The fritzell joke he's referring to is a guy who held his child captive for 18 years or something and also fathered her children. He held her captive in a dungeon he built in the basement without his wife even knowing. Apparently.

@billybob4274 Nope. Americans don't understand comedy unless it's a stupid fart joke or something like Seinfeld. Americans comedy lacks subtlety and an understanding of irony.
The best bit was when he said he was going to a hospice for dying teenagers: Stops the video. "I give him a lot of credit for going,.." Wait until the end of the joke before deciding if credit is due!
The difference is some people know the boundaries of political correctness and don't take it to extremes and understand comedy, whilst others who don't understand the flexibility of comedy need their balloon of pomposity popped at every opportunity.
I honestly think most people don't get overly offended, it's just that the ones who do are the most vocal. Very few people I run into in person are like that. Then again, I live near Boston and we are known for our idgaf attitudes lol
Political correctness is a Soviet idea. It was a term used to describe people who were saying things that everyone knew to be false, but were the “right thing to say politically”. If you were not being PC, you were sent to the gulag. No one should support this anti human position. Do not confuse being PC with being kind. They are not the same thing. Speak the truth, not what is expected for you to say. Loved the video.
Of course it is, but don't get mad that its offensive when both the title and intro tell you its offensive. That's like stabbing yourself intentionally and then trying to sue the knife company 😄
Jimmy Carr is relatively mild in comparison to Frankie Boyle who is very funny and a lot darker than Jimmy Carr I have seen someone recommending Roy Chubby Brown , do not bother with him he has never been funny just obnoxious The League of Gentlemen are also worth a look More family friendly but still very funny is Peter Kay
We have all got to realise this an act. In my opinion we should be able to laugh at what's funny. Jimmy is funny. If you're watching TV and you don't like it turn it off. If you're gonna be offended by a comedian don't go. Please react to Chubby Brown, another genius.

Jimmy is hilarious and his delivery is well done. He isn’t as dark as Jeselnik though. Anthony Jeselnik is a bit darker and has a darker delivery. I think everything should be open for comedians because when they’re on stage you know it’s a joke so if you’re offended knowing it was a meant as a joke it’s on you. I don’t think certain dark humor jokes are funny but I would never take offense to anything. I for the life of me can’t understand how someone is actually willing to let another person’s humor affect their mood. Walk away or don’t laugh and hope it gets better but by voicing the unpleasant feelings it’s opening you up for worse jokes to get a rise. 🤷♂️🤦♂️
I think we also have these kinds of comedians but they don't get recognized because our culture is too full of Karens and Chads for them to succeed here.

Very well explained mate. Let's be real though, she definitely knew.
The reason he gets away with these types of jokes, is that he keeps reminding everyone that they are just that, Jokes!
Frankie Boyle: "Do you think he's joking? That comedian, up there on that comedy stage, at this comedy event for jokes...Do you think he's joking?!"

Jimmy Carr is a master at dealing with hecklers.
His joke about him having similar views as Starbucks refers to tax avoidance, a scheme Jimmy had used

"Okay Google. WHAT did Gary Glitter?"
Gary Glitter had a lot of groupies who, let's put it this way, were not old enough to drive.
But they sure knew how to ride
Glitter's favourite road sign was "humps for 1 mile".
He like all the other British comedians get away with it in the UK, cause we love dark humour and got very thick skins
