I've had this car for the past month and a bit and it hasn't disappointed. When you're just driving this around town it coddles you with its luxurious appointments and when you need speed, it's got plenty on tap. This car is definitely a head turner... I've had many people come up to me asking about it. Styling is fantastic. The only zonk from my end is the fact it's a bit thirsty, but it's a tradeoff I'm willing to make.
Gas mileage should get better over time. I have had mine about 3 months and I am getting on average about 25.5 combined. (22 city/ 28 hwy) It was pretty thirsty at first it loosens up with some break in miles.
@@lewisfisk It's pretty decent. everything is well aligned, no major blemishes and panel gaps. The feel of all the materials is very high end. My only complaint is there's a small and random squeak coming from the left back door. if it gets more pronounced and repetitive I'll bring it in for a look. I seem to always find these squeaks in cars I've owned :P
What a beautiful vehicle! Love the red one you reviewed a couple weeks ago! So refreshing to see a different company besides the big 3 (I think we all know which 3 those are) killing it in the industry right now! Hope you and Lori have a wonderful weekend!
Own one, thanks to you Joe! Melbourne Gray. The Melbourne Gray matte finish makes the body lines and the wheels stand out. I like the way the hood overlaps. It looks aggressive like a shark.
Move aside great great great grandad, there’s a new genesis in town!!! This car has such huge selling potential in the states! Wishing the best for genesis 🤞🏼
0:31 They've actually been around since 2017 as an independent brand. I don't know why car reviewers say they became an independent brand in 2015 when the second generation Genesis sedan was sold through 2016 as the Genesis sedan from Hyundai. Then it switched over to being called the Genesis G80 in 2017 when the brand introduced the G90
I actually really like the design of the rear lower plastic. It doesn’t look like they’re trying to fool us into thinking it’s a big ass vent, just a design that matches the wheels and the front grille

My mom was raving about how she test drove the GV70 Sport today! How ironic that this video is uploaded the same day haha. What an amazing car…I will always love the X3 M40i, but the GV70 brings something new and more progressive to the table, especially with the design inside and out.
Finally got to meet you this morning at the Garage One Car show in Tampa. It was great to get your personal spin on the car’s and trucks that you review. it is good for us in the Tampa Bay Area to have you as a local guy on You Tube. Keep up the great video’s.
Although there aren’t a lot of new Genesis models roaming around in the US, I feel like Genesis is starting to get more better and better with their line up than previous years.
Just test drove a GV70 considering it as a backup while I wait for my Mach E GT (same exact price)... fell in love with it. Haven't purchased it, but it's the only car that's making me consider purchasing it before my Mach E GT gets delivered. I'd be going backwards on MPG a LOT from my current Ford Fusion Hybrid, especially since I'd be going to 20/25 MPG over a full EV. I'd also be losing a LOT of speed/acceleration compared to a Mach E GT and probably some handling since the batteries in the EV are down low. But everything else is amazing on this GV70. The tech, comfort, interior, etc. The exterior design is beautiful. It's really stuck in my mind right now.
We just purchased the GV70 AWD in red with the red/black seats- it’s really a hot looking SUV. Paid $5000 over sticker, because that’s what the dealers are getting in FL and there is very limited inventory. We would never have done this, but we needed a car. That said…the seemingly misaligned hood is just awful. What were they thinking when they designed the hood that overlaps and doesn’t seem to line up smoothly with the front quarter panels? The gap is enough to put a pencil between. It looks like the front hood was put on and misaligned in assembly. I feel much better now that I know it’s not just our car, but really that’s the only bad body design in our opinion. Regarding the functionality of some of the dashboard and console features: The position of the two knobs on the console that control PDNR and media are too close together. I am constantly turning the media knob when I’m supposed to be turning the PDNR knob. Bad placement. The reach to the media touch screen is too far from the driver’s position to make it a practical touch screen…too dangerous a reach when driving and using the knob requires your attention to the screen as you click thru to the function you need- super distracting. Lots of unnecessary features. I do like the massage seats. I’d driven about 45 mins and it decided I needed a massage…honestly it didn’t wake me up, but definitely relaxed me. Hmmmm…. The set up feature for the driver profile is great. Setting up your profile, it asks for your height and weight, then adjusts your seat driving position and your mirrors to reflect your height and weight. It then asks for your finger print. The car is amazing as you can press a button on your remote and literally let it drive itself into your garage without you in the car. It will self adjust until it’s in the right position- if there’s an object that gets in front or the car, it stops and makes an alarm noise. Once the object or person moves out of the way, it proceeds. Watching it do this will blow your mind as it self parks itself in your garage and stops at just the right distance. The driving assist is persistent and the cameras are as good as our 45’ RV. The best visibility I have had in any SUV or van we have owned. We are coming out of a Porsche Macan S and this car has it all over the Porsche for features and ride. It’s a crazy little SUV and it carries a lot. I am still learning all the things it can do.

