One way I've seen to fix a nut like that is to weld the nut on to a large "penny" washer, then you would cut a large hole in the bumper big enough to fit the washer and weld it in and grind flush. Graham
Two questions, how did you start out building your workshop? And why do you love British sports cars? You seem to have a very nice collection of Mini, Lotus, Land Rover's and TVR’s.
Thanks for the questions: How did I start, well 25 years ago and little bit by little bit. Buying tools when possible and affordable. Often auctions. I am an Anglophil as they say , IMO UK early cars have that spirit and character that appeals to me... They fail often, yet are simple to repair.
Thanks for the comments, yes I know and it is coming soon ... blasting the chassis . But first I needed to get the easier cars done as we want to drive them this spring and summer
Thanks for the comments, indeed... I have to say that shop owner did tell me that it might need small adjustments . But this is not a small offset.... but can be fixed.
Just a quick thought with the offset on the new bumper of that one hole. Because they end up to high, can"t you swap left and right so they end lower? Of course, i just saw the video and did not hold the pieces for a close look. I'm sure you checked it :). Another lovely video.
A good choice with the stainless steel bumpers! But why do they make an excellent product that cannot be fitted without heavy modification ? I think your best method with the tapped bush would be a rivnut once you establish the correct position just crimp in a rivnut and it will line up correctly, but the manufacturers need to be told about this . Chris B.
That is planned for later this spring summer, as they have more work then the other cars. So those come first as I want to drive them. Which does not mean I forgot Old rusty
@@D3Sshooter Als je de gelegenheid hebt probeer dan n's acryl. Dit spuit veel makkelijker en is ook heel geschikt om kleine krasjes en haarscheurtjes op te vullen.
Not sure about the primer you used but you do need to be careful about putting water on porous coatings prior to painting as it can lead to moisture being trapped & microblisters in the final finish. Ideally use panel wipe rather than thinners before painting too as thinners can attack the existing finish & any filler/stopper. Something for others to be aware of.
Loving this TVR restoration, many thanks for the videos.
Glad you enjoy it!
The rust on those bumpers looks like a nightmare. Love your car videos!
Thanks for the comments, ,yes indeed. Water gets trapped
I'm not surprised you picked the shiny bumpers. You have an eye for quality details. It's the little things. Nicely done.
No rubber baby buggy bumpers.......😆
Thanks for the comments,
@@notajp hahahaha bay buggy bumpers
Nice choice with a stainless steel Bumper. Cheers 👍
Glad you like it
Stainless steel is awesome. Good choice!
Thanks for the comments,
Another challenge. No problem to you. Great work so far.
Thanks for the comments, yes indeed ... working on old cars with none original parts is often a challenge ... but also a lot of the fun
May I come observe? You are so informative!
sure
@@D3Sshooter you should do a fanclubday with a bbq this summer 😂👍
Amazing how many parts need adapting to make them fit! No problem for you with all your equipment!
Thanks for the comments, indeed and that is all the fun
Great bumpers nice video
Glad you like them!
Another good video, and good choice on those bumpers, thank you.
Thanks for the comments,

Bedankt Mike, ja we doen wat vanalles
For those wondering: the 1k putty if used in larger amounts will cause shrink back on the paint
Yes indeed ,and that is why use it for small.very small area's like tiny scratches

Thanks for the comments, that indeed one option that `I was considering, I am going to do something simular

Excellent! And "old rusty" ? When will it be finish? It's the most génial you have!
Thanks for the comments, yes I know and it is coming soon ... blasting the chassis . But first I needed to get the easier cars done as we want to drive them this spring and summer
Unless some TVRs have holes offset it is amazing they could make such a mistake, but have seen similar errors on TR6 new parts.

Thanks for the comments, that does not work as there different roundings on the bumpers

Thanks, yep a rivnut would be another option. It beats me why they did not make the bumpers correct.
Quite surprised how well the yellow covered, sometimes yellow can be quite poor to cover over a dark base, generally base is white.
Indeed, yet this paint covers well and a couple of coats help
When will you finish old rusty? and when you start on the Peugeot?
That is planned for later this spring summer, as they have more work then the other cars. So those come first as I want to drive them. Which does not mean I forgot Old rusty
Schitterend werkje. Btw, is de verf syntetisch of acryl ?
Dank je , 2K syntetisch

Interior light still on with the door removed! Careful you don't end up with a melted interior light lens & a flat battery!
Thanks, yes I could have taped the switch.. but turned the disconnect switch later

The primer is high build primer , also the door panel was in the booth for about 3 hours at 35 degrees before been sprayed

Brilliant video Steve can you not elongate the holes in the back of the bumper so it can give you more adjustments alignment
That is another option , although the issue is that it has a nut welded in the back
i'd be pretty annoyed if i spent that much on a product only for it not to fit.
