Greetings bro'r Lobster, the CNZ is a feisty cool little electric bass guitar that has some weight to it. I'd wish these mini basses were available decades ago but it's never too late, glad we're still around to see it happen. I agree with you on those really cute mini open tuner machine heads. I'm looking forward to your next review on this CNZ mini Jazz bass, cheers!

Very interested in your full review! My sub-5 year old has been interested in basses, and this might be a decent starter. Especially for the price point and obvious potential damaging. 👍🏻

I converted my 3 color burst into a Mini Jaco Pastorius JB by pulling the Frets out, filling in the slots with wood filler, applying super glue to the fretboard, sanding it with a 10" radius sanding block and with a fret leveler. Installed some chrome dome knobs I had laying around, sanded the nut down until the string height at the nut was just the right height for my taste, adjusted the truss rod and saddles until the intonation was JUUUST right and know I'm in love with this little bass.

Dude, thanks! I ask you a few months ago if you can do a review on this bass! I got one in surf green and I love it. I've only been playing for a year and I've never played a "premium" bass before so I have nothing to compare it to. But I am a woodworker and was impressed with the build quality. Everything was straight, there was no scuffs or chips, and weirdly enough, it came intonated and mostly in tune lol. The bridge was like a half mm to the right and I had to fix the action. I'm doing a Wilkinson mod on it. I gotta hi mass bridge and pickups(alnico 5s) and I copper taped the cavities.

  • @book3100

I bought the full size five string, same colour.
Fit up could be better, the nut isn't great, but I'm happy with mine.
For the price, it's outstanding imo.
Once I set it up, plays well and sounds decent with stock pickups.
Neck dive on the full size is manageable. It wants to dive, but it stays ok. The neck pocket isn't great, but fixable.

Very cool little bass. Wondering how the fret ends are now, and how they are in 6 months. Seems like a lot of cheaper basses use wet wood for the necks, if that doesn't encounter a lot of shrinkage I'll be impressed. I got a Chinese made stringray 34 clone and the neck seems to be shrinking and moving around some (as expected for the price).

I've had a fretted J&D mini bass for at least 2 years and had no problems with fret sprout, though I did file/round them when I got the bass. They weren't bad at all, but I like doing the foam sand block trick to round them off.

Why ridiculous? I think the color looks great. The pickguard has a nice creamy shade of white as opposed to the hideous blue white used on cheapies. And rosewood!

Nice review! I have two of the J&D mini jazz basses from DV247 (which I believe are pretty much the same bass) and I love these things as mod platforms! I still have the original pickups 'cos they sound fine to me, I get compliments for tone and they seem to cut through nicely, and I converted one to fretless by adding an ebony fingerboard (which improved my luthier skills!) and that's one of my favourite basses! These things really are so much fun, really easy to play, and so cheap for modding its crazy. I did add Hipshot brass bridges which balance them out nicely. Looking forward to seeing what mods you do to them @LowEndLobster!!!
