Thanks for the kind words mate, so glad you like the artwork! Had a great time putting this one together and 88 Films did a cracking job with the metallics.
I remember seeing jet li in london when they had the premier of black mask , he turned up in the fist of legend costume too , there is a video of it on youtube
Ill admit it's better than the last two blu-ray releases. I wished Mike Leeder could'ev done the audio commentary since not only he visited the set during 1994 but he had alot of information on the film too. Frank's commentary was fun to listen though. Could they'ev put more special features? yes, not the biggest fan of Brent Ratner but the rest of the features i didn't mind but i wished 88 contacted you to talk about Fist of Legend.
That would have been great yes since he had so much insight! And thanks for thinking of me, I'd love to have done something for them but hey... Maybe someday! Thanks for watching :)
I always think it depends what player and TV your watching it through. The 4K does have the upper hand of course, but the same restoration is on the Blu-ray and looks amazing. Honestly, to the untrained eye there's not a huge difference at all...
The 4K was fantastic, but that same restoration is carried onto the Blu which is were all the extras are including the commentary. You'll be paying double for the art and 4K disc :S
This is one of Jet Li's best movies. I'm hoping they give the same treatment to fearless (the full uncut version) Also, romeo must die would be appreciated too.
Well, that would be an issues interms upon the rights issues with Fearless. You'll have to discuss that with Warners upon the Romeo Must Die issue, II doubt Warners will even bother with Romeo Must Die once it reaches its 25th anniversary next year.
Thanks for sharing this video,is it difficult to come across Hong Kong Legends DVDs I think I’ve only 6 or 7 I seen Bruce Lee films back in the early 1970’s I travelled as far as Comber and Newtownards to see the Kung Fu films.
Slipcover sure look awesome. Is the HK cut, last the same as the original cantonese cut? The original cut is longer, unrated and my favorite one but most countries didn't get that cut because many little things are missing.
@@invincibleasiaofficial Yep, the Taiwanese extended version is the best version and sadly all others like Hong Kong, USA, UK, Germany, France & Spain use the theatrical cut version with accelerated fights (±1.3 time if I remember correctly), making them looking exaggerated, almost funny and cartoonish, which is a real shame. I didn't know how to rip movies at the time I saw the Taiwanese extended version or else I would had done it. Instead I ended up importing the HK version in DVD and after buying the Dragon Dynasty BD, which aren't as good as the Taiwanese extended version. I was really deceive. Knowing this 4K is the cut version, is another disappointment.
I think I had the Taiwanese version on bootleg VHS back in the mid 90s. I remember seeing some different bits, so I'm guessing that was it. Such a shame 88 didn't give us the option...
The colours were definitely much richer in this for sure, the best I've seen it look. And there was moments of audio I felt I had never noticed before :)
Thanks for this ! One important question, what's the Mandarin 5.1 audio like ? I don't actually own the Blu-ray but I have rented it/watched it and as I recall, even though I would normally always want to watch movies in their original language, the quality of the Mandarin audio on the Blu-ray I watched was pretty terrible...switching to the dubbed version (even though I hate the dubbing) and the audio was vastly better, not just in quality but it was different ! with differnet music/sound effects as I recall and it made such a huge difference that I could only watch the dubbed version. I really hope the Mandarin 5.1 soundtrack on this is as good (or better) quality than the English/dubbed audio on the Blu-ray I saw. Another (curious) aspect I'm interested in is the subtitles...the English dub was very different to the subtitles on the Blu-ray I watched, completely changed the meaning at times. These points aside, I really love that artwork/slip, I Love the fact that you get both the 4K and Blu-ray are included (as they should always be imo !) and you have different artwork on each disk. This is a great movie, my 2nd favourite Jet Li movie (after "Fearless") and a top5 martial arts movie for me...although I'm sure I've only seen a tiny fraction of the martial arts movies you have ! 😉
I've just looked some of this stuff up and I can see that the Blu-ray release I previously watched had a Mandarin DD 2.0 dual-mono track, a Cantonese DD 2.0 dual-mono track and an English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Whilst I didn't care for the dubbing of the English track, the quality and enjoyment from the audio of that 5.1 track was vastly superior to either of the Mandarin or Cantonese dual-mono tracks (at least to my ears on my 5.1 system). This new release from 88 films appears to only have Cantonese mono-audio ? That's a big shame because I was really hoping to have that quality 5.1 audio track but with the original language instead of the dub.😞
Hey, sorry, this comment didn't come up for me in my new comments. Glad you found out some info. I've got to get a new 5.1 set up so I can enjoy these much more!
We would have a lot of new bonus features if 88Films didnt listen to the 8 loud egos on social media that got so offended by them bringing Bey Logan into the team. Oh, what could have been....
There weren't loud egos, they were people who didn't want to anything to do with Bey due to his me too incidents, ego trips he was accused of. Let's say half are true on what was said about Bey. So, before shooting off your mouth do your homework before type up crap.
Way much better than the so called American martial arts Garbage and terrible Hollywood knockoffs courtesy of Sylvester Stallone, Jean claude van damme, Mel Gibson, wesley Snipes and Bruce Willis who rely on autoaim when they fire a weapon that cannot hit a target practice and deliver ridiculous punch lines together with parody catchphrases
You say this everytime, don't you get tired of repeating yourself. Look i get you're bitter cause they stole your prom date and are doing cooler things than you. But don't so bitter, get out more and enjoy life.
Original bruce lee fist of fury is better, this was acceptable, if you MUST watch it i say watch the vhs version with no redubbed sfx p.s jet lis jeet kuen do isnt even jeet kuen do, its boxing with kicks, bruce lee would be upset how offensive it is to chinese people. Especially fok yuen gap (also played by jetli aka stupid english title fearless) china was on the verge of colonisation by the i nation alliance: US/uk/gm/fr/jp/ru/hu/it, fok yuen gap (a real martial artist) lived in a time brits fed opium to the chinesez their addiction saw them sell their kids on the street
@GawrGurasBathTubPizza Bruce Lee wouldn't give two s--ts if he were alive. He didn't care for this movie that much to even debate Jet Li over it. He'd wished Fist of Fury's writing would'ev been good as Fist of Legend and having a better director than Lo Wei who only care about horse racing than to care about quality. Both Fist of movies are good but Fist of Legend is better iterms of writing, and the fact Chen Zhen is not a damn psychopath who kills everyone on sight. Something Bruce wasn't a fan of.
Thanks for the kind words mate, so glad you like the artwork! Had a great time putting this one together and 88 Films did a cracking job with the metallics.
Very welcome! Loved it and one of my favs this year :)
The artwork is really beautiful! You’re a a amazing artist.
Looking forward to diving into this 4K - feels like months ago I pre-ordered it 😂
Hopefully it won't take too long!! Enjoy :)
I remember seeing jet li in london when they had the premier of black mask , he turned up in the fist of legend costume too , there is a video of it on youtube
Awesome! I think I saw some footage of that before. Must check it out again :)
Preordered this. Great film and tribute to the original. Been a while since I last watched it. Can't wait.
Awesome! Hope you enjoy it :)
Great vid! I’m lucky to have managed to get the collector’s set because 88 really went all out here. A far cry from the old Dragon Dynasty release.
Yes, it was a fantastic release. Definitely the best yet :)
Mines arrived today . I'm really chuffed with it . Pre-ordered the Bodyguardof Bejing because it looks amazing also.
Good stuff!! yeah, I'm excited for that one :)
I have this and China O'brian on the way. I live in the U.S. so it's taking a minute. Your review has me hyped to see this👍🏻
Awesome, thank you! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)
Hi bro... just wanted to ask. Did you put your 4k disc into the blu-ray player? Or did you get both prints from 88 films?

