    If you want another "haunting trippy" Doors song, one that takes you on an internal trip like a dark Pink Floyd, check out what is arguably the Doors' signature song: "The End." And if you want a trippy Doors song that goes a little harder while encapsulating so much of what makes the Doors the Doors, check out "Not To Touch The Earth." The song is a section of a larger performance piece called "The Celebration of the Lizard," which is rooted in Jim's poetry, his fascination with shamanism, and is the origin of Jim's infamous nickname, "The Lizard King."
    Another Doors song that goes pretty hard is "Five To One." It has a bit of a revolutionary vibe to it. And if you guys liked that one hard riff in "Waiting For The Sun," then "Wild Child" is another one you'll like because it has that sound running through most of it and the lyrics are, as always with Jim, poetic and mythological sounding in a way you don't get from any other band.

    • @Jessica_Roth
      @Jessica_Roth ปีที่แล้ว

      They won't do "The End", because they don't play longer songs. Same issue with "When the Music's Over", which breaks my heart.

    • @johnplaysgames3120
      @johnplaysgames3120 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Jessica_Roth Yeah, they tend to keep their videos relatively short but they've also done a few longer ones, particularly from Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Yes, etc. I think if they like a band and enough people request a song and/or like the comments that request the song, they'll do it even if it's a little longer. Just need enough likes on these comments to get them to the top of the list since I think J&A sort comments by most popular to find out "what the people want."

    Jim Morrison's grave is in the 110 acre Père-Lachaise Cemetery on the south side of Paris which is also the final resting place of early 19th century Polish composer and piano virtuoso Frédérick Chopin, late 19th century pianist, conductor and comppser Émile Waldteufel, legendary French pop singer Édith Piaf, and several other notable figures in the arts. When Chopin was buried there, they removed his heart and shipped it to the church in Poland where he was baptized, where it sits in an urn. Also located at the cemetary is a monument to the 147 summary executions on May 28, 1871 of Paris Commune soldiers who occupied the city and were captured by the French army in an attempted coup during the Franco-Prussian War. They're buried at the foot of the wall they were lined up against for the firing squad.

    The Doors' last album w/ Jim Morrison was 'L.A. Woman' in 1971, shortly before the singer passed away... it became their biggest-selling album, even if they were told it sounded like 'cocktail jazz'... 🔥🔥

    Whenever the do a poll on greatest guitarist, I have no hesitation in nominating Robbie Krieger. On this you see him play bottleneck guitar but his range is so diverse. Like on Spanish Caravan he plays Flamenco guitar. So under rated, such a worthy nomination for greatest guitarist.

    Hi Jay you can’t judge The Doors & Jim Morrison by only listening to 10 songs. You Will need to listen to When The music is over, Five to one, Spanish Caravan, The Unknown Soldier, I am a Spy and foremost “The End”. Without listening to “The End” will forever remain incomplete. Lastly, to know and to understand the Poet Jim Morrison you SHOULD check the special album- An American Prayer ! Your pilgrimage will be completed.

      "When The Music's Over";
      "Peace Frog";
      The, *entire*, An American Prayer album, by Jim Morrison [which the rest of The Doors (the surviving members) added musical "accoutrements" to, 6-7 years later/after-the-fact). This is, all, Jim Morrison reading poetry and doing spoken word pieces. Powerful. Indelible. Important!]
      ...and, then, you might as well hit: "Five To One";
      "Break On Through";
      "Not To Touch The Earth";
      "My Wild Love";
      "Twentieth Century Fox";
      "My Eyes Have Seen You";
      "End Of The Night";
      "Take It As It Comes";'
      "The WASP (Texas Radio & The Big Beat)"
      "You Make Me Real"'
      "The Spy"/"Queen Of The Highway";
      "Maggie M'Gill";
      "Been Down So Long"
      ...and all of those classics you haven't hit, yet (such as):
      "The End";
      "Hello, I Love You";
      "Horse Latitudes"/"Moonlight Drive";
      "The Soft Parade";
      "L.A. Woman"
      [a personification of los angeles, herself.]

    Dunno if you’ve done Hello I Love you, or Peace Frog yet. Two of my faves by the Doors. The sound of the beginning of peace frog is so ahead of its time, if someone played it for you blind, you would think it is U2.

    I would recommend "L.A. Woman" next for starters. Then "The Changeling", "Crystal Ship", When the Music's Over", "Unknown Soldier" to name a few.

    This one is odd, in that their third album was entitled Waiting For The Sun, but this song didn't appear until their fifth album, Morrison Hotel.
