Tango & Cash. Stallone and Russell are a perfect duo.
I was waiting for someone to bring up this classic, Thank you!
My guy, great review of this amazing movie but how can you talk about the special features and fail to mention the best commentary ever??? the Stallone commentary on this is amazing. It's like watching the movie with him sitting next to you.
The younger fans in the comments who think Creed is his best movie might not enjoy it but any old school fan of this movie will love it.
You’re absolutely right it is one of the best commentary tracks ever. Actually he’s always good to listen too. He’s a very smart man. I love Arnold and hes great with his commentary tracks too but it’s more like him trying to explain basic details to us loll. Absolutely though this movie is great and is still his best film in my opinion and only gets better every time U watch it. Thanks for the compliment also. It’s really appreciated.
Over the Top. Who knew we needed a Stallone movie about armwrestling
That’s probably still my brothers favourite movie lol. I had to watch that with him so much. I’m not going to lie though, enjoy it lol
Judge Dredd. "I am the law"
I have a soft spot for this own actually.
My favorite 1980's comedy is Trading Places
That’s a classic and film I still love also.
My favorite 1980s comedy is Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Good choice! I just rewatched that one and I still enjoy it
rambo & rocky both are my favorite
You really can’t go wrong with either!
Overboard (1987) is my favorite comedy
I love that movie so much! Great choice.
Rambo is a excellent film and I'm glad he was added in for mortal kombat 11
How can you beat him? He wipes out whole villages. I assume he can take out sub zero lol
Rocky is definitely my favorite Stallone movie. 😁
I do love the Rocky Character. I still give the edge to Rocky 4 lol.
The Suicide Squad + Airplane!. As always great shirt. I just got the Paddy's Pub shirt. Going to wear it to a taping of their podcast in September.
That’s awesome! I’m actually going to their podcast taping in October and. can’t wait. I was looking forward to your answer, Airplane is a classic and his performance as King Shark was great. Easily the best part of that movie and I love that film lol.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia Oh, So cool it is very exciting and should be fun. It's a testament to how good that show is that it's fun just to listen to them talk about it. Just in case you haven't seen it yet here's a link to the unaired space pilot they wrote years ago. th-cam.com/video/Ku7vBWJHO5s/w-d-xo.html . There are a lot of other unaired pilots that are interesting to see on that channel as well. Hope I didn't disappoint with my answer, I almost went with Oscar just to keep up picking comedies but I couldn't do that. This Just reminded me The Suicide Squad is on the list of movie codes that Warner Bros. has been cancelling recently as part of what ever this tax write off thing they're pulling right now. I'm not a hundred percent on that though. A lot of times if you contact customer service they give you a replacement but I'm not sure what WB is doing now a days. I'll look into how to check for you.
Rocky 2 is my personal favorite
That’s my number 2 Rocky film.
That movie was filmed in British Columbia where one of my relatives lived at the time of filming. I lived in Calgary Alberta Canada and my grandfather’s brother which would be my great uncle came to visit. He told me that Sylvester Stallone is filming a movie in his town. I asked him what movie he said “ I don’t know I just saw a bunch of army trucks. “ anyway, I bought the trilogy on 4K, had them since 2018 and haven’t opened them yet. lol great review as always.
Thank you so much I appreciate it. I always thought the area they filmed in looked beautiful. Your uncle lived in a nice area it looks like. I think you’ll like those 4ks if you ever crack them open lol.
Question One:
Alot of people don't chat about this pick as much but I'll have to go with Grudge Match. He and Robert De Niro was great in that comedy film. So much fun!
Question Two:
My favorite cop and dog 1980s comedy would have to be Turner and Hooch. My favorite 1980s comedy horror type film is Once Bitten. Easily one Of Jim Carrey's best to this day. Wonderful film! My favorite 1980s dark comedy sort of film is Dead Poet's society. That is my favorite 1980s movie in general. It has good funny bits but man that movie just hits hard. Also hits even harder knowing today makes Nine years since we lost Robin Williams. Very hard to believe. He was a fantastic man that never failed to satisfy our need for laughter. My favorite 1980s Rom-Com is easily Valley Girl. This movie was spectacular that you just cannot get enough of watching it. Most certainly my favorite Nic Cage film.
