I think that an important thing to say is that no matter what, at least it isn't a game that's designed to get your money like Topspin 2k25. Tiebreak will be more suited than Topspin for a casual tennis fan which doesn't want anything too deep and technical, nor too automated and 2k/EA type of greedy. Tiebreak has multiple modes (which top spin doesn't have), no microtransactions tied to career or similar bullshit (which Topspin has), optimized community creations (which Topspin doesn't have), offline career mode that will always function because it is not tied to servers (which Topspin does). Make sure to also highlight these things to a costumer who hasn't decided yet what to pick, because picking TopSpin over Tiebreak is a bad thing, especially knowing that in few years in Topspin you will not even able to access your career
If they want Tiebreak to have "total realism" and "real game patterns" as they have put on the steam page, it is very important that the shots are balanced correctly, there cannot be any possibility that the user can abuse and win without problems. It would be a shame to see " meta" of the game as it happens to TS, more in online mode. As for the service I am very satisfied, it is true that they could adjust it as you say but it feels good that it is so, more considering that the timing is different depending on the toss of the ball of each player. In a recent ticket I basically suggested that if they were going to keep it in the game at least try it as a net approach mechanic rather than being able to use it to move laterally across the court. It makes more sense for that sort of speed boost to be used to track down drop shots or get to net if you want to volley. They did say they would get the team to test it if they had time. I believe the speed from the single use of each trigger is adequate to run across the court laterally and am pretty sure that was the devs originally intended. The other issue is that from EA 4 or 5 each update has added things to the game that dumb down the gameplay possibly to appease the masses of people complaining about certain aspects. In the past, if you held down the incorrect shot prep trigger to hit a forehand or backhand, the ball would just glide right past you as it should. Somewhere along the line they changed the function and even if you are holding the incorrect trigger for say a forehand when the ball is going to you backhand, the computer will auto assist you and still hit the ball from the backhand side. You didn't really mention it, but myself being a fan of the challenge of Tennis Elbow, I have huge issues with the new running forehand they added in EA7. Sometimes it looks absolutely ridiculous. Its a very unrealistic shot at the best of times. Auto locks you to balls that are multiple feet away and zooms you to the ball so you can hit a forehand and keep rallies going. It makes it very difficult to impossible to properly wrong foot another player now, as if it wasn't bad enough with the scramble mechanic now with the added running forehand it really is like an arcade game. The scramble is guilty of this too, but the running forehand also takes away all player inertia, especially noticeable when you are going in the wrong direction, have clearly been wrong footed and the running forehand will allow you to suddenly stop on a dime turn in the other direction and literally pull you half way across the court in some cases. Its a classic example of having way too much intrusive computer assistance. If you play poorly or your opponent just plays better, then you should get rightly punished in the rallies. There shouldn't be a "cheat" shot that allows for all players to stay competitive in a rally. Or else what is the point in ever putting the time in to get better than others? The game should be based on skill. I also agree that it will absolutely not be ready for release. Even things as simple the ball and feet marks feature/shader being removed from EA7 on clay courts seems to have them stumped. The game needed to be delayed. I thought the whole point of this game was that they were doing things differently to how others like Top Spin have done it and keeping computer assistance down to an absolute minimum so that players have a lot more manual control over their movement and shot selection. With the game closer to release and launching on consoles they seem to be changing direction. I have put a few vids on my TH-cam channel trying to highlight some issues. @@machetegaming The devs kind of indicated to me that they were only going to be in a place to really know which direction to take the game and which things to adjust once they put it in the hands of all of the console players. Problem with that is that I agree with you. Everyone that has purchased the game in early access has done so because they are fans of tennis and wanted an opportunity to help guide the developers to make the best game they could make. We hang on and make videos, make forum posts and submit tickets for bugs or gameplay suggestions in the hope the game will come good eventually. Console players buying the full release and not enjoying the game for any number of the reasons many people have stated will most likely not hang around for months on end submitting feedback to the devs on how to make the game better. That's even if the devs do what they say and continue to update it after release. They will most likely attempt a refund if they can get one. I guess that would be one type of feedback for the devs but won't help very much becuase the chances of those players re-buying at a later date would be extremely low unless it comes to GamePass or PS Plus.
Big Ant Studios and Nacon are behind a tennis videogame... The combination indicates a mus't-have-videogame no matter the day of the year, the promises, and the price. You know that there will be lousy support and unpolished game. My trust ended after the bad support of TWT2, along with AO, AO2, and TWT.
