did teleportation become a thing?
Still, much better Physics than all those beamng mobile ripoffs.

I didn't know it had made a comeback, I used to play this all the time years ago. I've still got it installed on my old computer with tons of mods. And I would regularly go to the repository and get mods. And then one day the repository was gone. And the only mods I could find were being SOLD but not shared. So eventually I stopped playing

I hate the controversy between the two Communities. The admins are all absolute pricks but the fact of the matter is most BeamNG players are oblivious to the fact that RoR is what Birthed BeamNG, and yet some people prefer it due to RoR being friendly towards lower end PC's. Both games also have a diversity of models, but if you like trucks and buses Rigs of Rods is known for that better, and if you just want to do drag racing and s$$$ by all means go for BeamNG. 🤷♂️
RoR was revived last year i think. It was completely killed off around 2013 or something... you could download it back then, only through a Forum post someone made on the RoR forums....
Damn, these devs are awesome. They revived this gem of a game. Such great times i've had here. Actually towing cars, proper tires that don't grab vehicles, proper planes....
It's been alive since 2005. It didn't stop support from 2013. It's been active and developed on for ages.
@@zachariah74 Yes it did. I went back to download it (in 2013) after a few years went by without me playing it, and the website was just a forum and the RoR name as a main title for the website. The Repository was dead, and the forum was the only thing alive. This is recently updated gameplay, trust me.

I used to watch a lot of people play Rigs Of Rods back in 2010 and 2011 but lost interest later in 2011. Stumbled across BeamNG Drive in 2018 and I’ll say it’s pretty reminiscent of Rigs Of Rods and I wonder if the same people who created Rigs Of Rods decided to create BeamNG Drive since BeamNG drive since it has a lot more than Rigs Of Rods and is more up to date since BeamNG Drive was created in 2013 I believe. Not the world’s biggest video game person but I really do like games like BeamNG Drive and it’s a good way to pass time when you have nothing to do.
Rigs of Rods is better for competing in Monster Trucks which is why I play that and not Beam.

I played it 10 years ago and all the way until 2014 until system died on my old PC and i enjoyed this game so much and i want to see you play this game and make it a series like BeamNG.drive and i want to see you having fun with it. I had tones of mods and maps and one of them was the map you are driving on. Oh the nostalgia!!
Edit: On that map you open you can see where your car is. There are like greyish cubes that are shaped like a car. But i forgot if you can spawn in the car or not. I think there's a hotkey that allows you to switch between spawned cars like in Farming Simulator. Sorry it's been a loooooong time since i played this gem. :)

Rigs of Rods was good for cinematic crashes. Beamng Drive focused more on deformation and passenger compartment strength. these games must've been made by either true scientists or the institute.

Lol i used to make rigs of rods vids back in the day, funny how people are realizing that beamng was basically an attempt to revive a concept that was built on a platform that was about 10+ years old at the time. If its still around in the future, give it another 10 years before more crazy realistic game engines are invented.

Would like to see more series, and the character is actually called the ror bot, i thought it was weird at first to me as well. The version is the newest 4.8.0 which didnt release that long ago, i loved 4.7.0 but there was more crashing errors.
This is the newer version of this game. I've been played the older version. It was nostalgic but network doesn't work anymore.
Some advice before you play online, the cars dont interact woth each other but you can still see the damage the other has, also you want to have the same cars that camodo/gray have, if someone spawns a car the other doesnt have, that other wont see it.

Rigs of Rods is not related in any way to BeamNG, besides the very basic principle that they base their physics on. In fact, the developers of RoR want to stay as far away from Beam as possible as Tdev was a toxic developer who essentially flushed RoR and it's forum, with over 4000+ zips full of content, down the toilet. His "development" was essentially piling more and more unnecessary code on top of more unnecessary code, which obliterated performance among other things. Ulteq, the most experienced Rigs of Rods developer today, spent months on end, of his own time, carefully unraveling the sea of knots Tdev left in his wake.
Even today, RoR does countless things better that Beam could ever hope to do. It can run multiple vehicles on a single core. It is open source, so the sky is literally the limit in terms of what can be done on it. Trucks are actually not made of jello. Cranes and ropes can be simulated; you can actually secure your loads to trailers. Airplanes function with real airfoils, ships actually work and can sink and be any size. Of course Beam can do things RoR can't do... yet.
At the end of the day, however, one thing is clear: we need to stop comparing two completely different games to each other. Both have entirely different goals, the development strategies are in two different universes, the developers cannot stand each other, the list is endless. At the very, very least, when comparing the two games, people should use the latest build and content for RoR. I see that you have done that, but many many people don't, and it irks the community in a unique way.
Kyle Maddalena Thomas certainly seems to have his fair share of enemies looking at reports from people who have distanced themselves from BeamNG.
As for the games themselves, they are both unpolished soft body sims, and a devent number of BeamNG devs and community members did come from RoR. The next most similar game I know of is Wreckfest, and of those three BeamNG and RoR are a much closer comparison.
And planes work fine in Beam. Boats are acceptable too. As for everything RoR has that Drive doesn't, keep in mind RoR has a nearly decade long head start.

BeamNG Drive HAS MULTIPLAYER. yet BeamNG Drive and Rigs of Rods did parter up for the BeamNG Drive Crash Physics.

BeamNG Drive was made by the devs behind Rigs of Rods with similar ideas put into BeamNG Drive. However, BeamNG Drive is not a sequel it's a seperate project.
