Just discovered your channel. Thanks for the videos (especially the ones in the west). I've been to Kaweah but never Kings. Too old to kayak that stuff but I want to hike it at least, after cherry creek though. Didn't even know about cherry creek until I saw your amazing videos.
This run is one of the main reasons I want to be a class V boater. So many good runs right in my backyard. Dont think it will ever be with the limited time I can devote to kayaking. But maybe one day. Thats some of the fastest footage I've seen down this run. Epic. Was hoping you guys would hit this while you where over here this season.
Absolutely positively stand-up, sit down, get-the-fuck-out sick lines. Amazing paddle. Period. On another note, I don't know of any other paddler who works so hard to get in his epic runs.
I love how these dudes have to hike 13 miles or whatever , get bit up by bugs and shit the ENTIRE WAY up and downhill. And drag their fucking kayaks behind them. And have a smile on their face while doing it. Mad respect
I keep coming back to this video. Love the hike and river as a combo. I would think the boat would handle a lot differently with the extra weight but you seem to have no issues. Is there a section you would have done if you weren't loaded? Although maybe not as you could unload and portage the gear so I guess that was a dumb question. I also love the way the sound is when the gopro gets water in it. It sounds like it's growling at you telling you how bad ass it is and coming after you. Thank you so much for posting all these.
Awesome! I think I ran into you guys in Grouse Meadow last summer while you were getting ready to enter. I've got some cool photos of you paddling through the mellow first sections of Grouse Meadow. You said you were heading all the way down through the narrows. Hard. Core.
Always good video! What's your basic hiking, kayaking and camping gear for this trip ?how you make that kayak back pack?thanx for you're time!!if you got some!!
The general camping essentials, foam pad, sleeping bag, snacks and meals. There are companies that make backpack systems for this, but unfortunately I lost mine earlier in the trip. So just straps and pool noodles are a classic makeshift system. If done right, which i didn't do, they hold up well.
On your map at the beginning of this video, you mis-located Garlic Falls. You have it on the South Fork, just above the confluence. It is actually several miles below the confluence.
Thanks for the heads up. I actually meant it as the "Garlic Falls" section from the confluence down, as it was explained to me. But good to know where the actual Garlic Falls itself is.
what smooth flawless style! did you even get knocked over? or did you clean it? In my day, Lars Holbek/Chuck Stanley's guidebook had it rated V-VI with 50+ portages. Technology and impeccably evolved skill sets have now made that laughable. keep the vids coming
To think he was born premature. My nephew was too. Gives me hope. Inspiring. Just shows you if what true perseverance looks like. So damn cool. Where there's a will there's a way. Love Dane. Dude is always just so damn stoked about life. Cheers me up during the pandemic. Sad I didn't find this channel sooner. But happy I have it now.
Will have to make one at some point! Although do it right when I make it haha. HF makes a lightweight and good one though, which I normally use but I lost a bit before this lap.
You make me miss the hell out of kayaking just on a lake. But what you doo, Holy shit dude I don't know if i'd make it but I would try and probably almost die haha
Hi all. Curious if any of you playboaters have found out from a chiropractor that you have developed arthritis in your back. Found that out this week. Getting old really does suck. Chiropractor says I will really start to notice it within the next 10 years
It’s not often you lose them completely on most whitewater. But they can break, which is why we have a two piece paddle that fits in the back of our kayaks.
You have to be born a special kind of person to attempt this shit. I would never do it, all the alarm bells in my body are ringing, just watching it. I am not nearly as robust as these guys.
Some kayakers would make a documentary out of that trip. You just post it in one sick video. Nice
thank you for no music on your great video. the sound of the water and boat far better
Ok
Agreed!!
Blt
Wow. you really have to want it. BAD. Really great boating, boys.
Saw some boaters going over bishop pass while I was backpacking. I had seen this video a while back but had to watch this again.
Quickly, this has become my favorite youtube channel. Keep on!!!
Appreciate it!
Wahhh that's so beautiful. Just a big water slide. Fun to watch
Back kayaking after 25 years off. Your videos are so inspirational. Thank you. Got my roll in second time out after EJ rolling master class.
With all this snow, I hope we get an encore!
Dang, this is documentary level but you just made a straight clean, no music just adrenaline cut. Awesome, and now off to work ha ha!
I'm kinda new to all those kayakking vids, what other channel do you reccomend? Either with or without music
It's not just the rowdy water. The hikes you make to these put-ins in the Sierras are nuts. That is athleticism at is purest form.
Taking my intro to whitewater kayaking course this weekend. This is the video that inspired me to do it; I hope to be able to do this trip some day.
very cool kayaking stuff

