Hello Sanjee, Question for you from myself and my mate Damo. In your opinion for investments at $10,000, $100,000 and $1,00,0000 What would be the best opportunity going forward; 100% in term deposit OR A diversified portfolio in ETF's, the 5 major asset classes (1. Shares (Australia-VAS/international-VGS-IVV-VAE-VEQ), 2. Bonds-VIF, 3. Property-VAP, 4. Gold-PMGOLD, 5. Cash(term deposit/interest account) Roughly equal share
What in your opinion is the best ethical funds to invest in? I see Vanguard's ethical option still invests in mining and big banks which to me isn't ethical at all?! I don't have much investing knowledge but want to invest in something that let's me sleep easy at night.
Dont forget as far as international exposure a lot of these large corporations are multinationals. You get that diversification in your portfolio that way.
Hi Nicholas - I'm aware of the Vanguard Personal investor but haven't looked at it in detail. It seems the biggest advantage is in getting free brokerage purchases for Vanguard ETFs. But I believe Selfwealth themselves has a lower overall brokerage fee. It probably comes down to whether you're happy to stay in the Vanguard eco system and their products vs keeping your options open.
Hi there great video Sanjee. Very informative. . In terms of index vs etf. I know the 2 etf u talked about have their equivalent index funds. Is there a tax effieicnecy with etf compared to index fund. It would be good to see an example of how the tax is different between etf and index funds over time.
Hi mate, thanks for explaining that. Makes a lot more sense now. I have a couple of questions though? Would I buy the shares through the platform I normally buy them from (SelfWealth)? How are the returns paid? Is it through dividend reinvestment? And how are the fees charged? Are they taken out of the returns or are you billed? Thanks mate
Hi Sanjay, I’m just starting to understand the Australian Stock Market. Can you clarify if VAS and VAG are just like any other company that is in the stock exchange that I could trade (buy and sell) as an when I like.
Hi Sanjee, can you advice on following we have VAS,VGS & VHY as ETF and as well as managed funds from Vanguard can you compare them and speak about what case would be ideal for what king of person. My initial thoughts were if we just wanted to buy These ETF's regularly for long term with buy and hold strategy isn't it better to do vanguard managed fund as there is no fee for buying or selling. Can you Please make a video on this.
G'day Sanjee, Thanks for all your videos. They are amazing. My financial and investing literacy is growing. Is it possible that an organisation like Vanguard could go out of business? Or that such an organisation could do shifty things with investment funds they receive? I've just read an article where Vanguard were ordered to pay millions to mutual fund investors for failing to advise them about tax obligations. Could you do a video covering such topics? Cheers, Justin.
Hey Sanjee, Good to see some insight into Vanguard from a local perspective! I was hoping to see if you had any information with regards to REITs that Vanguard offers in the Australian market?
Hi Sanjee, these video are really great. Do you have any recommendations of any other investment management funds outside of Vanguard? I was reading some information about 'Ark Investments'. It would be great to know your thoughts as I'm just starting now to take the leap in investing in shares. Both in Aus and overseas.
Hi Andrew yeah you've hit it on the head. I definitely think I need to do this as there have been a few questions. Between this and GME will probably be my future videos haha.
Hey Sanjee, just found your channel. I would like your thoughts on NDQ and yes I'd like to see a video on how to balance your portfolio pls :) def liking this channel!
Hi Sugardumpling, glad you found it useful. Your actually like the 3rd or 4th person who has brought up NDQ. I think i'll have to do a specific video for it at some point. Yep will certainly do one on how I mange my portfolio too.
Hey Sanjee, Thanks for the video mate. I'm looking for a vanguard 'Index fund' but all I can find is ETF. My understanding is that they are similar but not exactly the same products. Can you please help me find the 'index fund'?
Great insight, Sanjee. Thank you! A couple of questions, which you could probably cover in a video. With DCA in ETFs, how do you build and maintain an investment strategy, for example, 80% growth and 20% defensive when you invest $500 p/m? Do you simply buy growth ETFs some months and defensive ETFs in other months until you have that 80/20 split? Then it's a matter of maintaining or even readjusting?
