I legit just bought this EXACT (well A4 version) one 4 minutes ago. Then, I went on yt, just searched thermal printers for printing documents, and this video is the first I saw. Nice! Can't wait to try mine when it arrives next week.
@@investigator6203 i was surprised how well it works. Love it! I wish I could print on both sides, but it has been useful in printing stuff for my classes. I plan to use it to print things for my art students this summer.
Couple of things worthy of note, on Amazon they only seem to offer A4 version in the UK. I wanted this for Tattoo stencils and the A4 version is pretty pointless as most of the high end stencil papers are 8.5 wide US letter so won’t feed into the smaller feed entry of the printer. Also the App is pretty useless for resizing so you need to use a pc or Mac tethered to the USB cable so you can sent resized images to it directly . It also is a bit hit and miss with thermal stencil paper as I do have a few A4 cheap thermal stencil sheets and it will drag them around the feed roller unless you help them through by applying some pull tension on the paper as it feeds through . This isn’t really a reliable replaceable for a brother pocket jet if your thinking it might be.
@@SOLATEK369 In the end i went with a brother pocket jet PJ-863 , expensive but worth it. You can find the 7 series ones for reasonable money second hand and they are pretty indestructible
@@SOLATEK369 see if you can find the US letter version . It’s either that or one of the cheaper generic therma fax type printers that every man and his dog produces . Needs to be open sourced and connect as a standard serial printer so you can use any software you want or even no software at all since most computers have printing function built into the operating system.
The app works with my Pixel 7 Pro but my Windows version 11 the driver doesn't work after I install it. Shows the driver as being unavailable. Other than that this printer works just fine, the quality is pretty good. It's hard to believe that by now they don't have an updated driver for Windows 11.
This is awesome. It’s easy, quick and the quality is amazing. I’ve had mine over a year and I can’t do without it. It’s so easy to charge and the paper is easy to get Xx
how to choose the size of the printed photo? is it arbitrary or can you print fragments sequentially so that the final printout is of a larger scale? on the film you can see the sizes when you click on the screen .. when you try to change the size with your fingers it does not work. It seems like there are only two options...
Thermal printers have always been fine. There's no improvements and never needed to be. It's a cool part of early comouter history and refrigerator sized "micro computers" just as dot matrix printers were. These are fun to do program and code dumps with to hardcopy the data on your atari system.
I’m happy with my printer, I have it set to heavy print as the image shows up better. My only issue is that the paper wants to slide off to the left, I haven’t figured out how to prevent that. It happens when I’m printing more than 3 pages.
Yes they would. There are other models that use a ribbon (P831 is one). This lasts a lot longer but you have to replace the ribbon. The advantage is that you can use normal printing paper for these, however, replacing the ribbon actually works out more expensive per print than thermal paper. If portability and size is your main requirement and you aren't using too often, it may be a good option.
Having issues printing. It goes through but nothing is printed. any tips on what it could be?? it says it supports a4 paper only maybe that’s the issue. Not sure. Any help. Would appreciate it.
Yes you need thermal paper. And the version can be different, one prints A4 and the other uses Letter, so make sure you choose the right model for the type of paper you want to print.
I cannot see the print of the instructions as I am blind as a bat even with my glasses sometimes. I need to know how long it takes to charge it? I thank you in advance.
They are about $100 on Temu and like $130 on Amazon. I have one. It might be cheaper to get a $50-100 hp printer with instant ink, though, fyi, as the paper is about 20 cents per print one-sided only. It is worth it for portability and for students, imo, though.
@user-ww9yw4zi8m I did the math. To summarize, for a cheap inkjet, the price comes out to 2.4 cents per page on average, and the thermal printer is a whopping 14 cents a page! The life span of these printers is only 3 to 4 years. NOT a good deal!!!! Find the best budget inkjet ink, and then buy the printer that fits the ink. That way, you know you're getting a good deal.
Any 8.5x11 thermal paper works. It is about $20 for 200 sheets on Amazon. But don't go smaller (assuming you have the letter size. It doesn't print smaller sheets than what it comes for.
It's not about cutting cost. When you're on the go, do you really want to be dealing with the mess of inkjet cartridges? What I want is something that is portable and solid-state as possible. The fewer moving parts, the better. The only thing that moves with a device such as this is the paper and whatever drives the paper through the device.
Let's not dwell on your anti-British sentiment. Rather, let's focus on the content and move forward with a positive attitude. Any more questions about 'fermal' paper?