Epic video 🌊🤩 . I like the low key Theracane promo packing the truck 😁👍
You encourage us with great adventures so tq

That was awesome! I like the commentary, the description of the run !
I dont know how to swim and i'm afraid of waters that's why i love watching you guys👍
awesome guys. No fear. Keep up the great videos.
If you kayaked upstream you wouldn’t have to do that strenuous hike 🤦♂️
Science
Inflate an IK with helium and you can paddle upstream with ease.
I can't even swim and I'm subscribing to this channel.

Welcome to the King's Club! Best.Run.Ever.

I love this video and there’s no music messing it all up. It’s great 👍🏽 love the scenes man. Super nicely made outdoors video, just raw and uncut ✌🏽

more horizon lines than I have ever seen going down river. Awesome powerful water, awesome views. I can't boat this, but would love to hike it.
The hike itself is unreal!
I feel like I would totally die if I tried kayaking, but your videos give me tremendous fomo
there are significantly easier rivers than this
This is the most epic thing I've ever seen. I want to do this too.
Whoever said that a kayak could not free fall at 70 miles an hour never ran the Middle Kings! What athletic beasts you all are.
i guess you guys having a fantastic time
Tiny nothing request? A bit of sound on the fire, it looked really nice!
Hey Dane - Saw your truck at the takeout here last weekend (June 5-6). Another video in the making?
Gonna have to wait a bit but yeah there’ll be another!

Walk in looked hard, river even harder, glad your doing it not me.

Is there a name to that trail you hiked in on?
It's bishops pass, don't remember the name of the trail itself
Awesome !! That's a ride !

What happens if you get stuck in the hole or stuck upside down, is there an eject button?
Wow I watch your videos daily, just noticed I hadn't subscribed! WHAT??? Well I am now!
🙏
Can you show how to set up your diy kayak backpack?
Will have to make one at some point! Although do it right when I make it haha. HF makes a lightweight and good one though, which I normally use but I lost a bit before this lap.
I'm in the middle of a kayaking white water course and still learning but why are you going of most of them drops nearly sideways ? Savage vid dude 💪🔥
With the shallow drops sometimes it's easier to lift your bow with a little bit of angle, for certain places.
oh and what do you think about the bent shaft paddle your using is it good
It's the Werner Sho Gun. By far my favorite stout running paddle
Friends and I bought Werner paddles in1971 ($17 each); the Werner boys were still in high school! The beginning of their business.
You make me miss the hell out of kayaking just on a lake. But what you doo, Holy shit dude I don't know if i'd make it but I would try and probably almost die haha
Sierra Water Worship=#1🏞💧🇺🇸
Do you have a how to on the back pack
that's a lot of work bro.
Love your vids bro!
Thanks!
Very good.
do you think this would be good course for a beginner? im thinking of going next week
Maybe a little easy
how your kayak never turn down?
Hi all. Curious if any of you playboaters have found out from a chiropractor that you have developed arthritis in your back. Found that out this week. Getting old really does suck. Chiropractor says I will really start to notice it within the next 10 years
great video
do you usually go first on the river?
or do you let other people try it out first
Next level fitness
What statue is that at 11:27? Lol
How do you do that without constantly not being upside-down?
Practice
kayaker-"hey look there's a bear :)" me- OH HELL NO WE GOTTA BOUNCE!
😂
how long did it take in total to kayak down?
Great video I love kayaking but I couldn't pull that off but I want to dammit LOL
And people thought putting a man on the moon was impressive....
Because it was
What happens when you lose your oars?
It’s not often you lose them completely on most whitewater. But they can break, which is why we have a two piece paddle that fits in the back of our kayaks.

U are the best boat and also man
So rowdy
What extreme sport is this called?
Whitewater kayaking
How heavy are your kayaks?