Thank you for the chance brother!
I didn’t have a problem with Grudge match actually. Thank you for that great answer to the second part buddy. First of all Turner and Hooch is one of my favourites period. so love Tom Hank’s and you put him in an 80s comedy with a big dog? I’m all in Lol. Once Bitten is also great. I only saw that for the first time last year when I got it in a double pack. Valley girl I think put Nic Cage on the map. He’s great in that. Dead Poets Society is also fantastic and your right it makes it hard to believe how long we have been without Robin Williams. That was one of the hardest celebrity deaths to accept.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia I still haven't come to accept it. Breaks my heart knowing we will never get anything new from that man. He had such a wide range of films. It was never ending with Robin Williams.
It really wasn’t. He could do anything and what hurts the most is knowing that this guy who brought other people so much joy was suffering so much.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia It shows that even celebrities are humans too and have feelings. Really breaks my heart that he was so determined to make us all happy and was going through everything he was.
That’s what I feel bad about to. He truly made other people special and he was suffering so much. He’s one of the most special people to walk this earth.
Rocky is common titled as i can see but he's the most iconic character that Stallon played
He definitely is. You’ll think of Rocky before you think of Stallone lol.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia that's true
Rocky is my favorite Stallone movie!
You can never go wrong with Rocky.
My favorite Stallone film is Judge Dredd. Watched it too many times back on VHS
That’s one that has gotten a bad wrap but it’s still very enjoyable.
Escape Plan is my favorite Stallone film
that’s a good one!
Cobra is one of my favourites... its a shame there wasn't a part 2, also cliffhanger was great too
I just watched Cobra last year for the first time and boy was I missing out. That’s a great 80s movie.
My favorite Stallone film is probably First Blood Part II since it’s the only one I’ve seen lol
Well that’s a fair reason for it to be number lol. That’s actually my favourite of the Rambo Sequel’s.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia it’s almost so bad it’s good. I still need to watch first blood tho…
First Blood is so much more slowed down and feels like real people compared to the second one lol. I love the Frank Stallone song in 2 though.
Besides Rocky I think Stallone's performance as Rocky Balboa in Creed was definitely worthy of an Oscar
I agree and I think he was nominated and should of won.
Crap I need got the notification
The expandples is my favorite Stallone film
You came in under the gun lol. That’s a good choice.
Cliffhanger I'm surprised that it was that terrifying and scary
I haven’t seen this one in a very long time. I remember it being all right.
I have notice with these rambo 4k films and the rocky 4k they like to make the black background to them especially the 4k steelbook for rocky
They do like to use the black background as a base. I noticed that in the art too lol.
There's supposedly a new Rambo box set in the works with new transfers and extras.
I hope that happens. I would love to see a new edition of this.
I was watching Parenthood yesterday and I really forgot how great a comedy it was. Lots of great comic timing and at the same time there is so much heart in it. I remembered when I watched it for the very first time I really was surprised with who had a baby at the end of the story, did not see that coming. Ron Howard has come a long way since but I find that his earlier movies like Splash, Cocoon, Apollo 13 & Ransom really gets me emotional. We seriously need Splash on 4K! Damn Disney!!
This is a great choice. I love Parenthood I’ve seen it over 10 times. I don’t know why it doesn’t get talked about more. The cast is great and they all feel like real people in a real family with their own normal drama. Splash would be a great 4K that’s one I would love to have in my collection as a huge Tom Hank’s fan it’s very well directed by Ron Howard. He really knew how to make a great 80s comedy.
Escape Plan. It was great to see two living legends, Stallone and Schwarzenegger, share the screen together.
That’s what sold me on the movie. I actually enjoyed it. They were a little past their time but it was still fun to watch.
The Expendables. Love seeing a movie with a bunch of aging action stars give it their all.
You can’t say that they didn’t give it their all.
My favorite 80s comedy is Planes, Trains and Automobiles 😊
That might be number one also. I don’t go a year without watching it.
Rocky the undefeated character of Stallone!
It’s hard to debate against what is his most iconic role!
Great review John! I love First Blood, but Rocky pips it for me! Lol. I too am fascinated with the Vietnam war, theres some really good movies on the topic. Favourite 80s comedy? That's a tough one. Vacation is up there for me, so is Airplane and The Naked Gun.
