@@Christopher._Myea our peices dont fit well at all. i love jones as the 1 but beal isnt a 3 were small on the perimeter & we don't have a dominant inside big which we need.

It’s not that his “prime is behind him,” I think there are definitely still teams he could go to and put up big numbers. It’s that Beal and Booker are too similar, and the Suns will prioritize their young star since he’s the more valuable asset (as well as Booker just being a better player in my opinion). People see teams like the Heatles and KD Warriors and try to replicate their success by throwing stars together but don’t realize it’s the synergy that made them scary. The Warriors had two All-Stars in Draymond and Klay who were already making legendary careers on doing non-glamorous things. KD fit like a glove
This was some refreshing basketball talk that incorporated different perspectives. While having No one was jockey for trying to have the hot viral take. Gonna be watching more.
Good thing they brought up “Positionless basketball”. It doesn’t work for everyone. Some players need to positions and roles to give them structure in how they go about playing the game. If you have a team of 4 guards and 1 big then eventually the big is gonna stop rebounding because he’s all by himself. But you can’t have a team full of bigs because you need an open floor ball-handler for pressure defenses. Positions has expectations of what roles to fulfill, that structure is necessary more often than not.
I said it was never going to work as well. A big 3 has to have someone who’s defensive minded or at least an actual PG. you can’t have a big 3 of all scorers.
Bradley Beal isn't the problem trading cp3 was ,they have three scorers and role players ,but nobody runs the offense it your turn my turn .kd going to suns ruined Devin bookers prime, since the suns came close to back to finals
How they come close to back to back finals? They got lucky AF because every team they faced in the West in 2021 was injured. They had no business being in the finals that year. Then the next year they were blown out of the 2nd round on their home court with that same finals roster. And lets not even talk about Ayton. Y'all stay trying to find a way to trash KD.
@@smoothsavage2870they were the best team in the league the year after the finals. They had 10 more wins than any other team. They steamrolled. They just imploded in the playoffs due to internal issues.
Legit agree with most of this. BUT, it’s also about fit/positions. If they had a good pg, which they do, and a good center (which they are figuring out) it should work. But, it’s hard when they are all scorers and sg’s/sf’s. In my opinion when there is a ‘big 3’ it should be a G, a big and then another great player. I.e. Kyrie/lebron/love or wade/lebron/bosh. Even to some extent Kyrie/harden/Kd (except this is a lesser version currently coz harden could average 7-10 assists a game and they had better defending role players) Beal off the bench don’t really work, he should be a number 2 on a different team 🤷🏼♂️
Melo was so on point about how a coach/staff needs to give a player vision with accepting a role off the bench. To Rudy’s point, if you’re managing your roster the right way, you’re constructing it with pieces you can plug and play in different scenarios, even with a dude who would be the #1 or #2 option elsewhere. I know there are egos involved, but they gotta take a back seat to winning.

The Suns won 49 games in the first year of this Big 3. With no bench and no wing defenders. With Beal missing 20+ games. It works with the right players surrounding them.
Let me dissect the philosophy behind being the 3rd option on a basketball team In my mind the only option is the right play at the right time and usually your best player facilitates that and if it breaks down then you could benefit from having another player on the court that can get a bucket You need the other 3 players to play a specific role to complement the best players on the team and contribute to the offensive scheme which ideally puts each player in a position to succeed Saying so and so is the 3rd option is telling me that your team doesn’t really have an offensive scheme, which means the coaches have failed that player and by extension the team because the players on the court haven’t bought into the scheme and aren’t being put in a position to contribute towards winning basketball The thing that complicates all this is the money these 3rd options are getting and the ego associated with that What does it say about a player you’re an all star on a bad team but irrelevant on a good team?