Hey Simon, great question - certainly will add this to the list. But for now: yeah if I were in this situation I'd wait till I had large parcels to buy at a time so I didn't loose too much on brokerage (transaction costs). There is no need to start with the 80/20 split straight away. You can progressively build it up. Also be aware...sometimes without planning for it your growth stocks might "grow" faster than you expect resulting in your split changing to 95/5 possibly...so you might have to spend a few months building up the defensive positions a bit. Like you said...maintaining and readjusting. I rarely sell to readjust - I always buy "more of the other stuff" to dilute the position of the thing that's become too big. Hope that helps - but will do a video on it too :)
Thanks Sanjee for another quality video... What is you opinion of going for an ETF like VDHG which encompasses VAS, VGS amongst other holdings? Auto-rebalancing..etc
Hi Jake - you're on to it mate. I was wondering who would be first to bring this up haha. You're absolutely right, VDHG is actually a great ETF to have which basically captures everything including some currency hedging as well. The reason I'm not using it is because it still carries some fixed interest holdings and emerging market holdings which I'm not keen on (purely personal) because I'm managing my downside and upside risk through other things. I'm not happy with the lack of diversification the emerging market holding has too. But in reality it accounts for a small portion of the actual holding. All that being said VDHG is probably a really good baseline ETF to have to start with and then people can play around with their exposures by buying other ETFs as well. You've just given me a great idea for a video though "Set and forget ETFs" because this is probably a good example of that. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
@@SanjeeSen yes it's definitely a very set and forget ETF, I look forward to that video! Keep up the awesome work, I'm glad I came across your channel!

Hi Japper, yes that's also an option. It's a little diluted for my liking with the fixed income assets. It honestly seems more like a superannuation product. It's great so as a set and forget option it seems. Low fees as well. Might look at it in a future video on these composite ETFs. I drip feed into my ETFs. Hope that helps. Great questions.
Can't wait for your analysis on VDHG. It has a higher MER but seems high growth oriented and self-rebalancing which might offset the fee. But I would want to see your inputs on it and why. So excited.
Hey Sanjee - thanks for all your videos they've been fantastic. As others have mentioned would love a video on portfolios i.e. how many ETFs should ideally be in a portfolio? 2, 3, 4 or more? Or would you suggest just VAS, VGS, and maybe another international ETF as VGS is US-heavy as you mentioned. Thanks

Sanjee, some good advices you have here. Thank you. But could you please tell me why it should be important to me that some ETFs have a low maintainance and low fees (if I own their shares via lets say Commsec or SelfWealth)? Am I paying any anual taxes because I own their shares, any management fees?
Hi Rosie! Yes will certainly do a video on regarding rebalancing. I certainly lean towards just buying more of other things rather than selling any of my positions. Will add it to the list.

Hello Sanjee,
Question for you from myself and my mate Damo.
In your opinion for investments at $10,000, $100,000 and $1,00,0000
What would be the best opportunity going forward;
100% in term deposit
OR
A diversified portfolio in ETF's, the 5 major asset classes
(1. Shares (Australia-VAS/international-VGS-IVV-VAE-VEQ),
2. Bonds-VIF,
3. Property-VAP,
4. Gold-PMGOLD,
5. Cash(term deposit/interest account)
Roughly equal share
And a lamans explanation of the difference between ETF's and managed funds from a bank
What in your opinion is the best ethical funds to invest in? I see Vanguard's ethical option still invests in mining and big banks which to me isn't ethical at all?! I don't have much investing knowledge but want to invest in something that let's me sleep easy at night.
Thanks mate! Great vids.
Dont forget as far as international exposure a lot of these large corporations are multinationals. You get that diversification in your portfolio that way.
Thanks Travis! Yes very true, great call out.
Hi Sanjee, thanks for the videos! Just wondering your thoughts on Vanguard Personal investor vs buying the etf's through a broker such as selfwealth?
Hi Nicholas - I'm aware of the Vanguard Personal investor but haven't looked at it in detail. It seems the biggest advantage is in getting free brokerage purchases for Vanguard ETFs. But I believe Selfwealth themselves has a lower overall brokerage fee. It probably comes down to whether you're happy to stay in the Vanguard eco system and their products vs keeping your options open.
hi mate, all my ETF is in VAS, do u suggest to start buying VGS as well?
Can you recommend your top 5 etfs in the current market? As they appear to have peaked.
Hi there great video Sanjee. Very informative. . In terms of index vs etf. I know the 2 etf u talked about have their equivalent index funds. Is there a tax effieicnecy with etf compared to index fund. It would be good to see an example of how the tax is different between etf and index funds over time.
Hey good advice, I just recently jumped into the stock market, bought VAS will look into VGS . Cheers
Awesome to hear tharr67 - yep also consider VGAD if you're concerned about currency fluctuations.
Sanjee Sen great thanks for the tip
Hi mate, thanks for explaining that. Makes a lot more sense now. I have a couple of questions though? Would I buy the shares through the platform I normally buy them from (SelfWealth)? How are the returns paid? Is it through dividend reinvestment? And how are the fees charged? Are they taken out of the returns or are you billed? Thanks mate
I dont usually comment, but this a great video and great public speaking. Thanks for the content!
also, do you think its possible to make a competitive portfolio with Vanguard ETFs only? I'm considering twitching to Vanguard personal advisor.
Thanks Jonathan! Oh that's an interesting topic. Will add it to the list.
G'day Sanjee,
Thanks for all your videos.
