  • Copyright Trolls! Yes, you heard that right! Last year a client came to us regarding a letter they received from a firm out in California claiming copyright infringement due to a shared meme of Dolly Parton. As it turned out, the claim was bogus!

Tricia this video is so helpful! These trolls target small businesses and scare them.

Great information. Businesses are bombarded with information that comes in email or mail that is worded in such a way that it is hard to tell if it is a requirement or a solicitation. I have clients who are nonprofits who get bombarded with SAM Registration and 990 solicitations that are really hard to tell if they are necessary for compliance. As long as they are tracking their registrations and filings and know they are completed on time, these usually fall in solicitations and can be discarded. It's so hard to tell sometimes though and can be very time consuming. I'd love to hear what you have to say about how to identify solicitations from official notices. Thanks for sharing Dunlap Law, especially the part about pushing back!
