FYI - Huli Huli chicken stand at Koki beach is run by 7 families - each day a different family cooks da food. You never know what da special is for da day. It's da best! Aloha!
These are the kind of videos I love seeing, getting deep within the roots of Maui and far away from all those tourist traps! You just made my upcoming vacation even more exciting to look forward to!
It's Kahanu! Aloha my brother! Many people neglect the community, so it's cool to see you hang and talk with the Hana folk! Such kind people full of Aloha. I lived there for a short 1.5 years and I recognize many of the people in this video. Brings me back!!
3 of my pals and myself did the Road to Hana in 1987- Taking our time with several hikes and swims we finally arrived in Hana at 9:30 pm starving and with no food. Everything was closed except the main dining room at the hotel Hana Maui. we were denied because our casual attire of flip flops shorts and t shirts. Back then several of the stands on The road to Hana were unmanned and had a wood box to pay on the honor system. Great Vlog Mark!!!
Good video - but you missed Tony's Place - down from Hamoa beach on Hana Hwy - Best Hana raised burgers and the freshest fish anywhere. It's amazing! - next time!
I'm from Wyoming and live in Denver. I really enjoyed this video!! Ill be heading out in July for MAUI :) And ill be stopping at all the great places to eat !
Coconut willies?! (May want to add a fix on the screen for that - after your fruit stand visit). Great video - I am in Hawaii often and you share many of my favorites and also places I did not know were there. Great job!!
Awesome video can't thank you enough. Looked overcast wondering around what month you did the drive so I can plan mine around the same time for the cooler weather.
I have been to this hotel 7 times. The lack of AC is not a problem. The rooms are are cooled by the ocean breeze. leave your wall size sliding doors open and the screen closed. The ceiling fans on and you sleep like a baby. Really.
I think it's important that the Hawaiian people insist on tourist getting permits to go to hana because there's too many people going to Hana. The park on the side of the roads make it impossible for the locals to live a normal life
They used to have a dining room on the premises of the hotel when it was travaasa resort. My wife and I would have the banana macadamia pancakes for breakfast. Hey you guys didn’t go to red Sand Beach? Don’t forget Hamoa beach.
In the vlog heard you are saying that you are from Denver CO. I am planning to go to Maui at the end of May and yet am not so sure where to go get a COVID travel test in Denver area. Do you mind giving me any info about traveling from Denver to Maui? By the way I love all the details in this video and am sure will go to places that you mentioned.
Check out my Hawaii travel guide it has all the info. Regarding Denver, go to Walgreens for the test and follow the info in my guide. As covid is an ever changing mark with travel restraints be sure to review the websites I give you in the guide as they may have updated info and procedures. markfelice.com/blog
Did this trip just a couple of weeks ago. GREAT Trip. Really need to stay in Hana and NOT try to make it to and from Hana in one day. Would be a VERY LOOOOOOONG Day! Hyatt Hana is kind or pricey ($500). Next time will try the cabins around Black Sand Beach.
Hi Mark, you made me hangry! You and Amy did a great job with this Hana vlog. I know you're tired - still wondering how you got out of the cave thru that tiny hole 🤭. Going to Maui end of June so this is timely! Mahalo🌺🌸🌼
Honestly, I don't have any reccs for an exclusive vegetarian place, however, you'll find vegetarian options almost everywhere! Maui is all about fresh fruits and vegetables...
im pretty sure those korean wings were from the milk bars korean sticky wings... my boss stole it too opened some book saw it highlighted with marker lol
hiya! i went to maui recently and my friends and i used the shaka guide for directions through hana as u can save the map because there’s not much signal out there. as we traveled, we saw a sign that said “shaka guide app irresponsible”. suddenly i felt terrible for using it! i think it might be because they show local spots, but im not entirely sure. i couldn’t find an explanation on the internet and i never got a chance to ask a local, so i was wondering if anyone had any information on that? because i love and respect the Hawaiian culture and would never want to willingly participate in the exploitation and decimation of their land.
locals and residents of Hawaii are always going to be rather protective of certain local spots. Shaka guide seems to give lots of insight into local spots you wouldn’t come upon on normal travel websites. I can guarantee you that why “shaka guide app irresponsible” was written. Don’t worry about that though, as long as you are being respectful you have the right to be anywhere on Maui…

Been there and done that! Love how you ate ice cream with a fork 😂
Correct me if im wrong but doesn't that "hotel" not have a/c? i was going to book it but that was a dealbreaker for me.
I have been to this hotel 7 times. The lack of AC is not a problem. The rooms are are cooled by the ocean breeze. leave your wall size sliding doors open and the screen closed. The ceiling fans on and you sleep like a baby. Really.
Great and delicious video! The Iou Needle is also really cool on Maui.
Also..The pork sandwich’s from the first stop were super good we had to go back to get another one!

Hi GMA....thank you SO much....I love eating! LOL as you know! I'll be back to Denver in June, look forward to catching up!

Thank you so much, I'm so glad you're going and I think you'll really like some of these places we visited!
THANK YOU FOR SHARING! I WAS WONDERING IF YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATION FOR VEGETARIAN FOOD OR RESTAURANTS IN MAUI OR NEAR WEST MAUI? :)
Honestly, I don't have any reccs for an exclusive vegetarian place, however, you'll find vegetarian options almost everywhere! Maui is all about fresh fruits and vegetables...
@@EuroTrotter Awsome thank you! :)

im pretty sure those korean wings were from the milk bars korean sticky wings... my boss stole it too opened some book saw it highlighted with marker lol
Still in HI! Good for your guys. When are you coming to Boston?
Miss your adventures around Europe! :)
You missed Braddah Hutts Hawaiian BBQ! It's right after the red sand beach. (however they closed early)
65 miles long, 55 one lane bridges and 618 turns. Worth every mile. Stop off at Coconut Glen’s ice cream.
Supreme patty
