One time I had a nearly perfect murloc build with golden warleader, a brann, and most of my team 21/18 on tavern 4. I was against the person in last place and they had a trash build. Turn 1 they killed my warleader bringing my team to 17/18, then their 20 attack and pathetic HP card sniped my best offensive card and then their poisonous hit my tankiest card. I died.

I was wondering why Maiev's supposed to be bad, I thought that hero power looked pretty dope. But I didn't know the dormant minions blocked spots for the re-rolls... I feel like that would be an easy buff - if they ever decide to buff her.

For sure. The issue isn't really that you have to wait, it's just that while you wait your rolls are god-awful. If they put the minion in its own slot, she would be a fairly decent hero imo.
I think it could also be buffed to +2/+2. +1/+1 isn't enough to make your low tier unit relevant two turns later.

I think it should be imprisoned for X rerolls instead. That way you can up the timetable by rolling.
Make it cost 2 and make it dormant for 1 turn, get rid of the buff
I think it would be interesting if you could use it on a minion before a battle kinda like Lich King with reborn, then it's dormant for two attacks making sure that minion can't get sniped right from the start or use it on a minion next to a taunt to play around cleave.

Then you haven't seen many strong builds. I mean there've been stronger builds on this channel alone.
@@lMarcusl if he had another triple kaboom bot he'd be perfect build. With perfect attack rng he'd probably beat murloc builds with 500 health total. But we can ignore that situation. Say in this case he gets kangors from snakes and attacks go perfectly. That's a lot of bombs. 43 if I'm not mistaken. At 28 damage each would beat even the 500 health battlemaster builds.
That's so weird, Rafaam has such a similar hero power and he's literally the nr1 hero in the game!

So, I counted how many minions appear in the last battle.
Including the 14 initials (7 from Kripp and 7 from Rafaam), a total of 56 minions show up in the board at some point! The distribution was actually draw, with Kripp summoning 21 minions and Rafaam summoning anothers 21 minions!
But Kripp has more coming.

How about this:
"0 mana. Lock a minion in the tavern, every turn it stays locked it wins +1 +1" or
"1 mana. Buy a minion and gain +1 +1, it stays dormant in your hand for the next 2 turns"
Just give Maiev on extra spot for dormant minions only.

@@TheEmerse it would still take a place in your hand, but I think it's hard to full your hand before getting to tier 5, so dormant in hand is way better than loking a spot on bob's tavern

AAAHHHH... so much feel it when got the golden baron🤤
I find the best way to use her is to lock potential highroll doubles to go for highroll triples (Brann, Baron, etc, basically cards that are useless to have a pair but game winning to have a triple with). Can apply to cards like rover and herold as well if you are tight on board space. Another situation is if you find something like an early module with no mechs but your build is not trending towards anything.

Yeah, Maiev's power really stinks. It's weird that it would get into the game in its current state. It just lowers your options for 2 rounds, and the trade-off is a cheaper minion that may not even be relevant to your build once you get it. The extra +1/+1 is definitely not worth it.

Some ideas to change Maieve's hero power:
1. Costs 0
2. Minion is dormant for 1 turn
3. Minion gains +3/+3 instead of +1/+1
4. Minion gains +2/+2, doesn't take up a slot when refreshing
I've chosen Maieve almost every time I've been offered her (including when playing Finley), and I really want her to be good. The idea is awesome, but falls flat so hard
This is a great list of options, all of which seems to buff her nicely into mid range with a lil potential to be above average for a couple, but definitely not broken. Funnily enough, out of the 4, I like no.1 the best. It pushes harder into the "is it worth 2 turns of reroll dilemma" while making the "lure" stronger. Making it almost a noob-killer but quite decent for good players.
I think the best way to change this hero power is
> 2 cost: choose a minion, add it to your hand at the start of the next turn, it gains +1/+1.
This version could be as powerful as yogg's heropower due to lack of RNG but it doesn't provide immediate help in the same turn, so keeping the +1/+1 seems fair.
What does full board have to do with attacking?

