Can still remember the smell of the joss sticks and the colour of the paint on the walls of the room I was in when I first heard this nearly 50 years ago
Thank you for reacting to these two wonderful deep cuts from this great, great album. What a band. Unlike any other. The Doors are one of those precious few bands that have a totally unique sound.
@alrivers2297 each to our own. I was talking about having a unique sound, and that The Who appeared with a totally unique sound before the other two. I'm not much of a fan of The Police, although I respect them as musicians. I love The Doors but love The Who even more.
Outside of the debut album and strange days, this is my favorite Doors album. There is no bad tunes on it. Now we're ready for Land Ho! And Ship Of Fools.🤠😎👍👍
The Doors! My 2nd Fav band.. Own every album and have read everything I could find on this band! Great library and Amazing music by three guys and a singer! ❤
The song "Waiting for the sun" was from the sessions for their 3rd album. Also the song "Indian summer" on this album, was from their 1st album sessions in 1966.
The three musicians of The Doors were talented, powerful on their instruments -and they helped with some songwriting, too. Jim M' is who most look to for the greatness of this band, lyrics, voice, and swagger - the other three deserve praise for their music grooves.
GREAT reaction Lee! Morrison Hotel is a superb album, front to back, and Waiting For The Sun is in my top 5 Doors tracks - indeed, those keys of Manzarek (RIP) & drums of Densmore is melodic and heavy! Just glorious! Peace Frog is also a seminal favourite from the first half! The Spy is also a fave. Cheers!
"Queen of the Highway" from this album + "Hyacinth House" from 'LA Woman' would be a nice one-two punch. Two VERY underrated songs that are so uniquely The Doors.
This album is best heard from the opener "Roadhouse Blues" (was always my fave Doors track) to "Maggie McGill". Waiting for the Sun followed by You Make Me Real is a treat.
There was a hotel in downtown LA called the Morrison Hotel, Ray noticed it one day while driving around. The pictures on the album were taken there. (Some without permission). Please consider giving 'Build Me A Woman' and 'Woman Is A Devil' a listen.
My favorite Doors album. As usual, lots of variety of sounds and styles, even just these two songs. Everyone in the band had a unique, distinctive style, and somehow they all mixed together perfectly. The song after 'Waiting For The Sun' is one of my favorites, and people rarely ever mention it - 'You Make Me Real'. A great rocker, and completely different from these two.
I was 16 in 1969. Not surprisingly, the band that changed my perspective the most was, of course, The Beatles. After that was Jimi Hendrix. I was wondering a few years back who was #3. The Doors immediately took that spot!
🌸 this band is very special to me as well..... and I might have missed it God knows I miss a bunch of stuff LOL but I know you would absolutely vibe with the little piece called "The Movie". . it's kind of almost spooky as a foreshadowing , if you will. it's Jim's spoken word , so it's not music but it's very very cool
I had an import American print Lp of Morrison Hotel and the mix is different, it is hard to get the same punch from digital mixes! Waiting For The Sun is my Doors number 1.
🌸 you need to remember when you have supernatural experiences like that, that you were deeply connected to the universe and you will continue to have these things occur on this plane of existence. some of us are just not the average human being and you are one of us .... welcome to The matrix 🤍
🌸 I'm finding that you are getting to be as big of a Doors fan as I am... and it seems like it's for similar reasons. so I'm going to send you one of those little 15 second clips, ( you may have already seen it, idk) but to me it gives the perfect example of what Jim was really like.....th-cam.com/users/shortsA8MTQ1lGPQY?si=4ReiuU_WdqoU5a86
Waiting for the sun ❤❤ one of my favorites ❤
My all time favorite band since i discovered them in '90 or '92 🙂👍
"There are things known, and there are things unknown, and in between are.. the doors."-Jim Morrison. Hello from Serbia 🇷🇸! I love your reaction!❤
"This is the strangest life I've ever known . . . "
What an album. Every track is gold.
🌸 The Spy is so underrated and underappreciated
Entire side one of Absolutely Live to put it in context
Never get tired of opening Doors
Waiting For The Sun has always been my favorite Doors song. It's just perfect
It’s one of new favorites for sure. How could you not love that song??
I agree! I listen to it all the time. The whole album in fact has been on repeat when I’m in the car.
I heard this was a real motel they snuck into to have the picture taken when the clerk went to lunch.
oooh lawd. excellent choices. please tell me Maggie McGill, Crawling King Snake and Been Down So Long are on the list as well :D
Maggie mcgill is sooo good, to me the doors are one of a handfull of bands that all of their albums are great! So rare
Another top shelf timeless tune by one of the greatest
You need to do the opener "Roadhouse Blues" one of the Doors best ass kicking anthems.
Can still remember the smell of the joss sticks and the colour of the paint on the walls of the room I was in when I first heard this nearly 50 years ago
My favorite Doors album.
Nothing but love for The Doors since the 60’s.
Thank you for reacting to these two wonderful deep cuts from this great, great album. What a band. Unlike any other. The Doors are one of those precious few bands that have a totally unique sound.
I agree. I think The Police may be the second most unique sounding band ever
@@alrivers2297 third. The Who first. Then The Doors.
@davescurry69 I love The Who, but like the other two bands even more