Cheers,
Justin.
Hi Sanjeen, just want to know how many ETFshould I invest in commpocket?
Hey Sanjee,
Good to see some insight into Vanguard from a local perspective! I was hoping to see if you had any information with regards to REITs that Vanguard offers in the Australian market?
LOVE YOUR VID!!
What do you think the FTSE Global All Cap Index Fund Accumulation is good choice for long term investment?
Thank you Sir
Would be good to see your thoughts on portfolio composition - Im sure others would too.
Hi thanks for your video. Just wondering any good broker you would recommend in AU?
Hi there, any of the big 4 banks is fine: CommSec, ANZ E trade, Westpac and Nabtrade. Also CMC and SelfWealth I've heard are fine.
Hey Sanjee, Thanks for the video mate. I'm looking for a vanguard 'Index fund' but all I can find is ETF. My understanding is that they are similar but not exactly the same products. Can you please help me find the 'index fund'?
Good one Sanjee...make a video on Etf investment platform that can be used now, with brokerage
No worries Soumi, I'll add it to the list.
They also do hedged ETFs now, either way I have no idea why you'd invest in an Australian shares index when the internationals perform better.
What do you think about Disney stock right now
Thanks Sanjee for another quality video...
Hi Sanjee, I'm glad to find your you tube channel. I am new to investment. I did bought vas & vgs. But after 2 months I invest 10 k only $ 9700 left. Its going backward. Why?
When are you going to start making more videos?
Does franking apply to ETFs, especially to VGS which is international?
Nice video , Love it Thank You So much
Glad you enjoyed it
Kindly make a content related portfolio composition please. This is very helpful actually. Thanks.
What about VDHG vanguard? Also when you put money in do you just leave it or do you drip feed it in?
Hi Japper, yes that's also an option. It's a little diluted for my liking with the fixed income assets. It honestly seems more like a superannuation product. It's great so as a set and forget option it seems. Low fees as well. Might look at it in a future video on these composite ETFs. I drip feed into my ETFs. Hope that helps. Great questions.
Can't wait for your analysis on VDHG. It has a higher MER but seems high growth oriented and self-rebalancing which might offset the fee. But I would want to see your inputs on it and why. So excited.
Hi. I'm looking specifically at ethical investments. Are there any reliable portfolio managers looking at these ETFs?
Hey Sanjee - thanks for all your videos they've been fantastic. As others have mentioned would love a video on portfolios i.e. how many ETFs should ideally be in a portfolio? 2, 3, 4 or more? Or would you suggest just VAS, VGS, and maybe another international ETF as VGS is US-heavy as you mentioned. Thanks
Love VAS and QUAL, NDQ, HACK, for growth, WDIV for dividends income.
That's a great line up you have there Patty. Just about to publish a video on NDQ too.
I just started investing and my strategy for my portfolio is VOO, VXF, VB, VHT and VGT. Any advice on this ? Thanks
Hi K P, great to hear you've started investing. I don't really give advice on portfolios. Those look like US listed ETFs which I'm not as familiar with too. But they look like Vanguard products so I'm sure they'll be fine.
Can you do video about how to buy an ETF from Vanguard ? Many thanks
Hey mate, i cant find VGS or VAS on vanguard? what am i missing? i have searched everywhere and nothing comes up
Yes it should be there. Look under Vanguard ETFs - Vanguard Australian Shares (VAS) and Vanguard international shares excluding Australia (VGS)
Bro you gotta do ASMR, voice is amazing!
Thanks Joshua! Might have to diversify into it soon haha
Sanjee, some good advices you have here. Thank you. But could you please tell me why it should be important to me that some ETFs have a low maintainance and low fees (if I own their shares via lets say Commsec or SelfWealth)? Am I paying any anual taxes because I own their shares, any management fees?
More info on rebalancing, when to do it, how often... 👍🏻
Hi Rosie! Yes will certainly do a video on regarding rebalancing. I certainly lean towards just buying more of other things rather than selling any of my positions. Will add it to the list.
Thank you! Look forward to it.
Hey Sanjee, have you made a video on portfolio composition yet? I would love to hear about how you structure your portfolio!
Great idea for a future video!
Hi Sanjee if I want to buy these ETFs through Commsec is that possible ? Commsec pocket does not seem to have this options.P
Hi Kris, yes absolutely you can buy them from CommSec or any of the normal brokers. Yeah CommSec pocket is more limited in their selection.
@@SanjeeSen Thanks for your reply if I want to buy S & P 500 can i buy that with commsec too ? or do you know if there are any particular broker that sell that ETF ? whats the ASX code for S & P 500 ?
Thanks in advance.
Hey Sanjee, thanks for the great video! Liked and subbed.
Hi Sitckers8! Thanks so much and welcome to the channel.