Big Ant Studios are probably the worst sport game developers right now. I hate their games, beacuse they’re creating a game about really interesting sport and ruins it
In career mode, do the best players reach the latter rounds? In AO tennis, it was always random players getting to the semi and finals of major tournaments
I haven't played Career Mode much since EA5, so I can't confirm for sure how it is now. However, from what I remember, top players did reach the later stages of tournaments earlier. Keep in mind that Career Mode during early access was limited to just one season, so there wasn't enough time for player development or power shifts. I'll check career more thoroughly for full game release review.
@@machetegaming ive got TE4 and its freaking amazing. Im realy feeling that im on ATP tour and I move my difficulty at the same time as i learn more about positioning and timing. What TEM2 integration gives more to TE4 career? Can u explain? :) Thx for answer :)
I plan to make a video soon on that. Generally by buying Tennis Elbow Manager 2 you can integrate it into your Tennis Elbow 4 career. You basically turn the game into a tennis club manager, with Tennis Elbow 4 gameplay! It can be a bit too detailed for some tho as you have to train your players week by week (with a possibility to save training programs). It's the deepest career I have seen in a video game. So give it a shot if you like TE4 career already!
Yep, you got it right! You have to then deal with finances, coaching staff, planning training and participation in tournaments, etc. It's super deep. AFAIK you have to start new career with new player when you integrate TEM2.
Please try Hard difficulty as other players have said they win easy on Expert but can lose on Hard so the difficulties may be messed up,can you do a video on Hard difficulty and confirm this.
Thanks for info, Rob. I just tried Hard difficulty. It's a tiny bit harder maybe? But not that different. I won't be making video about it as I am done with making content for Tiebreak until something new happens, so here's my feedback on "Hard" after going 6-0 against it using slices, dropshots, lobs and all that jazz. - On Hard CPU won 10 points instead of 6 on Expert. That could be seen as a bit of an improvement, but also could be just me playing a bit worse in this match than before? Hard to say. - CPU still cannot return half of serve methods: flat down the "T" line is an automatic ace. Wide slice is ace most of the time. Wide kick is ace. For perspective I had 8 aces in 3 serving games trying different types of serves. - CPU on Hard holds the rally maybe a little bit better from the baseline? I still won quite easily baseline exchanges, so not substantial difference for me - CPU on Hard struggles to deal with any ball shorter than baseline: short/mid slice, dropshots or lobs set me up for a winner or force CPU to hit the net/make unforced errors Imo either the difference is marginal in favor of "Hard" difficulty or just non-existent.
@@machetegaming I trust your rundown of the hard difficulty and that is just me watching all these videos. The safest bet is enough players keep bringing up all the faults in the game and when full release comes see what the developers fix and improve as i am an offline player only and don't want to waste my money when i am happy with the matches and CPU difficulty in AO2
Very good review as always. I've totally lost trust on this game. In my opinion developers just haven't good knowledge about tennis nor skills for making a good tennis game. There are basic unresolved flaws which remain from the start of EA1 and therefore cannot be solved by release date. So, I stay with Full Ace Tennis.
The main selling point of this game is to recreate the entire ATP and WTA tour and no other game does that, so if you don’t care about the roster and the tournaments then may be you should stick to TSpin or TElbow. No point in whining because you know the gameplay will improve with patches.
If you don't care about gameplay being broken in a game, then why do you come to watch video focusin on... gameplay? It doesn't make sense. P.S. A big reason why we get bad games is because people accept, buy and defend bad games.
I don't have that many hours in AO2 but imo Tiebreak is worse gameplay wise. There's no challenge offline and that's a deal breaker for me. Being able to go 6-0 with 43 rated player against Alcaraz on the highest difficulty is a bad joke 😬
I guess you didn't watch my other videos since you ask this type of question. I criticized heavily Topspin 2k25 and praised Tiebreak before for its potential.
Currently, its Tennis Elbow 4 followed closely by Full Ace Tennis Simulator. Those are the games with great tennis gameplay despite low production budget. If you're looking for high polygon and more arcade-ish tennis game, then I don't have favorite here, now. I still have hope Tiebreak could become that. It just isn't right now.
I actually love the gameplay.. and im actually loving the game feeling... but i can see ur points and ur right! but the game actually feels pretty good..
probablemente estas jugando con ambos gatillos presionados todo el tiempo para poder llegar a todos lados. Deben eliminar eso, sin presionar ambos gatillos todo el tiempo no es tan facil
No no, That's a custom made character made by the community members. Big Ant Studios games have custom players and stadiums in their games for players to create what they cannot due to licensing limitations. Official Novak scan is not in the game, yet.
