This Sentinel Prime Scene Was Scrapped from Transformers 2007. The first installment in the Live Action Transformers film series will always be held in high regard. Not only did it prove that these characters could be brought to life on the big screen. But it also revitalized the franchise as a whole and made it more relevent than ever. Something that was alluded to but never fully explored was the brotherhood between Optimus and Megatron. Especially in this 1 scenes where we hear Otimus say this after Megatron's death. Apparently in an early draft of Transformers, time stops as Sam Witwicky falls down the building Megatron smashed, and Sentinel appears to him via the AllSpark. Sentinel would've clarified the history of the war and the relationship between Optimus and Megatron expanding on their history as siblings and given him a clue to defeating Megatron with the Cube.

Would be cool to see a more heroic Sentinel Prime but the tragic hero that we got in DOTM is iconic.

i love bayverse sentinel even more than ironhide. He just wanted save his home. Let him cook.
sentinel prime was perfect designed prime, his character was interesting. Humans can k**** animals so why he cannot k***** us? We are not more moral than him. I love ironhide but he was sacrifises for sentinel can get his pillars. He should make ironhide in dust for highter good
I do kinda wish they would've waited at least one movie for him to betray the Autobots like he could've made that deal with Megatron after the battle of Chicago or something
@@Mel6701well, they most likely made the deal right before leaving Cybertron. And it seems more believable cause Megatron at that time was x1000 more imposing

Sentinel would have added more lore to the brotherhood which would have been really interesting since we never got a explanation of their brotherhood.
They were brothers in war
In the comics it kinda explained this. Before the cybertronian war Sentinel designated Optimus as archeological chief and Megatron as the commander in chief of the army. Both were like brothers working together under sentinel's guidance

The novelization fixed this issue by making Sam being the one to find and bring Sentinel to the base in the highway chase scene.
Before that, Sentinel tells Optimus that he wishes to explore the Earth on his own and see humanity with his own eyes. Sam finds Sentinel near a playground on his alt mode and they have a nice little chat about humanity before Sam warns him of the Decepticons and Sentinel agrees to go back with him, Bumblebee, Mirage and Sideswipe.
The novelization of DOTM is actually very good, fixing a lot of things, giving more dept to characters (Optimus and Megatron benefit a lot from the book. Optimus has multiple first person narration parts and Megatron more scenes that show how tired he is) and keeping the original ending of the film.
I wish this scene was added cause it would’ve made Sentinals betrayal feel more tragic considering he once helped them ( Autobots ) in the past to defeat Megatron only for in DOTM to betray them all.
It seems like every time there's a good idea that can enrich the story and give it further depth and flavor, Micheal Bay cans it smh.

For sure that would’ve been epic to see sentinel be a true hero and help defeat megatron in Transformers 2007 but going into Dark of the moon would still be sad knowing he made a deal with the very foe he helped defeat and still would’ve did what we all witnessed during the movie 🥺 It would’ve been so amazing to see Sentinel prime and Optimus fight together instead of eachother
That definitely would have made Sentinal Primes introduction and betrayal have much more weight as he'd have been mentioned a couple of times prior to his actual debut.
I prefer seeing Megatron and Optimus as Brothers IN arms cause that felt natural to their friendship turned rivalry.
I watched the new Transformers One trailer which is basically the backstory of Optimus and Megatron explains why they went their separate ways

The Bayverse Transformer designs are epic even if some of the movies were only so so. I’d love to see an animated reboot with these designs.

I'm kinda glad is was scrapped. I feel like the expedition would have been best coming from Optimus. Sad we didn't get it from him either though.

Reminds me when Megatron got his arm cut off and somehow managed the upper hand briefly with a headbutt and said "We were brothers once!" And Optimus responded "Once".
I know in Transformers Prime they did a brief thing where Optimus was Orion Pax a Librarian, and Megatron a gladiator whom had a friendly relationship. Until jealousy and anger drove them a part. Would love to see a movie based around Optimus and Megatron before/during what drove them seperate directions.

Would’ve been nice if we got foreshadowed characters. Seems like characters are dropped in for the connivence of the plot and die once they serve their purpose.
Like imagine sitting in the theater for 3 and sentinel RETURNS. Or while optimus is dead throughout 2 he’s talking to each of the primes one on one until he finally reaches sentinel and says something along the lines of “our time is shared but not over prime, rise” before cutting back to sam.
Kinda my gripe with these movies is that they each feel like a different story/universe and the only thing consistent is the all spark/matrix. To also note just disappears after the third installment. But, ig that’s what you get when the movie is intended to be a blockbuster instead of an actual story being told and kept lenient and consistent
makes sense to scrap it because they probably decided to make sentinel the villain in the third movie when thinking in advance.

