A very chill and comprehensive review, did a good job showing the flexibility of Rolands mid tier module!

Great video, I’ve just ordered one but changed the cymbals to the newer Roland thin cymbals they have on the VAD707/506/503. The two CY12’s for two CY14-T’s and changed the CY13r to the CY16-RT.

Hey there! I have a 306 myself and just wanted to ask what your opinions are of the newer cymbals in comparison to the original ones provided on this kit?

    I have the TD17 and TD27...
I'm scared to do too much crazy stuff because I don't know how to get things back to normal.
There's a bunch of user kits that are just unusable because I messed the settings up so badly and don't want to reset the module.
I can't wait until they come out with a touch screen or something easier to understand !!!
With the digital: snare, hi hat and ride !!!!!
I hope they are don't abandon those !!!!
    Great video though !!!!!
I wish I could do all of that without destroying presets....lol
    😁👍

Thanks, so nice and inspiring to hear you get inspired by the different sounds of the drumkit! How do you feel about this hi-hat in comparison with the more expensive digital/usb hi-hats that are now available?

Thank you for showing all these, pretty cool.. how do this compare to the yamaha dtx 8 compare.. with the smaller base drum on this model, does it look toyish?

1.) Very good playing! 2.) Any idea what it's like using in a live setting? It's hard to find a lot of info on that. I think the td17 gives you control over kick and bass. I'm wondering if it also works to just go usb out?

I own an older model Roland kit, and have played many others. I love their pad designs and the response that they give you. However, I think the biggest issue with Roland drums is that heavily stylized, over-processed sound of each kit and each instrument on the module that they continue to produce year after year. It'd be great if they could also throw in some more raw, dry instrument samples that the player could then edit themselves from the ground up, just for the sake of variation and options. Won't stop me loving what Roland produce - it's an incredible practice tool - but it's something (an oversight, I guess) that's always niggled at me.

Couldn't agree more. The hardware is incredible, drum sounds nooo.

it's actually an incredible recording tool but not the roland onboard kits, just with a midi cable to your DAW using drum software like Superior Drummer and you got a fully mic'd up kit that sounds like the real deal. record your performance on one midi track, edit and print all your tracks to audio...and there you go

The TD-17 is good module however, this kit w/ td-27 module would be my preferred setup. My strike module would be nice to use with this as well

To Mike:When playing does this feel like an electronic kit or acoustic kit? Or something in between? Thanks.

the strange thing-for me-is when you play the existing kits, a lot of that shit just don't match, some sound awefull, but from the moment you started messing with the tuning, etc, .. i liked that more and the way down tuned bass and snare sounded more like real drums, i don't know who puts together these kits at Roland but shure no drummers...😅

Excellent demo. You actually calibrated the triggering settings. Most demos show what it comes by default which to me has the sensibility too high and makes it sound quite bad.

it's perspective...the closer to the camera the cymbals are the bigger they seem
