  • This is my Keyhole Piano Shell. I've done a Walkaround to show you what can be done with one of these. This is the 40" referenced on their website as the WHISKEY. I also got the optional Key Master Package that included the Pedal Lyre (nicely anchors the pedal so you don't have to chase it around), Classic Music Stand, Suspended interior panel (Bamboo is standard but I got the optional Zebrawood), the Lid, Lid Prop, finished underside of lid and finished rim around the edge of the exposed top. There are other options available including a built in mic stand that can be affixed to the piano directly eliminating pesky mic stand wondering all over).
    Check them out:

If you would like to check these guys out, tell George that Danny Vanderpool sent you and he will take good care in helping you get one of these. Also, give a shout out to Michael. He is the guy that oversees the actual build of the piano shell. You guys let me know if you have any questions.

Amazing. Do you have speakers mounted into the wooden soundboard part of the shell? If so can you provide some details, and is this something that keyhole can custom install many thanks 😊

The speakers are located in the shell itself. They are not mounted, just resting inside. They are powered speakers and I have volume pre-set. There is a mixer located outside the shell within reach so I can adjust things.

How much did this setup cost you?

The Piano Shell was $2,400. I don't think the Yamaha CP-33 stage piano I used in the shell is being made anymore, it was just an extra piano I had for gigs. You can get decent digital pianos for well under $1,000. The cool thing about the setup is you can try the piano out at the music store knowing exactly what the setup will sound like in your grand piano. Also, you will need some sort of sound system. I used powered monitor speakers with a sub woofer but that might be overkill for some. Also, some keyboards come with their own sound.

@@dannyvanderpool $2400 for just the shell?

@@xxxxxxxyyyyyyy That is correct... you can get them cheaper if you don't add the Master Package (see description above all that is included in the Master Package.

@@dannyvanderpool Thank you for this video, it is a beautiful shell, I will give you that, but the price for me is difficult to justify. I will ask my carpenter for a counter offer for the frame + professional piano black finish. I understand that this is a labor intensive construction, not to mention all the painting preps, so I do expect a more expensive offer from a non-specialised manufacturer, let's check this out.

@@IONYVDFC I agree that it is a bit of a stretch but it made sense to me. I could have invested twice that amount on a full blown digital grand (Yamaha or Roland) but surely those pianos would become out dated after a while. If that happens with the shell, simply re populate with a new stage piano. For me it was the right thing to do. Thanks for you interest!!
