The Queensland government will be discontinuing the Commonwealth Bank's Dollarmites program from it’s schools after the contract ends in July.
The school program has been around for nearly 90 years and was first instituted when the bank was still government-owned and operated in 1931.
Spotify is launching paid podcasts as it continues to go all in into the podcast space.
This new feature will be facilitated through Anchor, a podcast creation tool that Spotify purchased back in 2019 for reportedly $140 million USD.
Podcasters will be able to make specific episodes available for their paid subscribers. The service was initially trialed with a dozen independent creators, and is now expanding to those who had previously signed for the waitlist. The rollout will be limited to the US market initially and there will be three monthly pricing options: $2.99, $4.99, or $7.99 USD.
Japanese beverage titan Asahi has bought Melbourne based coffee company Allpress Espresso for an undisclosed amount.
The coffee brand was founded by Michael Allpress and started as a single coffee roastery in New Zealand in 1989 before crossing the ditch to Australia in 2000. Today the business has gone global with operations in the UK, Japan and Singapore.
In this week’s crypto corner, a South Korean-Japanese video game publisher said it made a $100 million purchase of Bitcoin.
To be specific, Nexon purchased 1,717 bitcoins at an average price of around $58,226, including fees and expenses. The purchase represents less than 2% of Nexon's total cash and cash equivalents on hand.
