  • Disclaimer This is a first video posted to TH-cam with a repair of the such by me, so bear with the poor video editing and quality. I realize and acknowledge there is much better methods to video and produce this type of content. Maybe one day I will turn it into more than just a hobby. I have repaired a few electronics over the last couple of years and this video is really just to document the theory that you can repair a LG TV that is stuck on the logo screen by baking the board in the oven. I wanted to put the theory to the test just to see if it did work, and document the process.

    Hello! I have an LG 47Lm7600 and I have a problem with startup, I recently tried to make some changes to the menu, and when I gave it accept the screen it became totally dark without being able to access the menu and do a factory reset. If someone can help me with the commands to reset the TV as a factory, it would be of great help to me!

      Not sure if it will work, but you should be able to hold down the power button for 5-10 seconds to reset the TV. If you can shine a flashlight and see a "ghosted" looking picture, it could be the backlights or a board. If you have a screen/picture you could try to go into the general settings, find the reset option, agree to the warning message, and press “confirm.” (Note: For some LG TVs, you may need to input a password to complete the factory reset process.) Hope this helps. Good luck.

      sounds like backlights to me. easy fix if you have the time.

    Is it still working or did you have to replace the board?

    • @fullerruns
      @fullerruns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The board has to be replaced. I have not gotten around to replacing it yet, but the "reflow" of the board did not last. The TV was functional after this for a little while, but definitely not a permanent solution. That being said, I didn't expect it to be. Still interesting that it "fixed" it, even if only temporarily.

      So Tom... I said the TV wasn't working.... However a year later, I pulled it back out and was curious... Surprisingly when I plugged it in, it still works. Went through several minutes of changing settings and testing inputs and all seemed to still work. Who knows. Now I am curious just how long it might make it before needing to actually be replaced.

    Very silly! You need a TV technician to solve the electronic problem. Your method may have reflowed some of the solder joints but you have probably aged and dried out the components like capacitors and so you're in for a series of problems. Good luck!

    • @fullerruns
      @fullerruns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your care and concern. I fully understand the process that took place, the risks involved, and the need for a TV technician. I happen to be friends with a few. As a hobby DIYer, I like to research, experiment, and learn. My apologies, I thought I said that I would pick up another board and that this was in fact just to see if baking the board would actually make it work again. Maybe I need to go watch it again. It’s been a little while. The TV is still working by the way.

      @@fullerruns ok but I still think it’s a crazy thing to do to electronic equipment. I would keep an eye on the electrolytics and check the voltage rails. Crazy man.

      I would think Samsung would be similar to LG. If you had a TV that exhibited the same issues and you are near the point of tossing, I wouldn't toss, before at least trying the Bake the Motherboard Method. :) I know it sounds crazy, but mine is still working 1 year later.