And yet Novak is currently not available in the game. Instead of cursing others and calling me a liar, how about you check your info before commenting?
This is very upsetting news. Can you give us a sense of the gameplay of this vs. AO2 vs. Topspin2k25? You very well explained the problems w/TB but just wondering how you'd relate it to these other recent releases? Does it seem like they are trying to make something centered around online PvP balancing & forgetting single player to a degree? Thank you for putting your time into the absurdly underserved (pun intended) tennis gaming community.
I don't have many hours in AO2, but it seems to offer much more challenge than Tiebreak currently does? This seems to be also the feedback from people with a lot more hours in AO2 than I have. Topspin 2k25 and Tiebreak both have serious gameplay issues. I totally dislike the approach to tennis in Topspin. The game lacks nuance big time which I explain in details in my TS2k25 review. Shot balance is lacking in both games. There are no court physics in either title. Movement looks better but feels bad in TS, as well. But as much as it pains me to say, at least TS has somewhat functional CPU in the game (as in, it's not broken). I didn't enjoy rallies in TS5 but at least I had to put effort to win them there lol What are developers of Tiebreak going for? That's a great question, for which I have no good answer. Based on their steam notes focus - on roster perhaps? I cannot comment on online aspect of Tiebreak in EA7. I haven't played online in EA7, cuz I have constant error message since the patch release when I am trying to connect to matchmaking (for others it seems to work just fine tho). Some say online is fun, but then the same people tell me issues I listed in this video are not a problem and the game is ready for release, so I have hard time believing them about online. Anyway, comparing these games in terms of gameplay is like comparing Fiat, Daewoo and Dacia trying to figure out which car offers the best driving experience. If you want really good gameplay and actual tennis simulation, try Tennis Elbow 4 & Full Ace Simulator (in case you haven't already).
@@machetegaming Actually haven't tried either but for different reasons. I don't have much of anything to call a PC ATM. And I seriously considered TE4 but I think AO or AO2 came out around then & I was/am still fairly pleased with AO2 (relatively) so it didn't make sense to get another tennis game. Darn I really wish you had more time in AO bc it makes even LESS sense that Big Ant made a decent tennis game years ago, why are they going backwards?
I feel screwed-over by TopSpin 2K25. They did nothing to make the game look and feel like it was developed for PS5. I’ve already deleted it and I’m looking forward to Tie Break. Graphical improvement is equal to gameplay, not less important. Stop with the gameplay is what matters most argument. It’s faux and nostalgic to suggest that we should not expect more - not more of the same - from proven titles like TopSpin.
Hang on a sec, tennis should be primarily about gameplay smoothness and realism. Topspin 4 on the ps3 had the best game mechanics, and the graphics on that game weren't anything special. So gameplay comes first!
I love your videos bro keeping doing you . But I’ve watched 7-10 different TH-camrs and all them have said it’s the best tennis game to date . Every game needs work . They’ll patch it every month or so . But the graphics , realism looks the closet thing to perfect will get with a. Tennis game
Maybe they will fix the game, maybe they won't. We don't really know that for a fact, do we? I can only review what we currently have and see. If they patch the game and fix the issues I mentioned in the video, I will be the first one to praise Tiebreak and promote it in future videos 🙂
Called it a long tine ago. It will ever be as good as they say. Its just to make you buy then stop the project. Just look at topspin 5, almost no improvements since launch
I'm a simple tennis fan, I'm happy when machete uploads 😉 I pre-ordered the game only to support them, but I'm sad. You did well to warn us, I always left likes in all videos. But I like the community creations formula, which is lacking on many other games, and also graphic, immersion and roster wise, I think they're the best in the market. I will be glad if the game is at least addicting even if it is not too perfect. It might still be better than Tennis world tour 2
Did you enjoy TWT2? I heard bad things about it and from the match I played (only 1 lol) it felt way worse than AO2. Thanks for the kind words and supporting the channel! I appreciate that 🙂
@@machetegaming Ooh like.. at all. It's a bad experience which I tried to make better by adjusting it and trying to adapt (which is never a good sign). So if tiebreak will be better than that, at least I will be ok (but probably not happy). Anyway support is deserved 🎉
Haven't launched the full game yet but its downfall is imminent. Worst tennis game I ever played. Cannot even modify your attributes. The overall atmosphere is so lonely unlike TS5.
