Thank you so much for reacting to this! Means a lot too me. :) This is probably my favorite song ever from my favorite band as well. A little bit of background: The band was founded in the 80s and played straight heavy metal and then transcend into this Heavy/Power Metal hybrid in the 90s. The album this song is coming from "The House of Atreus II", is a 2 part concept album about what happened after the Battle of Troy in greek mythology. And as always when greek mythology and gods are involved there is a lot of pathos, tragedies and intrigues going on.
VS is the best band ever, with the greatest vocalist ever. This music if from another planet, is metal, is classical, is ancient poetry. No other band can compose VS albums.
.."perfect mansions" and "summoning the powers" are also two nice tunes from virgin steele..some people keep comparing virgin steele with manowar but manowar have too much fillers on the their albums and can´t deliver what virgin steele can deliver when it comes to music quality.. :)
The song was talking about Greek History. What happened to the King of Greece once he got back home from taking over Troy after The Trojan War. A definite family feud. Wife against husband, and son against mother.
I think you'd like Symphony X and Iced Earth more. Both bands have better vocalists, both are power metal-adjacent but with a bit more edge. Listen to "Iconoclast" by Symphony X, about fighting a rising machine horde a la Terminator or Matrix. Try "The Coming Curse" by Iced Earth, about the antichrist! (Scary!) Do "Iconoclast" by Symphony X, about fighting. Symphony X also has numerous songs referring to Greek mythology, but those might need to wait for another time (or just react to "Charon", or "The Odyssey").
While I'd agree that Symphony X and Iced Earth have more powerful vocalists and heavier production than Virgin Steele, I still think that Virgin Steele has better song composition on their peak albums than Symphony X and Iced Earth. But by all means, it would be good to check out Symphony X and Iced Earth as well.
@@minolykos777 Agreed. I love Matt Barlow and Russel Allen as much as the next person but I wouldn't ever say they are better vocalists. Different to be sure, though. I definitely wouldn't put Ripper above DeFeis
David DeFeis is just an absolute beast. Love Virgin Steele.
Virgin Steele are seriously underrated when it comes to metal.

Yes, this song was sooo good and catchy too!
These 2 albums made Virgin Steele immortal in the heavy metal pantheon.
Love Virgin Steele.
Excellent choice for this song, glad you did, you enjoyed, you're true warrior
Hail David DeFeis, Hail Virgin Steele, Hail TrueMetal.
Manowar. Well they toured together in 1987. It was awesome.
This song has such great composition. So much going on but never strays from the path and melodical throughout.
Saw these dudes like 15 years ago. Good band!
Nevermind, I'm thinking of Agent Steele
Thank you for this one! I love VS so much!

Cheers from Brasil!
El mejor tema de Virgin Steele!!
Man you need old Virgin Steele when David had his voice. Try The Burning of Rome

@PortugueseMACPOW Yeah, it helps for a Metal band to have a defined Mascot.

@CIDLC My favourite singer for Iced Earth is Ripper Owens.

@@fp2405 When David was in his heyday, I’d like to hear who could sing “Noble Savage”.

Virgin Steele has better compositions than those two.