@@jansenwilder1335 I've never driven the Porsche Macan, so I couldn't compare. The drive and tech is fantastic. I like it much better than my soccer mom Merc GLC 300 SUV
I like how the GLC drove, so you saying you like this more than the GLC is something to consider. I currently have an F-Pace S, and love how the QX55 drives (but I dont like the lack of engine power). I've heard this still has the comfort, along with the power (in the 3.5T version).
@@Xxooo33 Yes, but mind you I had the regular GLC 300 and not the AMG variant. But on a price level, the GLC 300 I had is more comparable to the GV70 3.5tt.
Hey Joe - Thx for ALWAYS detailed review. Always one of top reviewers in the States!! Tip- the exterior color (on the back up camera) can be changed in an option menu. When compared to the Audi SQ5, GLC43 and Macan GTS the VALUE of the GV70 is FAR superior.(about a $25K bump to get into a similar German.) I'm in Vancouver Canada - the top of the line 3.5 TT goes for $75,500 Cdn(includes F&PDI - just Doc fee & taxes extra) which includes the 5 yr scheduled maintenance program and, of course, the 5 yr warranty & valet service (within 50 KMS). OVERALL the ext,& int styling, the quality of leather, stitching, the lack of plastic, the latest tech features, AND Comfort mode is really nice, PLUS the windows must be dbl glazed b/c its very quiet and then hit the throttle and boom its such a fun ride that u can toss into the corners. REALLY A FANTASTIC VALUE and HIGH standard - it REALLY is pushing the Germans. That red ext is very nice too. Thx again Joe - I really enjoy ur reviews. Cheers!!
Great review. Exterior of this Genesis def stands out more. But overall, the X3m40 is an amazing machine. Hard to beat that B58 engine and handling of the X3.
Yeah I just ordered my x3 M40i last week! I chose that over this one! I like the GV70 styling but overall as you stated…the BMW was a better choice for me!
When it comes to reviews now one comes close to you on how would people use this vehicle. Literally tempted to go for this car after your review. Truly well done Joe! 🤘
Raiti, I think a carbon fibre exterior upgrade would be a great option for those who would prefer something different to the Matt black diamond pattern, which has been overkill on this vehicle. It would Look so sweet on the darker colours , especially on the blue / black colour you reviewed here. Great work man by you and the mrs.🤙👍
I recommend GV70 2.5T over X3 30i. If you want performance, I highly suggest if you could test 3.5T with other German Brand's performance SUVs (SQ5, M40i, GLC43) back to back and see how you like them. I test drove the top trim in Toronto with X3 m40i back to back when 2.5T was not available yet, and this car felt so good to me in almost every way(interior, options, sound system, etc), but I just could not put the deposit down for it because the performance still lacked... In my opinion, I see no point in buying 3.5T if 2.5T is an available option. For 2.5T's money, you get almost everything except the badge better than German brands with no option.
I am not a BMW fan and I was not expecting to buy the BMW but, we test drove both m40i and GV70 3.5t. The BMW is so much better to drive and the LCI does not look bad. The GV70 is much nicer, but at least to our taste something was missing that we were not quite able to explain, it was just a feeling. Genesis is relatively new brand. Maybe next time.
@@rtnolli Ya for sporty tuning Genesis is just not there yet, and GV80 is nicer if someone wants a pure luxury experience (I believe the top trim of GV70 already hits the price point of GV80)
Raiti, man my man... They killed it with the design. Most SUVs look good from one or two angles, but not all of them. This is just my opinion. Genesis killed this from all angles, but the wat they designed the hood that extends over the....MAN WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING? 10/10 ZONK