I already hate this game. The sound cues seem off and what is up with the ghost ball boys and girls lol I get balls tossed at me from absolutely out of thin air and when it pans over there's nobody there. I would prefer if they just remastered Grand Slam 2
The game is produced by big ant. They produced Ao1, Ao2 and Tennis world tour 2 and they failed every time. They will fail this time too because they are not capable. I just wonder why they persist. Poor those professional players who find themselves in this game. Play Topspin 2k25, that's tennis. If only it had the Tiebreak roster...
What is going on with the serving in this game it is a mess!!!!!!!!the update made it worse !!!!! I wish these companies tried to recycle what worked in previous tennis games Twt2 did that by trying to make it similar to topspin4 so so I figured maybe this game would go in that direction ...I was a big fan of smash court tennis 2 if this game played like that they would have something but unfortunately it doesn't but I do like the signature strokes serves and grunts ...but without the gameplay it will fail and it's a shame cause the players look good.
half a year for a good tennis game thats good ill buy on release tell me one game that has come out redy in the last few years its sad but thats the game industry get used to it. also topspin 2k25 is shit thats that overpriced with real shit system to get into the slams and f all players graphics are pretty bad gameplay is not that good so say what u want
but you choose the worst in this game, that is to say Alcaraz lol, the most cheating! Otherwise I agree with your opinion on the general state of the game
Btw topspin if it weren’t for the roster, would be the complete, perfect tennis game. The gameplay in tiebreak is ass, graphics are horrendous. Give topspin the roster in tiebreak and im hooked on topspin for 10 hrs of my day
I get that you like Topspin a lot. I bet we all have some games that are generally low-quality products but that we like anyway. But claiming that it's a 'perfect tennis game' if not for the roster? Come on now. Even if you like the gameplay so much (I find it super basic and arcade-ish), the game has plenty of other issues.
The game look fine to my eyes, i am buying the console version so i cannot compare .The game is good enough and because you find the game easy does not make the game bad.Tennis Elbow 4 is a waste of time and i would rather play Tiebreak than Tennis Elbow a game that has poor animation and it not available on console.
Gameplay wise Tennis Elbow is actually closer to the feel of real tennis than Tiebreak at the moment. Tiebreak had a good chance when it was in Early Access 5. Just slight improvements needed here and there but a good base. Its actually gone backwards in some respects in the last two updates. Tennis Elbow 4 is actually available on consoles.
Tennis is a strategy game. You make the game fun by being creative and winning. Slice then Lob, things like that. This is not Borderlands where you pick up a legendry and shoot everyone with the same gun because it is the best. Don't be like the douchebags online, who spam aces and lose at rallies. In fact, go online, prove your point and make another video.
Have you actually tried using slice and lob in Tiebreak before commenting? Really, go in the game and try different shots. I focused on flat shot because its the most obvious one, but the other shots are not much better: - Short/mid slice results in CPU hitting the net or making unforced error - Lob in Tiebreak makes CPU miss most of the time since it cannot play inside the court - I'll suggest you another one - try dropshot and see what happens with the CPU Tennis is indeed a strategy game. A strategy game to be fun requires balance to its components, else its not a compelling challenge. This balance is completely lacking right now in TB. If I am forced to skip like half of potential tactics and shot types in the game so that I can have some immitation of challenge, then the game fails to present good gameplay. Wouldn't you agree?
All my concerns turned out to be unfortunately realistic. The full release gameplay is just as bad as it was in EA7.
Nothing mentioned in this video was really fixed:
- Topspin was buffed replacing flat shot as OP shot. Flat shot was nerfed to the ground.
- CPU still cannot play tennis
- Serving still has bugs (though its a bit harder to hit an ace now)
- Scrambling is still in the game (with a bit more inertia added tho)

LATENCY ! développer are dumb or what ? !if you can explain to the developers what i would to say ! thanks you too much bro... sorry for my bad english, but i'm very angry after that EA7
I hate their games, beacuse they’re creating a game about really interesting sport and ruins it
I like AO Tennis 1-2 a lot. TWT2 though is bad for me. TWT1 was made by different studio.
I'm loving Topspin 2k2, it's the best tennis game out there atm.
Topspin is dead lol that game been done

Its no point to play this tennis games when Tennis Elbow is available. Its for me the best simualtion of a tennis and a career.
Have you got TE4 integrated with TEM2 for a career? It's pretty lit!
@@machetegaming so I can integrate my solo carrer in TE4 with TEM but still can „play” it by myself but get more options? Do I get it? ;P
Yep, you got it right!
You have to then deal with finances, coaching staff, planning training and participation in tournaments, etc. It's super deep.
AFAIK you have to start new career with new player when you integrate TEM2.
hope they get topspin4 level gameplay.