Thanks Buddy I appreciate it. The Vietnam war has really lent it self great to film. Apocalypse now is probably the best but Jacobs ladder is one that’s underrated. I think Christmas Vacation might be my choice but I do love Airplane. I can’t believe it’s still funny.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia I watched Apocalypse Now once and it didn't appeal to me lol Never seen Jacobs Ladder but love Platoon, Born on the fourth of July and Hamburger Hill. Causalities of War is another good one! Yeah, Christmas Vacation is brilliant, viewed annually lol
O yea thats definitely a once a year watch loll. I love Platoon and Born on the fourth of July but I don’t think I’ve seen Hamburger Hill.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia I highly recommend Hamburger Hill mate!
You’ve never given me a bad movie recommendation so i’ll check that one out for sure.
Creed is my favorite with Stallone
He was great in that! Should of won him an Oscar.
My favorite film of his is the first creed film. Thanks for the chance
No problem! Thanks for always entering and supporting the channel Shane. It’s very appreciated and that’s a great choice.
Judge Dredd is my favorite Sylvester Stallone =)
I actually like that one. I don’t think it’s a great movie but it’s sure fun to watch.
Rocky is my favourite
You can’t think of Stallone without thinking of Rocky.
Absolute classic 💪👍💿😄 got all the rambo films in 4 k uhd 👌🎬
I only have the one so far but I really love First Blood!
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia my favourite 👌🎬
You have great movie taste Stuart!
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia got new video up on classic films IV not seen 👌🎥🎬👍😄
That’s awesome, I’ll check that out tonight. Thanks buddy.
I also picked this up for $5 mainly for a few newly released bonus features, after having multiple editions from VHS to Blu-ray, but this 4K is far richer in detail under the overcast look throughout most of the film. I was 12 when it was originally released and it’d probably be a PG-13 flick by today’s standards and only one person died accidentally in it, versus the body count Rambo racked up in the novel plus his own demise! Ive actually wrote a screenplay for fun to a First Blood prequel centered on his exploits in Vietnam under the mentorship of a younger Capt. Trautman that shapes who he’s to become, which I drew partially from Pvt Taylor and Sgt Elias in Platoon😎
That’s awesome that you did that! Honestly i’m surprised they never explored their relationship more other then brining it up in the films. I personally think is the best in the franchise and it’s not really close for me. This movie only gets better each time I watch it.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia both Hollywood and independent film producers treat film properties first and foremost as commodities and sell their products accordingly to market trends and demands. If you’ve read James Cameron’s original Rambo 2 screenplay, before it was altered by Stallone to capitalize on his Starpower at the time (which did just that), R2 could’ve been a deeper film combing elements of The Deer Hunter and Uncommon Valor. This is also why Kirk Douglas left FB, because his vision and ending for FB aligns more with the concepts of the book. FB is a very well made 80s action & suspense flick and the purest to all of its sequels, but it’s very much a commercial franchise like how James Bond and F&F flicks evolving into a totally different animal for the sake of conforming to movie trends.
@nickchang5293 I couldn’t have said it better myself. kirk Douglases idea for the ending was to far fetched so i’m pretty happy with the ending we got.
For sure rocky
It has to be Rocky!
I’m not the biggest Stallone fan but I can’t go against Rocky as my favorite. It’s such a classic film and still stands the test of time. For the comedy I’ll go with A Fish Called Wanda. Haven’t seen it many years but I remember really liking it at the time.
I’m right there with you James. I’ve never been the biggest fan of his But I love Rocky and First Blood. And some other performances. A fish called Wanda is great I was just talking about that movie 20 minutes ago lol. I still quote Kevin Kline in that
The Expendables is my favorite
Great choice!
My favorite Stallone film is probably Demolition Man. I like a lot of his stuff but that seems like one I could watch any time.
My favorite 1980s comedy is hard. Could be Princess Bride, Ferris Bueller, Overboard, Coming to America, or Twins.
Demolition man really is great. I’m a huge Taco bell fan so that movie speaks right to my soul lol. Twins is pretty high up on my list but so are Coming to America and Overboard.
My favorite is creed.
He’s great in Creed and bringing the series full circle.
