Thanks for making this video, it brought back a lot of memories, I lived at Bish for nearly 5 months and met my wife here! By the way the room with the stained glass in the ceiling was the bar, it must just have been used for storage at the end, yes Police training schools used to have an onsite bar :-) It was the end of an era when they closed this place, the training facilities have been replaced at Carr Gate but it's not the same as being residential.
I don't normally approve of entering buildings that are "out of bounds"...but,.... having spent time here during my own training it was nice to see the old place again. Lots of memories. It was also nice to see how tasteful and respectful the video was A hesitant thumbs up but a thumbs up none the less.
I get so pissed off when I see ex goverment buildings that have been abandoned with so much stuff that could have been re used or sold. Piss poor use of public funds. Shocker!
Was there any forensic training there as I study sciences and medicine histology histopathology cytology forensic pathology diagnostic medicine biomedical bone sciences ect and neuropathology
Blast from the past this. Did my initial training in here back in 1995. Nearly 30 years ago but helps bring back happy memories of my mum and dad being there to watch me being sworn in. Mad how i struggle to remember what i did this morning but being there is clear as day in my head.
This piece is so well edited.Being an avid explorer myself I like the way you have presented it.You can see that you care about the explore, filming in a way that you capture what you see, only leaving 🐾 behind and nothing else,so many places others have destroyed so that it gives other urban explores a bad name and reputation, and that I hate.....Thank you for sharing guys, keep up the good work !!!!!!
It’s such a shame that when government buildings are abandoned, they don’t allow charities to take over it and reuse it for anything from homeless shelter, food banks, mental health groups meet ups for ex-forces/soldiers with ptsd or other similar issues, social club meets for elderly, or whatever other type of needs that could use a building, instead the government just lets it rot over the years! Could’ve put it to good use even for a few years SMH
I do a bit of urbexing, watched a lot of disappointing urbex videos but I like your sensible approach and sober narration, no melodrama. Good music too.
Bit late to the party on this one, but regardless I just want to say thank you for treating the building, and it's legacy with such respect. I have some fond memories of attending courses at Bishopgarth, and it is incredibly sad to see how it was left. Stay safe, and best of luck for your future adventures.
Great video and good job on recording some history so future generations can see how great britain was. Shame on West Yorkshire Police for leaving that facility behind and not taking the plates and crest. I'm sure any new recruits are not as well looked after nowadays. Love the plates, hope you took a few.
Really great video, very well documented, clearly lots of time and effort gone into putting the edit together. Will definitely be checking out some of your others, thanks for sharing.. 👍
I live in Wakefield and only knew it was there for years but didnt know it was that big and also didnt know it was abandoned wow thanks for sharing with us all guys x
Thank you for being courteous and caring it’s a shame about all the vandalism but I guess at least their was some protection but sadly individuals always find their way in
I used to work in the forensics dept here about 20 years ago, shame you didn't get into that building, would have been cool seeing that in a new light...
Used to work in Kitchen at Bish in late 90s, explored it shortly before the demo, Seggy was sound when I told him I'd worked there, even had a brew with him, Shame you didn't get into the gym and especially the Bishops House
I would love you guys to get into Brotherton House, Leeds city centre, was the Leeds City Police HQ back in the sixties. Long abondoned but still standing and looks in good shape, no smashed windows etc. I hear the police (may BTP) still own the building and have seen signs of activity in recent months. Sometimes see a police car or van parked outside.
Sick video lads, looks like an amazing place. I’d have loved to visit it but I guess it’s too late at this point unfortunately. Great cinematics in the buildings as well, keep it up ;)
Urbandoned ok fair enough, you’re lucky to be one of the last people to visit it before it goes down. Btw if you didn’t notice my account name, in the guy sharing the map of abandoned places w/ you and bongo
I understand why they demolished this place, it is way to close to other buildings and houses. It probably was a eye-soar and people wanted it gone and the land is to valuable not to put up new development. Nice explore.
I recall visiting the site in the mid 1990's and being told all about the Yorkshire Ripper case by officers who were on the case at the time. The complex had a Police Box (TARDIS) in the middle at one time. It must have been moved as it was listed from what I was told.
Can't help but agree with a lot of the other comments, what a disgrace that all the furniture and equipment was left behind it could of been sold or given away. Shame on them.
didn't close down they relocated close to the M1 but its cheaper to buy new than to reuse so they left everything behind & guess what all the tables & cabinets could have been sold off to companies who are just starting up
Thanks for sharing. A great Urbex video. You lads do a great job. There was a lot of good condition furniture that got left behind that could easily be reused but I suppose when it's the tax payer who is paying for everything why should the West Yorkshire Bacon Boys give a toss. Warm regards from Ireland.
We aren’t from the area so we are not sure. We have heard that it started getting demolished not long ago so I’m guessing they would be partway through by now :)
Oh lads congrats on a very well presented and narrated piece of film but on the roof you were right next to what looked live microwave transmitters you must not go near them they give of massive amounts of radiation and are very very bad for you.
hey man, cool place, quick tip, this is what my media tutor told me, try using a tripod for still shots, it makes it look a little cleaner, you could then add a camera shake when editing, i personally don't tho, good video tho, I'm subbed BTW, i do Urbexing in the west midlands and would be grateful if you'd check out my channel
Hi man, we generally do use a tripod but hold it handheld as it adds extra support and smoothness for moving clips i.e where I'm walking around in the building. I have very recently found about this tactic you said and I will be trying it at my next abandoned location I go to! So thanks a lot for sharing it! And yes of course I'll check out your channel :)
Such a shame how the training academy ended up. I’m an aspiring Police Constable myself, so it’s very eerie to see an academy in such disrepair. I imagine the Bishop Garth academy that you explored here in this video, was replaced by the newer Carr Gate academy in Wakefield.
What a waste. Sign of the times unfortunately as Bobbies are now absorbed by the community rather than stand out as authoritarians. Great film, carry on the good work.
Congrats on a well presented urbex an amazing site soon to be lost to history 👍
Cheers Keith, appreciate it a lot!