I still won quite easily baseline exchanges, so not substantial difference for me
- CPU on Hard struggles to deal with any ball shorter than baseline: short/mid slice, dropshots or lobs set me up for a winner or force CPU to hit the net/make unforced errors
Imo either the difference is marginal in favor of "Hard" difficulty or just non-existent.
This game needs serious patching.
You can see that ball is not realistic, fly's like a baloon
Very good review as always. I've totally lost trust on this game. In my opinion developers just haven't good knowledge about tennis nor skills for making a good tennis game. There are basic unresolved flaws which remain from the start of EA1 and therefore cannot be solved by release date.
So, I stay with Full Ace Tennis.
I like tiebreak imo it is good, full ace is great
The main selling point of this game is to recreate the entire ATP and WTA tour and no other game does that, so if you don’t care about the roster and the tournaments then may be you should stick to TSpin or TElbow. No point in whining because you know the gameplay will improve with patches.
Thank you!
All this whining, from this game and TSTK25. I’m just happy we’ve got new tennis games.
If you don't care about gameplay being broken in a game, then why do you come to watch video focusin on... gameplay? It doesn't make sense.
P.S. A big reason why we get bad games is because people accept, buy and defend bad games.
@@machetegaming simple, make your own game and stop whining 🤷🏾♂️
Would you say is worse than Ao Tennis? Or similar?
I don't have that many hours in AO2 but imo Tiebreak is worse gameplay wise. There's no challenge offline and that's a deal breaker for me. Being able to go 6-0 with 43 rated player against Alcaraz on the highest difficulty is a bad joke 😬
Aah damn... Thank you for the info🙏🏽 yeah it's pretty ridiculous
@@machetegaming Are you paid by 2K ? ^^'

I criticized heavily Topspin 2k25 and praised Tiebreak before for its potential.
@@machetegaming Yep ! sorry that's was a bad joke -_- and READ my OTHERS comments please (in this video)
What is your favorite tennis game, which one do you recommend.
How many hours have you put in the game before this video was created?
In this update alone? 8+ hours.
At least as i see in gameplay videos in Tiebreak bots can make unforced errors which are unexisting in AO 2 (i mean no outs, not net shots)
Oh, you can count on those in spades 😅
probablemente estas jugando con ambos gatillos presionados todo el tiempo para poder llegar a todos lados. Deben eliminar eso, sin presionar ambos gatillos todo el tiempo no es tan facil
Where can i get the game?
4:31 theres Djokovic in the game??? Can you play with him for a video please?
No no, That's a custom made character made by the community members. Big Ant Studios games have custom players and stadiums in their games for players to create what they cannot due to licensing limitations.
Official Novak scan is not in the game, yet.

The ball looks like it's floating in 2d when it goes over the net, very weird
I didn't enjoy rallies in TS5 but at least I had to put effort to win them there lol
What are developers of Tiebreak going for?
Which console are you on?
Tennis Elbow 4 is also on Xbox and should come out on Playstation in some time too!
Novak look like Leisure Suit Larry... 😂 This is terrible... This can pass like a game but in 2010... TODAY NOT...
I'm a simple tennis fan, I'm happy when machete uploads 😉
I pre-ordered the game only to support them, but I'm sad.

Ooh like.. at all. It's a bad experience which I tried to make better by adjusting it and trying to adapt (which is never a good sign). So if tiebreak will be better than that, at least I will be ok (but probably not happy).
Anyway support is deserved 🎉
Fala galera bom dia que nota vocês dariam a esse jogo de 0 a 10?
Haven't launched the full game yet but its downfall is imminent. Worst tennis game I ever played. Cannot even modify your attributes. The overall atmosphere is so lonely unlike TS5.
Its a million times better than TS, so im definitely buying it (i would probably wait and buy TE4 but its only coming in October like wtf?)
I already hate this game. The sound cues seem off and what is up with the ghost ball boys and girls lol I get balls tossed at me from absolutely out of thin air and when it pans over there's nobody there. I would prefer if they just remastered Grand Slam 2
Why don't the idiots who make these tennis games just model it on Top Spin 4 from the ps3?!
Lmao, Top 2k25 fucking sucks. "that's tennis" fuck no.

I focused on flat shot because its the most obvious one, but the other shots are not much better:
- Short/mid slice results in CPU hitting the net or making unforced error
- Lob in Tiebreak makes CPU miss most of the time since it cannot play inside the court
- I'll suggest you another one - try dropshot and see what happens with the CPU
Tennis is indeed a strategy game.
You talk shit…. Topspin is not even yet ready 😂😂😂😂
Animations terrible
