    My mother used to play this and I haven't heard a piano version for well over 40 years, thank you to whoever put this on TH-cam.

      My mother played this as well. No matter who I asked to play it they couldn't. I had it played as background to mums power point with photos at her funeral august last year. It ws a lovely way to farewell her on her 97th birthday

    Incredible rendering. I've waited 30 years to hear this! I suppose it helps a little that the keys and height of the piano are made for men.

    I used to play this when I was 10 yrs old , a Robin used to come through the room window onto the window sill . The local newspaper sent a reporter round , I sat there all day playing it over an over , after much tea and biscuits ,the robin didn't show , the reporter quit and went away . days later the sun was out , I played through it , he appeared , we were elated , but also disappointed , as you let us down Mr Robin , and made us look like a load of fools , but alas ! lol you were so sweet .

    Ironic that I learned to play this as a young boy by my mother who was a pianist in her own right and 70 years later I still enjoy playing this. Nice version.

    For those having trouble:
    Make sure to break the tension in your wrists, shake out, loose shoulders, think like a water pipe that’s got to flow from your shoulders through your wrists. If you’re right, it won’t work.
    Use the arpeggios as a chance to break the tension in your wrists, and as you come “down” in your arc with your right hand (during the theme and the predominant parts, and then mimic it with your left in the others), use that as a moment to relieve any wrist tension at the “top” of your wrists as well.
    Make sure you’re not bearing down or pressing. Remember that it’s a percussive instrument, your fingers should be as well (think hammers).
    I always found this to sound way more difficult than it was to play, and that’s what it is a great add to your repertoire. If you can count the 7 into 1 properly and make sure your rhythm is correct, your fingering, and your technique is on point, and of course relaxed arms, then you should be able to get through it.
    If you’re tight, stop, shake out.

    My wife always tells me about taking piano lessons from her grandfather, Marcus Lombard, in the 1940's when she was a little kid. Marcus had been a concert pianist in the early 1900's and was a "keyboard tyrant" (she constantly reminds me) when he was teaching Rustle of Spring to her. She loved Sabbah's version, and I think it's one of the better versions I've heard. I like it played at a "brisk" tempo.

    I'm not fluent in the beauty and art of playing piano but I must say I love how aggressive it sounds to me. The funny this is rap music brought me here. A song called wu renegades by killarmy. I just loved how they sampled this song. I wondered for years as to who composed this and what it was called. It was in 1997 that I first heard said song. Thank you for your beautifully displayed talent. Sincerely a lover of great music and fine musicians

    It's written in the salon style, it's a piece to show off, you're meant to pull it about. Admittedly, it is a tad fast in one or two places, but it certainly doesn't lose gravitas and intensity.

    • @kalibertech
      @kalibertech 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can learn it! I played this for my junior year recital and I have way tiny hands. I just had to learn how to jump around a lot and make sure it didn't sound choppy. I wish that teachers wouldn't limit their students like that. I think you should learn it on your own and then play it for your teacher just to show her.

      I have fairly small hands, (I can just reach a 9th, forget a 10th! ) and my teacher assigned me this piece. It is possible for smaller hands because it is broken chords rather than blocked. It is a difficult song though!

    There is something wrong with this composition regardless of how beautiful it seems at first sight. Every interpretation is a desperate attempt at trying to fix it, make sense of it somehow. But they all fail. Including this one. You simply cannot play it as it is written. You have to change it somehow.

    • @bcreel83
