Love the minnows. The old first generation Surface Cruiser is still an amazing plug if you can find them. The new ones not so much. Not sure if the material changed or not. I know the old ones were 1 3/8, 2 1/4 and 3 1/2 oz. I tried a bunch of the new ones and while they cast well, they just don't work as well as the old ones. They don't weigh the same either. Much more effort and speed to get them on top. I really wish you guys would take a hard look at this plug again and go back to the old design.
me and my brothers have 7 feet poles and I never heard of yo zuri until the guy at the captain harry's said to buy one and I did but I haven't use it yet because i'm still using the squid I had left. but i'm tired of dealing with bait I want to use a lure to catch these fish instead of having to always buy bait when I can get up and leave catch a few fish and go about my business.
So you said to buy the Hydro minnow long cast and that's going to help me catch plenty of fish? So all I have to do is just cast out and start hooking fish I'm going to buy it today
I have a 7 foot rod cause having a 9 feet or 8 feet pole is toooo tall for me cause I'm 5'6 lol. I love fishing with a one piece rod and I'm using mono fishing line 20 pound test. I heard you said you're using a braided line? What's the difference between that and the mono fishing line?
At your height you can and should get used to using an 8 foot surf rod. Mono cast like crap. 30lb braid will have the same diameter as 8lb mono. There is no stretch to the line so it is super sensitive and easy to set the hook. Learn the proper knots for braid or your not can and will slip. Once you get used to it you will never go back.
NY long island south shore, blues and and stripers LOVE the bone minnow and the dark blue 3d minnow, unfortunately sea robins love it too