This would've been cool to see. I remember thinking like, coz Optimus asks Sam to put the cube in HIS chest, not Megatron's. Which seems dumb when Sam, without knowing what would happen, goes to put the cube in Megatron's chest instead. Like did Sam know that would kill Megatron? Why did Optimus ask him to put the cube in his chest instead? It would've also been cool to expand upon Megatron and Optimus's relationship more, and if Sentinel was more relevant even earlier than Dark of the Moon
Clearly, this was reused in RotF, when Sam is sent to the afterlife.

The first transformer movie has better cg then any modern movie.
You actually catch another glimpse of this in the Transformers DS game for the Autobot Campaign, where it is explicitly stated that Megatron commited Patricide on both his own and Optimus Prime's Father, Sentinel Prime.
I wish they had this scene in there. It would make it more emotional and a lot more heartbreaking and tragic, that apparently 2 brothers find themselves on the opposite side in a conflict that has lasted for centuries.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

This makes a lot of sense considering he mentions the sentinel prime expeditions earlier in the film and was also like “ oh no Optimus, imma hold this mysterious alien box next to your brothers chest to save you” how else would he have known that it could kill him if Sam wasn’t connected to sentinel prime the whole time
It would make sense as to how Sam knew how to use the cube to kill Megatron
I hate that the plot point of Optimus and Megatron being blood (er, energon) siblings was retconned in the later films. Its such a unique take on their relationship and adds a whole new dynamic between them as well.

The way Optimis spoke after Megatron's defeat was that he viewed him as they're brother's in arms same as you call your buddies in the army and not the whole "sibling" thing.
In conclusion this was just scrapped idea so this meant this isn't canon.

I always assumed that Optimus just called Megatron “brother” in a more non-literal sense. A fellow Cybertronian, or just as an old Brother in arms. This fact sheds a bit more light on the line though.
Also kind of interesting that were were supposed to get Sentinel Prime as early as the first movie

How come sentinel prime is alive on live action if 3 billion years ago he was killed by megatron in Transformers one?
Instead Micheal Bay decided that Traitorous prime should be in Dark of the Moon.
Seems like this design for Sentinel inspired his appearance in Transformers One. Different color scheme, but they have the same profile.
Bc one was meant to be tied in (to the live actions) and the director literally forgot and or was not informed until it was too late. One of the two

I think this idea was used for RoTF instead. But it's with the original Primes instead of Sentinel and the Matrix instead of the Allspark. Would be cool if they introduced Sentinel as some ancient god of the Transformers who lives within the Allspark. It would really make this betrayal more impactful. Optimus died but was brought back with the Matrix. Why couldn't Sentinel if this scene wasn't scrapped? He was just in stasis in DoTM.
This should have never been cut in my opinion. It would have only made the movie only better.

I don't think Optimus and Megs were ever meant to be brothers "biologically" but instead brothers-in-arms and/or brothers as in best friends, buddies, etc.

I always saw them more as brothers in arms or brothers of a cause; cause at one point they did work together before their ideological differences caused the rift. I feel like them being “siblings” would be too literal and a bit corny

Ok well thats due to them having the same father, ome of the priginal 13 primes known as alpha trion. Thats why optimus is part of the prime dynasty including megatron though he called himself megatron after his father's former brother in arms, megatronus prime who fought against their creator's twin brother
I still find it funny how Zeta Prime and Sentinel Prime are either two different Primes or one and the same depending on continuity.
In Bayformers they went with Sentinel as Optimus’ predecessor and no mention of Zeta. In Transformer One, Sentinel is still Optimus’s predecessor and Zeta is one of the original Primes. In War For Cybertron, Zeta IS Sentinel and is not an original Prime.
That will be explain in the new movie transformers one megatron and optimus brotherhood...
Was it in the novel and if so then in the concept for dotm he was name Ultra Magnus.
They were not related Megatron and Optimus were best friends with a close brotherly bond and unlike humans all transformers view every bot on cybertron as brothers due to their shared relation to their own creator.
I honestly prefer Michelle Bay. Over The New ones, especially since they didn't make a Megatron action figure for transformers one, only Optimus, bumblebee, and the Quintason.
