Thanks for doing this, one of the best metal bands ever. My most favorites are Guardians of the Flame, Noble Savage, Age of Consent, well pretty much all albums until Invictus, with Noble Savage and Marriage of heaven and Hell albums and Invictus being the best probably. Also a great album to start with is the compilation which has even new songs, called ''The Book of Burning'' that or Marriage part 1. Those 2 got me into the band.
Yes! Virgin Steele have risen to be my #1 band over the last couple years after discovering them. Amazing music - unlike anything else out there! Hopefully this video will get a few more people into them, as they're still quite underrated. The best albums to start with are probably Marriage Part 2 and Invictus, I'd say!
I am the same, Virgin Steele is my #1 Metal band, they are very unique. And totally agreed, more people need to check them out, they are not as well known as the other metal bands people always talk about, hopefully more people will check them out because of Questy's video.
@NobleSavage1985 Savatage is awesome, I've known them for many years, and I recently recently re-listened to their discography again, and I really enjoyed, they really no bad album, only ''Streets: Rock Opera'' is a bit of a dud, but the rest is awesome. However I agree Savatage doesn't really reach the awesomeness of Virgin Steele for me either.
@NobleSavage1985 Yep I am, I already was trying to get Justin Horval to talk about Virgin Steele, but he doesn't really do that ranking thing at all, and honestly he prefers Dave's project Exorcist which was great, but he brought attention to that more so than to Virgin Steele.. But yea anytime I can I try to mention virgin steele on these metal channels, and on my channel I made like some compilations of Dave's vocals, I was thinking to do a new video of like Dave DeFeis vocal showcase, but more in depth showing his greatest vocal lines, I might still do that one day.
@NobleSavage1985 well he talks more about Original Sin, and Exorcist ''Nightmare Theatre'' Dave's side projects he did in 1985 in the Noble Savage era, he does not really talk about Virgin Steele at all, all he says about it is ''Wasn't it all done by the guy from Virgin Steele and on Original Sin that was his sister singing.'' That's all he says, he does not actually talk about Virgin Steele at all, only about those 2 projects of Dave DeFeis I mentioned.
@@VampireJack10 Oh ok the way I found Virgin Steele was from a compilation of Judas Priest tribute album, Virgin Steele covered ''Screaming for Vengeance'' and ''Desert Plains'' and the Steele cover was so unique that it made me want to check out the band, this was around 2015 I think.
For me Invictus wasn't the easiest to get into, the marriage of Heaven and Hell part 1 was like so addictive, that one got me into the band, Invictus took me a while to get into it, because it has more of the clean vocals, and not as much of the classic raspy vocals like on marriage or Noble Savage etc. Still now it's one of my faves.
Life Among the Ruins is really good bluesy glammy hard rock album, I know it's not a fan favorite by any stretch, but I think it's still a great album.

Thank you for this video, Virgin Steele was one of my alltime favourite bands until Visions of Eden. Totally love the 90ies stuff. It's funny, I totally agree with your ranking, I have exactly the same only besides Life Among Ruins, which includes some great tracks. But besides this, I cannot agree more. All albums after Visions of Eden are horrible and really shit (it gets even worse with each new release, what a shame). I have a theory, that aliens took David away and replaced him with a bad clone. It's quite not possible, that this is the same guy now that wrotes so many godlike albums in the 80ies and 90ies... Cheers from Switzerland

Great video! Although I wouldn't agree with everything. Best example are the albums "Black Light Bacchanalia" and "Passion of Dionysus": I find both exceptional and listen to them regularly - definitely 7 or 8 out of 10 for me. But they're kind of a different genre to Marriage, Invictus or even the stuff from the 80s. It's more in the direction of progressive metal, and I have to take my time and be in the mood. The same goes for the great Life Among the Ruins: it's 80s romantic hard rock, not power metal. And if you expect the latter, you will be disappointed.
B Tier for the s/t is too high, it just sounds like demo. Life Among the Ruins > st. I feel like you've put the first 4 albums one step too high and you should've distinguished between marriage 1 & 2 and atreus 1 & 2. Visions of Eden is A Tier IMO. The songs are phenomenal, it's just the production that's not as good. Black Light is B IMO, it has a couple of really great songs. You said it's mid, so mid should be B. You don't like ballads, but Ghost Harvest has a couple of really good songs. Justine is an amazing song.

I love that Original Sin album too but it doesn't QUITE work for my dumb "It's secretly a Virgin Steele album" joke because it's got David's sister on vocals instead of the man himself. That Piledriver album from '86 with Edward Pursino playing guitars on it is sick too, kind of a similar guitar style to Exorcist.

Life Among The Ruins is not that bad. I prefer the Pop Metal songs of this album than the Pop Metal tunes on NS, AOC and the debut. Still way better than Black Lights. It contains maybe their best ballad: Never Believed in Goodbye. It would be a bottom C for me.