@davescurry69 I feel like the Who is a little more straight rock n roll. Where as the Doors and Police are more unique sounding
Outside of the debut album and strange days, this is my favorite Doors album. There is no bad tunes on it. Now we're ready for Land Ho! And Ship Of Fools.🤠😎👍👍
The Doors are my favorite American band and are in my top 5 overall
Cool, always stop to listen to the Doors. ❤😊
The Doors! My 2nd Fav band..

My favourite Doors album. Not a weak track on it.

And waiting for the sun sounds really good blasting through a pair of JBL L100's.🤯🕶️
Had he not died The Doors would have dominated the early to mid 1970’s at least. Very skilled and intelligent musicians!
The three musicians of The Doors were talented, powerful on their instruments -and they helped with some songwriting, too. Jim M' is who most look to for the greatness of this band, lyrics, voice, and swagger - the other three deserve praise for their music grooves.

Classic tunes
"Queen of the Highway" from this album + "Hyacinth House" from 'LA Woman' would be a nice one-two punch. Two VERY underrated songs that are so uniquely The Doors.
Trippy Doors is as good as it gets. The trips we had back in the 70s always had some Doors in them, total awesomeness!
🔥🎵🎹🎤🎸🎶🔥
Morrison Hotel was the first Doors album I ever heard....loved them ever since.
This album is best heard from the opener "Roadhouse Blues" (was always my fave Doors track) to "Maggie McGill". Waiting for the Sun followed by You Make Me Real is a treat.
When I was young, $2.50 Hotel rooms was the price per hour.
Me too! Times sure have changed.
The Doors were on Elecktra Records and their 45s were some of the first 45s in stereo.
Just wait till you hear Not to touch the earth from this album 🔥
Really good pair ... don't remember hearing "The Spy" before .. new Doors? Great!
There was a hotel in downtown LA called the Morrison Hotel, Ray noticed it one day while driving around. The pictures on the album were taken there. (Some without permission). Please consider giving 'Build Me A Woman' and 'Woman Is A Devil' a listen.
Let’s dew drop Inn at the Delirium Lounge
Thanks Lee, haven’t heard these songs for a long time. 😊

1/who do you love 2/celebration of the lizard 3/the wasp 4/ ships w/sails(from their first album after jim died)
If you get the chance, look up Soundgarden doing a cover of Waiting For The Sun. It’s a solid tribute to this great song. 🤘
Either this album or LA Woman are my favorite, THE SPY is my favorite Doors song, THE CARS HISS BY MY WINDOW.
"Waiting For The Sun" is an awesome track & seems to evoke a whiff of joss sticks or maybe some herb.
Like his poems you must listen to American prayer lp

Lee, what music do you personally like? do you listen to rap? just curious. i'm glad you like the Doors!!
Are The Doors opening doors in your mind?

I don't think The Doors had anything to do with the 60s. It's like they just so happened to drop in during the 60s from some other, unknown time.
Do the live medley
Existentialism