Havnt had a chance to use her myself, but i imagined her hero power being used in the situation when freezing/rolling is up for debate. It allows you to lock the minion that you might want to freeze for, while still being able to roll the others. So you waste less gold. At least, thats the only time i can really see it being somewhat useful.
I personally see the key to winning with Maiev is to use the hero power on cards you'll need, but not right then. Don't use it for cards you desperately need that turn or next, use it on potential doubles and triples you don't have space for but want to have. For example, I was able to triple Brann cost effectively by using her power, as well as keeping it away from other players who want him. That allowed me to save my freezes and regular spending on minions that had better short term value.
This is similar to Savjz's "Does this make me a BOOMER???" video, but that build was insane, Savjz had golden Baron + 2 divine shielded golden Boombots + 2 Kangor's Apprentice

I had a game with Ysera. I went dragons, I was against 5 people who forced Murlocs. ( this is low levels folks ) I was taken down to 1 health early and the top 3 were murlocs all with high health. I somehow dug in my claws and hung on to win getting incredibly luck hits. That most of them didn't get a megasaur, and I got 2 of that champion that gives dragons divine shield in a clutch last match against the murloc hero who did get a megasaur... I'm still afraid to play because I used up all my luck for a month on that game.

Maiev is decent if you use her power to float doubles. If you have a minion on the board, and a double in the shop with 1 or 2 gold left, you can hero power the double and save gold if you didn't intend to play it soon anyways.

Yes, it does. Technically you save it to your tavern, meaning no one else can roll for it

Best advice for maive, use her hero power when you want to triple at higher tavern tier and to avoid freezing board when you want to keep one minion from the tavern.
Sounds good in theory but more often than not waiting 1 extra turn for tripling (or 2 extra turns, when you are able to sell some and buy immediately) still isn't worth it except if your frozen board is a tier below (upgraded tavern with that board). If it's a big key minion, you dump board and get it ASAP. If it's a side minion, but blocking your board, you still must get it next turn. Only in the case of a non-key minion with enough board space to float one would that be "potentially" worth it. You have to remember - you are not just delaying the minion by a turn. You are also delaying the tripling reward by a turn. If you are fishing for something a tier above. The wait is not worth it. Mostly what you said can only apply to mid game, but then the single refresh is not worth that much: Avoiding freeze, you get 3-5 refreshes you otherwise wouldn't have. If you have a dormant slot and re-roll 3-5 times, the benefit is negated and any extra roll is worse. This holds more true to late game when your board becomes hard to improve and at times spend a whole turn re-rolling. What you described can help new players do a lil better, yes. But Maive, without buffs, will never be able to reach average tier even if you avoid mistakes and utilize the power well.

If you play it 4 thousand times eventually you will. Just the law of averages.
To figure out if her hero power is worth it, just imagine how many shop slots you'd take up freezing the shop. If you think you'll roll as much as or more than that number in the next 2 turns, it's bad. If you think you'll roll less than the number of slots frozen, then it's quite nice actually. I think this means it's good to do it before level up rounds.
I think there are now 3 heroes where not using the hero power is better than using it:
Baz'hial
Maiev
Galakrond (although i must admit i have had a lot of fun and some success high rolling straight to 6 and hoping for a mama or kalegos)
The only time I find Maive hero power is useful when I play around Baron, Zapp, or Soul Juggler when every single point is crucial

I find that Maiev is really good for buying a double of a minion. Use the hero power on that second Hyena, and if you get a third that's an easy triple. Outside of that yeah it's terrible.
Or just buy the hyena?
In fact it's harder to get a triple like that because you lose minion per roll

I just play with her for the first time and get first place. I think the hero power is good for when you want to triple a card for its abillitys but have only one and no space for the second. You take the minion for only 1 gold and can keep going for other minions until u take the third one
Like when u get a second bran or baron. U save 2 gold for other things.

Some suggestions that people say (any one change):
Dormant doesn't take up a slot.
Dormant gives +2/+2.
Hero power costs (0).
I would personally love to see her as a disruptor hero. Keep it as it is, change it so that you get the minion at the end of your next turn (so you get that slot refreshed on your 2nd turn) and give an effect that makes any other copy of that minion cost 1 more gold to buy for any other hero. Bonus if it also costs 1 gold less for your hero if you come by another copy.
Turn one can now be a "dormant one copy and buy the other copy for 2 gold". Might be too complicated to be in the battleground or disruptive, but I do wish there were more ways to disrupt other players. Maybe a tavern 3 minion 0/12 that when it dies, gets destroyed and the opponent that killed it has two gold less to use next turn.