Superb
Thank you so much!
King Shark was excellent for Stallone
I’m so glad that role is memorable because that was easily my favourite part of that movie.
The expandables is excellent for Stallone glad to see the 4th one!
I can’t believe it’s coming but ill be there to see it!
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia same here I mean who isn't
Stallone role in The Expandbles Stallon is excellent in the film with Arnold!
I just like that we get to see them all working together. You hear about the rivalries that they all had and you get most of the big action stars in a series that really shouldn’t work but still does.
Favorite Stallone Film Rocky 4
That’s my favorite Rocky movie as well.
First Blood
That’s my choice as well! I love this movie.
Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot. I love that Schwarzenegger trick Stallone into taking the movie role lol
That’s one of my favorite Hollywood stories ever lol
Rocky for sure is my favorite!
It’s hard not to pick Rocky. It’s his most iconic role and the series is still going.
The rambo films are excellent and ecen the 4Ks look good
They were the first 4ks that made me appreciate the Jump to 4k.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia though what would you say is the weakest 4K of the film's? Rambo collection?
I’ve only seen the sequels on 4k once because I don’t own them myself but I believe Rambo 3? That’s also my least favorite of them all so take that what a grain of salt lol. I just think First Blood is head and shoulders better then the rest.
Rocky no doubt about that pretty much
It’s really hard to say that anything tops Rocky because that’s the first thing that pops in my head when I think Stallone.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia yeah okay so heads uo some channla apparently is saying I made different accounts so heads up on him since he's trying to drag me into controversy so be careful just in case
No problem thanks for the heads up. I’m not worried about it lol.
National Lampoon's Vacation. Peak Chevy Chase.
I would pick Christmas Vacation just slightly over this one but I just rewatched this and it’s still such a classic movie.
Demolition Man
Great choice my friend. Hopefully Taco bell ends up being the only food that’s left lol
Rocky
Great choice Mr. Hardy.
Cliffhanger
Nice choice Han
The suicide squad King Shark was great to of course Rocky
I loved King Shark loll. Him trying to sneak with his fin as a fake moustache had me crying loll
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia agreed that was good
Danm I'm out of the house for a jog. It's a festival at my area
At least your not driving you would never get out of there lol. They have one by me every year and I can’t go to work that day lol
I mean Vaction is still a classic but the 4K is excellent thats all I'll say about the 4K
I’m actually reviewing that 4k Monday, I’ll tell you the amount I laughed helped to ease the pain of no extras lol.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia yeah but the MA release has a documentary on the film from 2011 or 12
I would of loved to see that! I can’t believe that Vacation is still that funny lol
Rush Hour is hilarious
That’s one of my all time favorites. It’s still so enjoyable.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia yeah and I think it needs a 4K transfer with HDR AND atmos or a new 5.1 track
It really needs an upgrade, Ten whole trilogy does really. The Blu rays are always cheap but their a little older now and these movies would look and sound beautiful with a 4k and atmos upgrade.
I think Escape Plan is not bad
It’s better then it had any right being.
Have you done any research to the original film elements? I think First Blood did not have a great budget to begin with, so flaws could be product of age and deterioration, as well. Not that anyone is tracking Film Prints and/or movie reels to compare presentation, although that would be awesome.
They did slot of on location filming and I assume not being able to light well hurt some scenes and yes the budget for this one wasn’t the biggest. It’s funny this was the first 4K that really sold me on 4K it just impressed so much when I first saw it. Unfortunately tech has gotten better sense then and I think if they go back to this they can improve on it even more. Still a solid release though.
He’s also not terrible in the expendables.
I always consider those his movies even though everyone is in them lol
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia
And by everyone, you mean everyone and you’d be correct
The transfer is good but it could be better. A bit drab. Selling off my old slip case copy because I just got the Steelbook at Walmart thinking it might be a new transfer but it’s the same one. I should’ve grabbed that RAMBO Steelbook box set when I had the chance. It was right in front of me at Best Buy but I thought, “I’ll get it later!” Of course when I went back another day it was gone.