I always think it depends what player and TV your watching it through. The 4K does have the upper hand of course, but the same restoration is on the Blu-ray and looks amazing. Honestly, to the untrained eye there's not a huge difference at all...
Definitely getting this, but just wondering if its worth getting the 4k or just standard blu ray as the 4k is nearly double the price

Very true. They won't allow it.
Salut,you uploaded great unboxing!take care-💯
Thank you, appreciate it :)
Great video! 88films is the best🔥
Thanks for watching :)
Like previous versions, would have been nice if they included a English Dubb, although always better to watch in the original audio.
I rarely go near the dubs these days, except for my old VHS collection lol Thanks for watching!
Does the the movie play its original soundtrack?
I believe so yes :)
Where can this be ordered within the US online? I would like to have the 4K version but Amazon doesn't carry it.
Hey, you can pick it up here diabolikdvd.com/product/4k-uhd-fist-of-legend-88-films-4k-uhd-all-region-preorder/

You’re welcome,I’m 67 now but travelled to most Local Cinemas in the 1970’s to see the Kung Fu Films.
Nice channel mate have you seen bloodsport
Thanks! Yes indeed, when it first came out and many times since :)
What's the deal with the alternate Cantonese track? Thanks
I've yet to go back and check that out :)

It sure does :) The Taiwanese is the longest I believe. This seemed to be the same version as my other releases. Will double check though!!

Yes, video coming soon :)
Hong Kong Legends weren't able to because it was owned by Dimension. Weinstein's company who owned Dragon Dynasty.
I figured yeah, I guess that's why Cineasia ended up with it :)
How does it compare to the Cine-asia Blu-ray in the picture and audio department? I think maybe you forgot to say your thoughts. Thanks.

Not too sure, although I never listen to them myself :)