I started my police career there in 1986. Its a shame to see it in that state. I have lots of fond memories of the times I spent there.
I. Was 4 years old when you was training mate
I was born in 1982

Trust me
Its a Labour Council - give them some jip!
Same sort of thing in my force area, the amount of waste is criminal, pun intended.
And they complain they have no money
Amazing to finally see where my dad studied for years great video.
Was there any forensic training there as I study sciences and medicine histology histopathology cytology forensic pathology diagnostic medicine biomedical bone sciences ect and neuropathology
Are you male or female Catriona

Urbandoned your welcome fella,We need more of your work posted, get rid of some of the bad ones others have posted, show them how it really done !!!!!,
Epic explore. Glad you were able to get in before demolition. That main hall was something else!
Yeah it was, thanks man :3
Great work but rather sad
Awesome video. I went a few months back and got caught by security. Gutted never got in 1 building
Very respectful video, well done. Can't believe how much stuff could've been salvaged prior to demolition.
Really well done capturing the feeling of this historic place.. thank you
No problem! Thanku :)

fantastic video, and a great insight into an abandoned building. Nice to see you respected the surroundings.
Thankyou so much, really appreciate the kind words :)

I did got some "overseas" courses in that place for two months in 1989. I learned now. What a pity. :(( I think moved to Carr Gate. Good job.Thanks.

Wow that’s mad. Thanks for sharing man
Fantastic video guys well done
Sad to see this facility in such disarray. Back in the late '90s, my wife was a guest instructor there.
Great video lads. Thanks for sharing.
This is brilliant! I'll be watching loads more of these.
Wow very beautiful place. Keep up good work
Thank you for being courteous and caring it’s a shame about all the vandalism but I guess at least their was some protection but sadly individuals always find their way in

I used to work in the forensics dept here about 20 years ago, shame you didn't get into that building, would have been cool seeing that in a new light...
I hope they saved as much as they could E.G. the beautiful stained glass windows and the lecture hall seats.
Really good video and looks like a great explore!

Thanks so much bro, yeah it sucks. It was on the inch of demolition when we were there, we just didn’t film any of it.
Urbandoned ok fair enough, you’re lucky to be one of the last people to visit it before it goes down.

Looks better now than it ever did. And what a waste of our money leaving perfectly good crockery behind lol.
The wastefulness is astonishing!
Hopefully someone save the stained glass panels. worth saving.
What a waste of our taxes
Is the site no longer there because I’ve been dying to visit? Like such well kept building, shame it couldn’t last longer.
Amazing channel love the naration. Is there any shopping centres you could get into?
Wow.😮👍🏻
There's alot off equipment that could be donated to cheritys
That whole bldg is being used for the sole purpose of holding up the WiFi antenna HaHa 0:12