I agree about the transfer. I was blown away by it when I first saw it but unfortunately it’s showing its age. I did love that steelbook box set they released. I just don’t love the sequels but the artwork on all of those was beautiful
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia I’m not really fond of the sequels either. I’ve only held onto an old Blu-ray box set and a standalone RAMBO Blu-ray for the sake a complete-ism. I thought LAST BLOOD was okay. Not great but not terrible. I’m also getting rid of my slip case copy of it since I got the Steelbook for that one as well. It’s kind of hard to watch RAMBO since it’s so excessively violent. Didn’t get the unrated version, just the normal R rated version.
@harrisoncastleberry458 Yepe! That one was rough for me too. It felt like it wanted to just be action and gore without caring about the characters. Last blood was alright I agree. I would actually like that steelbook. My expectations were a little high for that one and i’m not sure why.
Revenge of the Nerds 🤣
It’s a classic for a reason lol
King shark for the win!!!!!!
Loll I loved him so much. He gave me my biggest laughs from that movie.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia
“Fake mustache”
That’s all thst needs to be said
That’s the exact thing I think of lol. He actually thought he had a shot loll
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia
He thought it all through
Then ….. after he says it you see him in the back ground with his hand / finger making a fake mustache
That joke was built up so perfect. He was so confident that it was going to work and then his reaction when it didn’t was perfect lolll
Who's Matt 😂
lmaooooo just some guy I used to know.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia No lost & It's a blessing, Buddy 🍻
Thank! I really appreciate it.
Wow! This also was my 1st 4k but I was not blown away and was upset when I watched this 4k because I saw FIRST BLOOD at the drive-in and then on VHS, beta, laserdisc, cable tv and bought it on dvd, bluray. And I never ever questioned the color timing or the image till I saw this 4k. I was "Damn, I wasted my money on this new format." It took watching FULL METAL JACKET and THE SHINING for me to see 4k can look great. But to me it took watching FIRST BLOOD 4k a few times for me to get over the flaws of this 4k. I think that's why this 4k is always priced so cheap. The color timing changes and sometimes the images look 4k and sometimes they don't. I feel the same way for FIRST BLOOD 2 4k and really disappointed at RAMBO 3 4k with all the action and explosions the 4k sound is lame.
That’s a strange coincidence loll. those other 4ks are way better then this but this one shows how the early 4ks have aged pretty badly. I called Matt the first time I saw this 4k and made him come over to see it. The Tech has gotten so much better that this and most before 2020 4ks I think may need new scans now.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia They may be planning it and that's why every Black Friday and sale it's $5. They want to get rid of this stock.
It makes sense. Hopefully we get a new scan. There is plenty of room for improvement.
Hi, how is the old 2008 BR vs the new 1080p with the 4 k,; I don't have 4k system but old reviews say this release is better even at 1080p as well. What do you guys think?
@g.sferrazza10-13 It’s definitely better then a previous blu ray for sure. This scan when it first was done blew me away, It’s showing its age now but it’s still a better scan then the previous blu ray for sure.
Judge Dredd yes bad but laughable admitly
I always enjoy it. It’s not as good as Dredd but I enjoy the cheese with this own lol.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia it's so cheesy but hilarious bad
I agree! They definitely went for it loll.
A very silly American film . Please dont try to put it in the same league as Deer Hunter or Apocalypse Now . This was filmic junk food for the Ronald Rayguns video generation
I would absolutely put it up there with The Deer Hunter or Apocalypse now. As far as the message of the movie they’re very similar while the other two are more of an epic in scope. Rambo is a container story that takes place over a shorter amount of time and is in a small town. But it’s still a Vietnam story about how Soldiers are treated when they returned and what they had to cope with. V
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia Absolutely not . Its up there with Green Berets and other pro America nonsense ( Oh the poor GI's etc . What about the poor Vietnamese you bastards murdered ?
My favorite Stallone movie is ROCKY 2. My favorite 80s' comedy is CHEECH & CHONG'S NEXT MOVIE.
Those are both great choices. I really appreciated Rocky 2 more this time around. It’s actually my number 2 in the franchise now.
Rocky
Great choice and it’s hard to beg against Rocky he’s the ultimate underdog.
@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia He's the best actor for the films
It’s one of those story’s where art reflects reality.
Rocky
You can’t debate against Rocky lol
I meN you really can't:/
I think that’s the first thing that pops in your head when you here Stallone.