The screen seems to be narrow so it will have unpleasant view for the GPS, you won’t see the road view ahead of you on the map which is very helpful. That’s why vertical screen is better and always a good idea!
@@Tom-pp4iv Hmmm…been using it for a month I haven’t noticed an issue. But didn’t notice a problem either in the BMW 2021 430ix or the 2020 Palisade Limited. They all work similar or maybe I’m just not seeing it
@@vanceforrest4085 no you don’t understand what I’m saying. I didn’t say there an issue but with vertical screen you will see more streets on map view ahead of your roads. Larger area view. See screen on 2021 Volvo CX60 or CX90 will know what I’m saying.
@@vanceforrest4085 yes it does take whole screen, take a look at 2021 Volvo CX60, or even cheap on 2017 Toyota Prius Prime premium they have vertical whole screen for map
I have never driven a Genesis but have always been interested in the brand. I do however own a BMW X3 M40i and from the video review I notice a few differences. The Genesis seems more refined and polite like a Lexus, the BMW is not polite. It is aggressive it growls and pops and turns heads. Anyone buying one of these should drive them all, they are all fun but have their own personalities. To me the BMW seemed like the pit bull of the Euro sport SUVs
I like the look and the power but the panel gaps in the front are something you don’t usually see in foreign cars. I agree the rear diffuser would look better smooth. I think they were starting to get a little carried away with that design. More is not necessarily better. Thanks Joe. Great review and awesome work Lori! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸

I've been watching these (GV70's)! What's scary is that it seems you're in my head. Lots of talking to myself about which SUV to get! The cupholders look really small, like soda can size vs larger Yeti. The rear armrest looks a big saggy, like it would dump your drink. Genesis has superb designs to their cars. No one beats them today. The GV70 is a beauty. I would buy this over the X3 M40 i or any other SUV. It just looks the business this car.

Love your enthusiasm and passion you give us on these reviews.
love the grill on these!
Okay niece and nephew, the conversions are here:
Torque: 530Nm
Top speed: 240km
Weight: 2090kg
Fuel consumptions: 12.5l/100km in city, 9.43l/100km on highway
Maximum towing capacity: 1590kg
Boot capacity: 821l with seats up, 1610l with seats down
Thanks for always bringing the data!
@@RaitisRides It’s my pleasure nephew Joe.
That overhang hood lip makes it look armored and adds toughness to the design in my eyes it only adds to the esthetic
That is definitely one way to look at it!
Totally agree.
GV70 for me, even though I am not a fan of the fence-like grille. I am sold on the dashboard of this SUV. It’s a beautiful sight!
The Fingerprint reader for different driver profiles is cool and possible the first use of this application in a vehicle
The genesis is not messing around anymore and being serious to the competitors !
Perfect SUV!!
I'm leasing 2021 X3 and this Genesis's design and quality are amazing. So much better outside and inside.
You probably have a base X3.
@@3000Payne lol ur in denial bmw fanboy
I LOVE my 3.5tt GV70. It comes with soooo much tech and it absolutely FLIES for an suv.
How's the drive? Would this be a better car against the Porsche Macan?
When compared to the Audi SQ5, GLC43 and Macan GTS the VALUE of the GV70 is FAR superior.(about a $25K bump to get into a similar German.)
I'm in Vancouver Canada - the top of the line 3.5 TT goes for $75,500 Cdn(includes F&PDI - just Doc fee & taxes extra) which includes the 5 yr scheduled maintenance program and, of course, the 5 yr warranty & valet service (within 50 KMS).
The hood extending slightly over the front area is kinda cool, it makes the car look aggressive
Designer of Genesis is from Bentey. It's the reason why genesis looks similar.
When it comes to reviews now one comes close to you on how would people use this vehicle. Literally tempted to go for this car after your review. Truly well done Joe! 🤘
Just got mine and love it! And yes I think its sexier than the BMW and I happen to love how they did the hood!
Man......that rear end is incredible 🙌
The hood gaps for car like that is a deal breaker
Performance wise the M40i with that b58 and handling is much better than gv70.
What a nice car :) I certainly don’t mind the wheels. Love the grill and the rear looks a little like a Macan.
Beautiful:)
I just bought on 4 days ago. And i adore it; its the model with the select package though
Thanks for sharing that! Congrats!
The light interior is perfect. Much brighter and more open. Great looking design all around.
Raiti, man my man... They killed it with the design. Most SUVs look good from one or two angles, but not all of them. This is just my opinion. Genesis killed this from all angles, but the wat they designed the hood that extends over the....MAN WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING? 10/10 ZONK
Looks very nice especially in this combination of colors (dark blue + white interior)
You have very good taste my friend!
Love your reviews! When will you be reviewing the 2022 BMW X3 40i for a real comparison?

