The microphone Angelina uses is a Neumann TLM 102. It's supposed to be very good. Other reactors have commented how well this mic has been able to show all the nuances in her voice. So if the sound is not right the reason must be something else. I know Angelina used to be mixing her cover videos herself. However for some of them she hired professional musicians for the arrangements and you hear that immediately. On the other hand I feel that some of the charm of some Angelina covers is that they are made at home with simple tools. She always sounds great whether she is at home or performing with a professional orchestra like at the Quincy Jones 85th year birthday show at O2 in London

Death is unfortunately a sudden interruption of the show, this is IMO, who wants to communicate the abrupt end of the recording, with an incredible understanding of the facts of life, unreal for a girl of that age. I would recommend checking out some of her more stripped back stuff where it is just her and a guitarist... you can really hear the delicate details in her voice with that setup. I must have watched many hundred reactions of Angelina with that Neumann TLM 102 mike, but have never heard anyone complaining about it. Great reaction. Such a heartfelt cover. Bittersweet. This is one of my favorites from Angelina. The mic didn’t bother me at all, I didn’t get any negative audio from it at all..... proof was at the end when she belted and then carried out that note...like forever. It sounded awesome. This is all coming from her home and it isn’t a fancy studio I know. Some of the live performances don’t do her any favors but some are really good too. There really is just a variety of conditions that these “covers” are taken from...some good, some not so much. The great thing is that we all can watch this future legend from a very young age thru all of her development over the period of years as she and her voice mature. We can enjoy her in different situations and really learn all about her. It really is exciting and it is a gift. How many “legends” do we actually have the opportunity to join their journey from the very beginning...in real time?

To use an analogy you would appreciate... you "may" remember Wayne Gretzky. Unarguably THE GOAT hockey player. When he was 10, he scored 378 goals and 139 assists in 80 games! Watching Miss Angelina grow and develop over the years, to me, would be like watching Gretzky at the same ages. At only 14 I believe she is already the GOAT performer, I can't wait to see what comes over the coming decades. As for recommendations, here are a few, in order (that you haven't seen thus far) that I feel really showcase how her prodigal talents evolved. "Gloomy Sunday" from '14 Norway's Got Talent (the one that started it all) "Summertime" also from NGT. It's her winning performance. "Feeling Good" (the TV stage performance) Her cover of Adele's "A million years ago", and 2 of her own compositions, "What is Life" (the acoustic version) and finally "Shield" (the live TV performance) And of course, the 100+ more that are out there!

I'm am definitely not a critic . This was absolutely perfect to me. Actually preferred this over the original. Not to take anything from them, it's just my personal preference. I listened to the original a couple times and I was done. Her version I have probably listened to it a hundred times or more. She has me listening to a lot of songs over and over that I thought once was enough.
Thank you for keeping it honest. I agree completely. Angelina Jordan sings beautifully, but while the mike is a great one, there is some odd reverb effect - it could be just the room itself - that makes her voice sound a bit «boxed in» here. I have never heard that on any of her other tracks, and many of her home recordings sound absolutely wonderful. So it has nothing to do with her, this is simply not the best recording from a technical standpoint. Sometimes that does not matter much, but here it clashes with the «karaoke» soundtrack. At least for me. If others feel different, that’s just fine!
I am an older fan of Angelina and have been for a couple of years. But, I am a little disappointed by your critical remarks regarding the quality of her recording, including the mic (which is of good quality). You are (IMHO) overlooking the quality of the performance in many other respects. The most important part of Angelina’s interpretation have to do with emotional content and her expression of it. So I remain ambivalent toward your reaction. Your attempt to compare singers has little merit...every artist has their interpretation...it is not relevant except as it reflects your own opinion...

Svetlana Makarova I don’t like Dimash’s version. He changed it too much to show off “HIS voice” taking away from the whole feeling and meaning of the song itself. When this song was written and perforformed the MEANING OF IT WAS POWERFUL ENOUGH TO STAND ON IT’S OWN without the the vocal gymnastics that Dimash used. A person can have the best voice in the world AND still not be the best interpreter of music, which, with this song, is the case. His bouncing around in octaves distracted from the natural progression of the song’s tragic message and story.
