He actually found his mother and went to her but his mother rejected him because she already had a rich husband and a family... he also thought of committing suicide but a music teacher he met told him to sing and be famous to show his mother to show he wasnt just a mistake in the world. Before this, he lived such a hard and difficult past, and that past life and sudden fame is what led him to do what he did (doesn't excuse it, but you can see why he did what he did). Money was so scarce for him and he wanted to use that fame because he knew fame didn't last that long, so to keep being relevant, he did what he did.

I had watched this young man sang couple times now. Every time I watch him sang I cry. I was an orphan too, my father passed away when I was 6 or 7 years old. My mother got married and let us children alone. My siblings and I are struggle to survive during many times of trials. When we came to America in 1977 after the Vietnam War, we cannot speak and write English at all. We live a life in the lost world in America. Back in my teenager year with very limited English and have no money at all and little food to eat. The only lunch and breakfast I ate is at school in the morning and lunch only. Came home with empty stomach over night and wait till the next day back to school. People do not understand how orphans kids suffer before they become one. Thanks God I survived. Every time I watch this young man sang it always remind me to stand strong and be yourself, love yourself and think positive and thrive for the success you dream to achieve in life. People will push you down, but God will always raise you up no matter what people think of you. Dream big and never ever give up! God is good and awesome!

Sad thing is He died without having his mother claim his body he was 25 days in the freezer until his former manager was able to give him funeral. People are cruel, even your own flesh and blood so we should be careful not to make mistake. I hope he RIP.
@jchic32 Nobody could be as horrible as that and not be unhappy. Plus, you attract people as horrid as you are. I believe karma is 100% real in that sense, if you put negativity out into the world, how could some of that not come back to you? Whether it be in the form of guilt that haunts you when you better yourself, or you refuse to become a better person, and people treat you as you’ve treated them.

Because of the hard life he lives you can easily tell that he is not used to people being nice to him. Although grateful and happy he was a bit awkward for the attention he's getting from them. His story was very inspiring, makes me thankful for my life.
Yes indeed, a masterful vocalist... and to now find out, that he's on his deathbed , at such a young age, with such a wonderful voice- tells me that there is no God in this world. Because, everyday I get scold by my mother and feel pressured with the situation... looking at people like him make me think God want to poke me and say "Your Life isnt that hard compare to Him. I saw this video about 9 or 10 years ago! My heart hurt for his story, but I think all that life experience and pain went to his singing which made him unforgettable and amazing. Its a shame he is lost so soon at just 33. May he rest in peace and wish for his next life where he can have the adoring family he deserved and be happy!

When I am feeling at my lowest and at the point of giving up I always come here to let all my emotions out and Sung-Bong Choi kicks my selfish arse back into reality and Im uncontrollable as I release all my stress through tears of sadness. This incredible young man reminds me of Ian Curtis, the late singer of Joy Division. His story and performance brought many tears to my eyes. That lady totally crumbled. Right when you think he's done, he comes in after that bridge like a wrecking ball and give one of the most soulful performances in the history of mankind. I can honestly say I am one of the 6.5 billion people who enjoyed his singing ability. I sang in school, had lessons and more, yet he is a far better vocalist than I'll ever be. Even though I did not understand the language, I understood the emotion and passion he put into it. I hope he goes far.

Actually, there are lots of homeless people in Korea, even now. I fyou travel there and go to the subways, there are lots of people sleeping there.
I'm sure you will have more chance to see homeless people in subway station in New York than subway station in Seoul. The reason this story is so impressing Korean people is that above story is very rare case in Korea. There are lots of welfare organizations and also they are supported from government and donations.

Sad thing is He died without having his mother claim his body he was 25 days in the freezer until his former manager was able to give him funeral. People are cruel, even your own flesh and blood so we should be careful not to make mistake. I hope he RIP.
So beyond heartbreaking he was also left alone, in a freezer, rejected again by his mother. He was a true gift to this world with his angelic voice.
His mother will see Karma come to her...She is obviously or horrid person and he was better off without her..
@jchic32 Nobody could be as horrible as that and not be unhappy. Plus, you attract people as horrid as you are. I believe karma is 100% real in that sense, if you put negativity out into the world, how could some of that not come back to you? Whether it be in the form of guilt that haunts you when you better yourself, or you refuse to become a better person, and people treat you as you’ve treated them.

He maintained his dignity and humility. He persevered. That is enough to inspire me. Young people should ASPIRE to be like him.

I saw this video about 9 or 10 years ago! My heart hurt for his story, but I think all that life experience and pain went to his singing which made him unforgettable and amazing. He had a hard life. I wish he could've gotten the care he needed without judgement. No one will adjust so easily after so many years of living on survival. Especially hard on such a culture. Rest in peace brother.

@@eileenesposito6726 Apparently the cancer story was fabricated by him to raise money he needed for the production of a new record. Once this came to light, the whole story of living in the streets when a child was questioned too. He realized he has damaged his reputation beyond repair. 😔
And young westerners "think" they have it tough. This young man is an inspiration to every living human being today. Even at the very lowest point of his life, he never gave up - i'm sure there were times where he may have wanted to give up, but he pressed on. What a wonderful human being.
This incredible young man reminds me of Ian Curtis, the late singer of Joy Division. His story and performance brought many tears to my eyes. That lady totally crumbled. Right when you think he's done, he comes in after that bridge like a wrecking ball and give one of the most soulful performances in the history of mankind. Korean people certainly don't live their lives making excuses. Even at the very bottom as many have been, they give it all to get to the top. I can watch this 100 times and then watch it again 100 times more

I can honestly say I am one of the 6.5 billion people who enjoyed his singing ability. I sang in school, had lessons and more, yet he is a far better vocalist than I'll ever be. Even though I did not understand the language, I understood the emotion and passion he put into it. I hope he goes far.