The screen seems to be narrow so it will have unpleasant view for the GPS, you won’t see the road view ahead of you on the map which is very helpful. That’s why vertical screen is better and always a good idea!
The GPS doesn’t use the whole screen
@@vanceforrest4085 that means more worst for this screen, vertical screen is ways better
Very wise word Larry! Thanks for supporting us!
I love your reactions when driving that GV70. I had the same reactions when I test drove it. Waiting for my birthday to come on Friday like bring me mine 😁
It looks like a Polostar or Volvo face and where is the backup lights????
Which suvs have ventilated/ cooled rear seats
It's hard to find front cooled seats on the BMW!

To think that Armada you reviewed $57k not anywhere near as luxurious as this. Yeah armada is bigger but the price doesn’t justify it. This is a FANTASTIC SUV for the price!
Raiti Rocks 😀
That is so awesome of you to say!
@@RaitisRides thanks Raiti !
The Stinger is cancelled but it's engine and transmission live on.
Different engine than the Stinger. Stinger is 3.3. I have this GV70. Had the Stinger. Both great.
@@justinfontaine5539 could you give us some pros and cons between the 2? I have a 2018 GT2 Stinger and might be considering this in the next few years.
I love it my boy Joe keep up the work and I love the video lot real true 💯 👍
This is an absolutely gorgeous vehicle! I don't have a Genesis showroom anywhere near me, but I know the technology is also on Hyundai and Kia! Great review!
Does the gv80 have a sport package?
genesis gv70 is the most sexiest one without any doubt, love it
I've been watching these (GV70's)! What's scary is that it seems you're in my head. Lots of talking to myself about which SUV to get! The cupholders look really small, like soda can size vs larger Yeti. The rear armrest looks a big saggy, like it would dump your drink. And not thrilled about the net on the back of the front seats either. But I LOVE the rest of it! The wheels look better in motion. I can always tell when you really like a car by your excitement during the review and test drive. You put a lot of thought into your reviews and I appreciate it! Genesis is building a beautiful car, but as a company, they can't seem to answer any questions about their cars and then refer you to dealers who only have one in stock and can't answer questions either. Things that make you go "hmmmm???!!!". Thanks for test driving in a beautiful area. Props to Lori (Lorrie, Laurie?)!!! Keep those reviews coming! "ON THROTTLE!"!!!
Review of 300 hp simgle turbo?
The armrest is saggy if you recline the seats
Had the X3 M40i now GV70 3.5 yes it's a step up for less money Extremely happy My 3rd Genesis and others Have my favorite now
No it’s not. But it’s more bang for your buck.
This car is super nice. I’ve seen the g80 and Gv70 on the road and man it looks nice,
Definitely a attractive suv. Going to be stiff competition in this segment
Things are heating up nicely!
I have a GV70 and simply love it! It’s green and mean! Love Love Love…
As always wonderful review! I was considering a 4 cyl Sport Prestige version of the Genesis but I ordered a 2022 BMW X3 instead as soon as I got in it I felt at home! How bout an X3 review next? I'm curious as to how many zonks you give it lol!
Fantastic video, as per always, Joe!
I especially liked the special drive through/past section in this video before you reviewed the interior.
Please incorporate this aspect of your review into your other future videos.
One.of the BEST reviewers on TH-cam.
Thanks 😁👍
Thanks Farid! Will do man!
Great video
Thanks Juan for the support!
Genesis shouldn’t have priced this car more expensive than the Lexus Rx 350
Genesis has superb designs to their cars. No one beats them today. The GV70 is a beauty. I would buy this over the X3 M40 i or any other SUV. It just looks the business this car.
I remember when Hyundai and Kia where considered as disposable vehicles. Now, I wouldn't even dare to consider an overpriced german or japanese vehicle over these beautiful and well crafted North Korean machines.
North cannot make this ~
Is this another "spare tire free" design? Thanks Joe
No, they come with a spare
Very nice little SUV! Luxurious with a side of sportiness. Sweet video!
This is one of my ideal color combinations for the GV70 😍🤩🥵🙌🏽! This is so sexy! I think it looks so much more distinct than so many of the vehicles in this segment!
Can u do a review on the new acura mdx but the advance package please.
I will track one down for you!
@@RaitisRides thanks u are the best
Rims look amazing 👏
The GV70 reminds more of a Audi Q5/Porsche Macan than a BMW X3. I would buy one over a BMW. Maintenance on the German brands is a nightmare as well.
I’d get a GLC over all of em
As what Joe said : The Zonk for me is the rear windscreen wiper fitted at the lower panel, a little ugly ,wish I could get a mechanic to shift it to the top... modify its location.
This is really giving BMW a run for the money idk why but I love the rims 😍😍😍
